Fresh thread for a new week.

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 22/05/2007 12:21

how awful. Was it expected? Not that it is any easier then, just less of a shock I suppose.

EllieG · 22/05/2007 14:48

No she had a sudden brain haemorrage on sunday night and died mon morning. Poor man is reeling and lost. Makes you think how lucky you are to have your health and family.

JackieNo · 22/05/2007 17:03

EllieG - how horrible for him, and for you.

Kew (hurray - it rhymes with your original name), DD is much better. Went back to school today, after sleeping well last night. Still coughing a bit, but not currently complaining about headaches, thank goodness.

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 22/05/2007 19:55

my friend had a brain aneurism about 3 years ago left two boys aged 9 and 10 at the time. The ten yr old found her . Her ex-DP's (who is close friend of mine also) mother died two days later - not a good week for that family. Terribly sad funerals - one day after the other.

justamum · 22/05/2007 23:19

EllieG, how horrible for you and for her family, it really does make you value what you have doesn't it when something like that happens.
Jackie, he did go & get icecream, I did eat it and I'm so cross with myself that I'm finding it really difficult to get back on track. I had a horrible day at work today & ended up comfort eating tonight. Why oh why do I always end up returning to the old food demons every time I get stressed? I could scream at myself right now. AAAARRRGGGGH

EllieG · 23/05/2007 08:51

I think that's just a woman thing to be honest. Healthy eating has gone right out the window for me this week - think I might not weigh in on thurs as too scared!

hippipotami · 23/05/2007 10:43

Oh no EllieG, what a dreadful thing to happen. Things like that scare me silly.

Jackie, I hope your dd is better soon. My dd suffers from a dreadful nighttime cough which is linked to her asthma. It is horrid listening to them cough and not being able to do much isn't it. We give dd a puff of her inhaler which helps, but it is just horrid to see her gasping for breath and going red from the coughing.

On a happier note, I weighed myself this morning, exactly 3 weeks after the last weigh-in, and have lost 5lbs. So that makes a total weightloss of 11lbs in 6 weeks. Am very pleased!

As I am so big you can't see the loss, but my clothes do feel ever so slightly looser (or am I imagining that ?)

Jackie - I clicked on your kewcumber google links too. Can someone explain to me the story behind the bat - he pops up everywhere?

littlemisssensible · 23/05/2007 11:37

EllieG how sad Don't worry about weight etc at the moment you've more pressing concerns.

JackieNo I'm glad to hear you LO is feeling a bit better, hope you can get some sleep now!

EllieG · 23/05/2007 12:45

Well done on the weightloss hip - am v v impressed.

whoopsfallenoveragain · 23/05/2007 12:50

That's so sad Eliie

Well done Hippi I lost 5lb this week but am finding it hard to notice on myself a couple of people have said they can see I've lost weight but I'm waiting to see my Gran as she is always one to comment on weight!!
I did put a jacket on that I struggles to do up and it did up with space so that was good!
DH isn't inpressed with the fact I want to buy some new trousers as I'm resorting to keep my current ones up with elastic bands as I don't have a belt because I couldn't find one big enough!

littlemisssensible · 23/05/2007 13:12

Well done Hippie and Whoops!

Havn't weighed yet but not expecting any loss as I've had a pretty grotty week!

Funeral for friend's partner, followed by stinking cold, followed by panic to sort out proof of ID docs for mortgage; I hadn't realized but my passport went out of date on my birthday! New one ordered now but it caused problems as it is my only photo proof of ID! Apparently driving licence(non photo) plus child benefit letter = one photo proof!

whoopsfallenoveragain · 23/05/2007 14:13

Littlemiss - I knoe that feeling about ID docs for mortgages! we had to pull out of our purchase last year because the mortgage complany wouldn't accept my passport & marriage certificate (I never changed the name) because my marriage cert was more than 3 months old I had no other ID and that happened on the day of completion luckily we never lost anything because we never exchanged!
But we completed on our new on on Monday so my weekend will be full with moving & unpacking boxes!!

JackieNo · 23/05/2007 17:38

Well done Hippi and Whoops. No idea what I'll have done weight-wise this week. Will wait and see tomorrow.

Hippi - the bat, as far as I can gather (before my time), started off when some MNers were playing a game to google people's MN names and post what came up. Somebody googled Soupy, short for Soupdragon, and the bat came up. Ever since then, it's been used to try to trick people into clicking on it. First time I've done it, and it worked a treat.

hippipotami · 23/05/2007 20:01

Aha, thanks for that Jackie. I have been on Mumsnet for about a year now (under a different name at first) and never understood the bat thing....

Chugnuts · 23/05/2007 20:06

Wooohooo! I've got a crown!

(Tis me with a name-change btw)

Good luck for this week everyone.

littlemisssensible · 24/05/2007 09:34

I'm so happy
I'm so happy
I'm so happy and merry and gay

I've lost another 1.5lbs and I was convinced that the best I could hope for was staying the same!

EllieG · 24/05/2007 10:29

Hurray! Well done you very very good

whoopsfallenoveragain · 24/05/2007 17:30

Off to eat my stuffed rainbow trout and veggies.I am starving!!

JackieNo · 24/05/2007 22:08

Hi all. Well done you lot - looks like I've lost half a pound.

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 24/05/2007 22:23

I forgot to weigh been very busy at work and tired and I've done my bad in and ummm....

littlemisssensible · 25/05/2007 11:00

Did you weigh today Kewcumber? Or did you decide to give it a miss this week?

I often forget on a Thursday morning because it doesn't feel like a weighing day! I have to keep reminding myself to do it..though I have got better at not 'forgetting' because I pigged out the day before. I think it's finally sinking in (at the age of 46!)that the only person I'm really cheating is me because really no-one else gives a damn if I've lost a lb or not! Now if I could just stop sabotaging myself I might crack this thing!

Fauve · 25/05/2007 16:17

I'm hiding from these threads at the moment - I've been putting on weight I did weigh myself at the gym today, and I'm the same as I was a couple of weeks ago, so it's not that bad. Thing is, I came off Atkins and didn't really put any diet in its place, so have just been eating randomly - never a good idea, really. I'm thinking of buying a book by Patrick Holford about Low GI dieting which I've seen in Books Etc.

Well done to the rest of you for keeping going - especially everyone who's lost a bit

Chugnuts · 25/05/2007 20:17

I put a pound back on.

TigerFeet · 25/05/2007 20:54

I am (sort of) hiding too Fauve

Can't stop eating atm
