Half a stone off in January

Smarshian · 31/12/2018 12:57

I joined a half a stone thread in June, July and August and then trailed off. Managed to lose almost 2 stone between June and November but then have just ignored what I've eaten since then. A bit terrified to weigh myself but reckon I've put at least half a stone back on.
Will weigh in tomorrow but my aim is to get to 9stone 9. Think I'm currently around 10stone 9/10. Half a stone in January would be a great start and then maybe 3/4 pounds in Feb/March. Anyone want to join? Any method you choose - support thread for all.

@Theneverendingcleaningcycle So sorry you are going through this Thanks. Try and eat little and often, even when you don't feel like it. You need to be looking after yourself. My STBxh left in August completely out of the blue too so I know how hard it is. If you want to chat/rant/cry on a virtual shoulder then I'm here.

Had a reasonably good day so far food wise. Still need to remember to drink more water though.

So I did have a chocolate biscuit and a chocolate coin today but avoided the cake in the fridge! Just got back from my run and having my dinner. All to plan so far 👍

I’m struggling a little bit with the low calorie, MFP is saying 1200 calories but i’m finding it quite low to have a good amount of food, i’m logging everything.

E.g yesterday I had 2 boiled eggs for breakfast, tuna salad for lunch and Chilli with a small amount of rice which was ok but today i had porridge for breakfast, just had a turkey and salad wrap and i’m left with about 500 calories for dinner which is fine but i can’t have any snacks, even like a carrot stick or cheese or something to keep me going between meals. Or will healthy snacks be ok?

Any advice on whether i should stay on low calorie or should I go low carb? Low carb has worked for me before but i love my rice and pasta too much Sad

I find drinking black tea or fuity teas get me over the snack hump, if you're trying to save your calories! Now I'm back in the swing of it, I drink about a litre of fruit tea before I have breakfast /lunch at 12.30ish (I try to do 8:19 intermittent fasting) and I'm always fine with it. It took about a week of reminding myself that being hungry between meals isn't actually going to kill me!

I try to drink water when i feel hungry but tea is a good idea, will up my green tea intake

I guess my body needs to get used to not constantly be eating crap

I think a warm drink fills me up more than water, not sure why!

This afternoon is a bit of a disaster, I had a gaggle of children here and ended up eating all some haribo. I had a smoked salmon bagel for lunch though and I'll be having prawns on toast for dinner so I hope it'll balance out Blush

How's everyone found the first couple of days? I'm feeling better already. I've not eaten anywhere near as much rubbish as I have been recently and feel like I've got more energy (although that might be to do with my non sleepers sleeping a bit better the last couple of days!)
Also not had anything to drink since nye. Not doing dry Jan just not drinking every day like I did in Dec!
Hoping to get a decent loss on Tuesday at my weigh in.

Im getting on better, i do get a sudden urge to have junk food but once it passes i feel good that i didnt give in, and i do feel better eating more healthy food, not sluggish and gross. Drinking lots of green tea which has got rid of a lot of my bloat as well.

Hopefully we can all stick to it.

I'm going out for dinner now, but I had two boiled eggs for lunch and a satsuma mid afternoon. I'm earning every calorie in dinner, dd and I went for a 30 min jog this morning and I'm going to walk the 6km to dinner!

I'm in! It's much easier doing month by month and half a stone is achievable. I have put on 4 stone in the last 6 years so it's time to ditch the wine on the sofa habit and get my figure back! Easy so far but have had to chuck out all the Christmas biscuits and moved the booze into the garage. Breaking old habits and forming new healthy ones like lunchtime walking and early to bed.

Went a bit over my calories yesterday, was at a family lunch yesterday, usually i try to do low carb for lunches but there wasnt that option, and husband was sat next to me snacking away on biscuits and chocolate in the evening and i had a small chocolate that we had hanging from the xmas tree but it wasnt too bad.

Got a few things to do around the house today but hoping to start my walking tomorrow as well.

Im using casey batchelor as my inspo atm, might look into doing her yoga blitz. we have very similar bodies esp the boobs, so jelous of how small hers are now!

Went out for lunch yesterday with family but made some good choices and then had veggie curry for dinner with a small amount of rice so still doing ok.
Trying to resist weighing myself before tomorrow. Managed 2 runs last week, hoping to do 3 this week. Not feeling too deprived and hoping my work clothes are going to fit when I go in for my kit days next week! They were fine just before Christmas but a bit tight on Wednesday 🙈

I lost all willpower after my weigh in last week. Having found that the Christmas weight gain wasn't much as I feared, I then made my fears come true in the days that followed by massively overeating. On the bright side, there is very little temptation left in the house. Blush

But I need to reverse the trend NOW. Last year I was hanging around my 'happy weight' in December, then it started creeping up in January and never really stopped until I made a concerted effort to lose weight in the autumn. Half a stone off now will put me back where I should be, and getting there will break the bad habits in the process.

