1 stone to lose

Curiousquestioning · 21/07/2018 21:57

Hello everyone,

Does anyone have 1 stone to lose? Would you like to help motivate one another? I'm not in to obsessiveness but for my health, I feel I should lose the belly.

I'm thinking of doing this the old-fashioned way by trying three things:

  1. Cutting down on drinking alcohol at home. Drinking a glass or two of wine at home has become part of my daily life.
  2. Three meals a day only. I snack so much and don't even realise how much I'm eating.
  3. Exercising daily. I'd love to think I exercise daily but in reality, I don't.

Are you in? This could work if we help to motivate one another. I know 1 stone doesn't seem like much to lose but I've been getting good at putting it on rather than burning it off!

Placemarking for later - this is also me!

I do exercise a lot, but on non-running days I struggle to do enough steps so am trying to get more of an everyday active mindset.

Have one stone left to lose, having already lost 1.5 stone.

Have recently scaled back on the drinking but it is still a bit of a work in progress.

I'll be back!

Curiousquestioning · 23/07/2018 16:24

@TheBitchOfTheVicar Hilarious name by the way! Good on you losing 1.5 stone. Now that I've started trying to do this, I'm seeing it's harder than I thought...I'm hoping the first week will be the hardest and then it'll be second nature. I also need to clear all the junk out of the house...

@Curiousquestioning thanks ☺️

For me, I find getting IN the zone hard, but once I have seen some results it is easy to stay there. We all need some friends to notice our weight loss and compliment us!

I'm also a teacher, and struggle with the lack of routine - also, we are going to be away for about 4 weeks in total, where I will have less control of what I eat. While visiting family I always do a lot of food shopping to contribute, so find it easier to break the social code of mealtimes.

I have been really on it lately; this weekend, though, allowed myself to eat far too much. So back on it today.

Ran 5.25 miles of intervals this morning and have done 22500 steps so far today. Had a salad for lunch, cake for tea! Might have some soup later.

Tomorrow run and swim planned; also extremely sensible eating. I tend to go low carb so will prob have some chicken breasts and a bit of salad.

Star for all those attempting exercise in this heat. You are better people than me. Although according to the daily fail we shouldn't be leaving our houses this week so i think we are all doing wellBlush

Can I join this thread please??????
I am in serious need of motivation after putting on a stone (maybe two) over the last year.
Every day starts off great...
healthy breakfast, lots of water, vitamins, healthy lunch, no snacks, then boom... it gets to 6pm and it's like someone else has taken over my food brain.
Crisps, ham straight out the packet, wine, a wee biscuit, another slice of ham, more wine, all the kids leftovers (like I literally sit and wait for them to leave the table so I can clear their plates), you name it, I'll have it between the hours of 6pm-9pm.
I need help. 🙋🏻‍♀️

WingingWonder · 24/07/2018 00:18

Me. I’m in. I look good at 1st lighter and crucially healthier feeling too
I lose half a stone and then it all goes to pot!!

HRTpatch · 24/07/2018 07:10

I had a good day yesterday. Porridge for breakfast and salad for lunch and tea.
No wine or gin.
I'm the same shakeit.....its 5pm onwards I hit the olives, cold meats, basically anything.

tinydancer88 · 24/07/2018 19:14

Eaten a little toffee cheesecake this evening Blush but off to the gym in the morning!

AndBabyMakes3 · 24/07/2018 21:25

Ooh can I join too please. I have been doing lchf diet for a month now and lost 11 lbs so far but a lot more to go. If I get down another stone I will be within the 'overweight' bmi category instead of 'obese' so that is a damn good start. Every lb off is a step in the right direction. Mostly I want to be healthy and get fit to be able to play with DC. Have a big boozy birthday bash this weekend (1st night away from baby) and a wedding in 5 weeks but cutting out all alcohol in between. I figure if I keep going with the healthy eating and incorporate more excercise that will see sustainable results. I did not put all the excess weight on overnight so need to bear in mind that it will take time and effort to come off.

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 24/07/2018 21:38

@shakeitlikeapolaroid I find keeping my hands busy helps! I play an instrument, cross stitch and so on. It really helps!

@AndBabyMakes3 excellent work so far! It is taking me a LOT longer but I shall get there!

Good day today for me: 5.25 mile walk - couldn't fade a run in this heat, even early morning. Then a bit of work, during which I ate lots of chicken breast and nuts. All at 10:30 - but then didn't eat again until teatime: a few mouthfuls of steak and two boiled eggs on their own. Also swam a mile - takes me ages! Am with friends right now and turned down not just one Pimms but TWO

Hope everyone else has had a good day.

LOliver123 · 24/07/2018 21:58

Can I join in this too please! Have a stone to lose - plus really want to make changes I will stick too! Introduce more healthy foods and get used to some daily exercise

shakeitlikeapolaroid · 25/07/2018 08:34

Morning lovely people!
Had a good day yesterday as was busy with work, and also walked a lot but then I spoiled it with burgers + cider in the evening. 🤷🏻‍♀️
I blame the sun.
Can anyone link me to the best place for info on the Low Carb/High Fat diet??? I've never tried this but reading this thread, it looks like a few people have lost a fair bit by doing this??
Thanks!!!

AndBabyMakes3 · 25/07/2018 11:12

@shakeitlikeapolaroid i find the diet doctor website great for information, recipies and inspiration. You can sign up for a 2 week trial where it will give you your meal planner and shopping list I think; but i just went through what i thought would be nice myself. The idea behind it is that you use fats to keep you full longer so you drastically cut out carbs. By keeping your body in ketosis you use up the fat stores causing you to lose weight. At first you will also lose water so one tip is to increase salt and water intake - this helps to avoid "keto flu" hope this helps Flowers

shakeitlikeapolaroid · 25/07/2018 13:17

@AndBabyMakes3 thank you for the info!
Will read up on this today!!!
Seriously need to get my arse in gear cos I can't get it in my jeans....

Curiousquestioning · 25/07/2018 21:30

I agree that evening time is the hardest ... I just finished my dinner & was looking around for a treat or glass of wine. I'm finding it quite hard but instead I'll have a pint of water & cup of herbal tea! I'll drink on Saturday but going to try not to until then.

I had a few chocolates today but it was still better than before. I was eating everything in sight before this thread!

I need to break the bad habits! I'm still aiming for three meals per day & no snacks ... getting there Blush

Yes! I'm in!
1.5 stones to lose to be 'best bod of my life' and be 'not overweight' for first time in my life (well - approx age 11). This weight is proving tough to shift, but I guess it's been there 20 years so it's not just going to melt off if I go for a swim! I don't care if it takes til Xmas - its going!

My big phrase is going to be:
"The time will pass anyway, so it doesn't matter how long it takes"

Walked 4 miles this morning, then went to exercise class this evening. Come on scales!!!

Curiousquestioning · 25/07/2018 21:55

WineIsMyCarb good on you!

Let's try to motivate one another with ways to stay away from the baddies!

I'm trying delayed gratification (I.e.) no wine tonight but you'll enjoy a few on Saturday!

Any other tips from the top? Halo

If I am craving something I have a little bit of it - which takes “the sting” and attraction out of it and makes me feel I am getting some treats. Also find running a big help - it earns me more calories that I can peck away at. I found the first week hellish. At the end of week 3 now and getting into a groove. 2 more sleeps to weigh day - hope the scales are kind to me!!!

CanIhavedessertfirst · 26/07/2018 00:19

Can I join?! I have about 10lb of weight to lose. It's gradually crept on since my wedding last year and I want it gone by my birthday in September.

I'm an evening snacker too! I now make up a batch of sugar free jelly and try and snack on that. Hasn't really worked over the last few days though.

Curiousquestioning · 26/07/2018 11:51

Resisted snacks last night for first night in ages! Yay! Every little victory Wink

Hi all, i'm being really strict with myself as i'm off on holiday soon and my holiday clothes are far too snug. Had porridge with frozen blueberries on top for breakfast and a meal replacement bar for lunch, will have a sensible meal for tea. Am drinking plenty of water but just can't face exercise in this heat - did walk to and from work though. How's everone else doing? Are we going to have a weekly weigh in? Shock

Curiousquestioning · 26/07/2018 19:24

That's a good idea!

I didn't manage exercise today! I'm staying off the wine but haven't gotten rid of the treats yet ...

Ethiopianflower · 27/07/2018 08:26

Have a quick question for you all. I ate around 1200 per day this week and ran 6k per day - this I thought would give me a 2lb loss. Instead the scales said I put on a quarter pound. I am SO demotivated and feel like chucking it all in!!! 😫😫

Hideandgo · 27/07/2018 08:33

I’m in!! I’ve exactly a stone to lose. Just had my 4 th baby in 5 yrs. I’m a healthy BMI but at the top end of it and nothing fits and all the weight is sitting on my middle. I’ve been doing C25K 1-3 times a week for 6 weeks now and yoga once a week so am feeling a little stronger but my eating is not right for any weight loss. I do eat vegetarian 5 days a week but butter and an evening chocolate bar are my downfall. And portions. So for the last week I’ve been a bit more careful without being militant.

Ethiopian, I did MFP after baby #3 and after 2 weeks of eating 1200 Cals had lost nothing!!! Was raging and threw the towel in. Then 2 weeks later I weighed myself and the weight was gone. So I think maybe your body just takes time to catch up with the effort you’ve made.

Curiousquestioning · 27/07/2018 09:49

@Ethiopianflower it'll fall off in time. 1200 cals is low! How do your clothes feel ? Looser? Could be water retention too.