Getting some accountability on here will be a good motivator, I hope

I did exactly the same @pleasenotmondayagain ! Weighed myself, thought 'wow that's not that bad' and then spent the weekend finishing up every Christmas left over 😪

It still didn't look too bad this morning, although it may catch up with me over the next few days. Have hopefully pulled myself back today - tracked everything on MFP and my running club started up again tonight. Still not drinking enough water though. I just forget. Anyone got any tips?

Taking the littlest for his first settling in session at nursery this morning then off to weigh in. Wish me luck!
I’m struggling with drinking enough water too so will try to do the same as @pinkiii and take a water bottle with me this week.

There is another thread in weight loss chat about not being able to stop munching after Christmas and new year www.mumsnet.com/Talk/weight_loss_chat/3469835-can-anyone-else-just-not-stop-eating-following-christmas-and-new-year That would be me (waving to blindtipsy as well!) A few people were having a fast day now to break the bad habits, so I'm trying that today. I'm trying to drink plenty of water, but I've also got a few 'Christmas' teabags left over, and I'm using those as a quick fix for the festive food cravings.

I'm working at home today, which makes the fasting thing easier, but also puts temptation within reach. But (thanks to my scoffing last week) most of the Christmas food is now finished, apart from a chunk of cake that will probably cut into one serving each for us if I leave it alone for the day.

Good luck Smarshian Hope your LO has a happy time at nursery.

Joining a little late (was on holiday with family since NYE) but determined to get myself back in the game! Managed to lose 10lbs before Xmas....only to put 5lbs back on. Still lots to go though sadly!

Good luck with settling in day Smarshian junior!

I weighed in this morning and I'm down 0.5kg/1lb. It's less than I wanted but more than I feared and at least a start in the right direction. Dh is away a lot of this week so I'm going to have to force myself to make proper dinners for me as I've plenty of proper food (yay for frozen batch cooking!) in the freezer for the dc. I'm massively craving a caprese pizza from an amazing local place and with dh away I can't even distract myself by going for a run instead Blush. I'm working from home today so I'll go for a run on my way to do school pick up as I won't get out in the evening.

What's everyone's plan for exercising? I had a short jig yester morning and a swim last night and I'm booked in for a weights training programme at the gym on Friday. I'm hoping to do exercise of some sort six days a week. I really need to kick my own ass

Well good news and not so good news. The boy did fab at his settling in - so that’s a weight off my mind. His sister goes to the same nursery so I’m pretty comfortable with the staff there too.
Not so good news is I weighed in and have only lost 0.5lb. Must try to be stricter this week as I’ve let myself have too many extras especially over the weekend! Still 0.5lb off is going in the right direction. I’ve got a run planned for tonight and Thursday, training for a 10k so hoping to get an extra one in on Saturday too otherwise I’ll be behind on my training.

Very glad your ds had a good day, Smarshian. I remember that feeling 6 years ago when my own little boy started nursery, joining his big sister. We loved ours, I miss the simplicity of it some days!

Half a pound is half a pound! Well done. When is your 10k? I'm half trying to get back to 10k, although at the moment I can barely manage 3 Blush

Work went a bit mad as I was trying to get out the door, so I had to take the short route to the school rather than the longer one I'd planned, so I'm going to hunt out 30 day shred on YouTube after the dc are in bed.

Hello! May I join?

I have allowed my weight to creep up and up (after losing enormous pregnancy weight gain twice in the last 6 years). I used to do a LOT of exercise pre-children and haven’t really adjusted my eating to not being able to exercise as much. Ironically, the extra weight seems to make me much more prone to injury, which makes losing weight harder.

I weighed in at 160lbs 😯 - I was just over 140lbs last year and really ought to be nearer 130lbs. The only thing that ever worked for me before was hardcore low carb, but I found it hard to maintain as a veggie in a family of meat eaters, with a lot of work travel.

Since new year, I have effectively been doing 16:8 - no breakfast and no eating after 7pm. No sugar and no snacks. I have lost 4.5lbs since NYE and I think I can keep this up - I’ve been out running and riding and haven’t felt too wobbly!

I’ve had a fairly good day - going to try not to ruin it by eating chocolate now.
Went for a 3 mile run tonight which is the furthest I’ve done so far and feeling quite good about it. @MotherForkinShirtBalls my 10k is mid March, so got a few weeks to get my distance up.
