Hi
I'm overweight (5'5 and 13 and a half stone)
This is my build basically fat goes on thighs and when I exercise they get muscly.
Anyone else the same and managed to slim them down?
Even at 10.5st I had larger thighs (obviously not this large!)

Thanks in advance please don't be cruel about my body have underachieving thyroid and gained 3st with pregnancy that I can't seem to shift.

You have an amazing body shape. I am 9 and a half stone of skinny legs and a big fat belly. I would swap with you today.

Isadora2007 · 14/04/2017 09:29

An apple shape here who has lovely slim ( ish for my 3/4 stones overweight) legs but carrying the weight round and above my waist looks awful. And is also bad for my health.
I did enjoy running via the Couch to 5k program and stupidly stopped because I didn't lose any weight but it was good for my health. Maybe it could help slim or tone your legs?

But another vote for the 😍 Whit whoo reaction to your bikini body!

TileTileTile · 14/04/2017 09:30

I don't see the problem to be honest - your proportions are fine and you have a lovely shape.

No matter what your shape is clothes are a pain! I have a larger tummy and a smaller bum and can never get jeans to ft properly.

QueenDork · 14/04/2017 09:33

You look really good, OP. I can see it could be hard to find eg fitted trousers to suit your shape but you look cracking in that bikini!

dilapidated · 14/04/2017 10:28

You look great!

In fact your photo and the lovely responses have helped me feel a bit more reassured about my own large thighs.

I'm 5ft4 and pear shaped.

Usually a 12-14 but pregnant at the moment.

TwentyCups · 14/04/2017 10:42

At 5'8 and 10.10lb I look nothing like as good as you in a bikini. You have a great shape. I'm sure once you have lost weight your thighs will be slimmer but probably will remain larger than the rest of you as that is your shape. Embrace it - you look good!!

Mrstumbletap · 14/04/2017 10:55

You have a beautiful figure! You cow! Smile. Curvy, hourglass with big boobs!

Don't lose weight, you will leave the rest of us with no hope!

If you want to lose weight, what are you thinking? 2-3 stone lighter? the only way I can think of (if you can lose weight regularly/easily), is dont exercise your thigh muscles.

Unfortunately you cannot pick where the fat comes from, I'm a size 10 and (don't have a figure as good as yours!) my problem is my stomach and no matter how much weight I lose it doesn't shift there easily. I think it's hereditary where you store your fat.

You are in proportion and have a great silhouette, just lose the weight you want to and you will scale down in proportion.

How are you planning on losing weight?

Mrstumbletap · 14/04/2017 11:39

OP is that picture taken in the holiday villlage in Kos?

Reow · 14/04/2017 11:48

Your boobs look fantastic!

Yffy673 · 14/04/2017 20:34

You look amazing !!!

Katiep0tato · 15/04/2017 09:10

Spot reducing is a myth - when we lose weight it comes off everywhere, and usually the place we most want to lose from is the last to go - or at least we think it is because we focus on that area more than others. My trouble spot is my stomach, even at 18% body fat (a while ago now) it wasn't completely flat like yours. We can't fight our genetics.

Lifting weights = getting bulky is another myth, women simply don't have enough natural testosterone for this to happen. However, increasing muscle mass through weight training will lead to a higher metabolic rate and help burn more calories in the long run. Crash dieting plus hours of cardio = body burns muscle as a more efficient fuel source and ultimately lowers metabolism.

FourForYouGlenCoco · 15/04/2017 09:34

Oh OP I also have no good advice and am v late to posting but also wanted to say that you look cracking! If you feel you need to lose weight from a health perspective then go for it, but if it's just for vanity reasons then don't bother, you look fantastic. If it's hard to find clothes for your shape then just rock the bikini everywhere you go - office, train, day out with the kids Grin perfect solution!

MarvinKMooney · 15/04/2017 09:38

I think you look amazing too. And you haven't got big thighs, you've got a tiny waist. jealous emoticon

Gallavich · 15/04/2017 09:41

You're so lucky! I weigh the same as you, I have slim legs and a massive belly. I'd take your waist over my legs any day of the week.

millifiori · 15/04/2017 09:43

You have a FANTASTIC figure for your weight. Really gorgeous. I weigh a fair bit less than you but your bikini body is way nicer than mine. If I were a man or gay!

millifiori · 15/04/2017 09:44

Sorry - that's no help at all. But you are in proportion. The only advice I can suggest is Pilates. It didn't work for me (I also have thunderthighs) but a friend with very bulky thighs did it and within three months her thighs looked long and slender. Amazing change.

millifiori · 15/04/2017 09:46

Squats and side lunges help too. And old-fashioned Callanetics which was a very intensive deep muscle workout for legs. Out of style now but used to work a treat.

AnotheBloodyChinHair · 15/04/2017 09:51

You do have a very beautiful figure.
I also have disproportionately large thighs and would love to know how to slim them down.

whatiswrongwithyou · 15/04/2017 14:59

Exactly the same here too, and like another poster, long, slow running has made a huge difference to the shape of my thighs, after years of cycling that gave me legs like Chris Hoy!

I do weights too, but concentrate more on my hamstrings and butt.

allegretto · 15/04/2017 15:03

I think you look great too. My thighs are similar to yours but I weigh less as I have a small chest! You look very much in proportion so I wouldnt worry about slimming. Any exercise will help you stay toned.

EllenRipley · 15/04/2017 15:53

Another one who thinks you look bloomin fab! You've got a beautiful, well proportioned hour glass figure. And I'm not saying this as a "BUT you should...", but the only advice I'd have to give about weight loss is the only thing that's worked for me; HIIT exercise. It's great for your cardiac fitness and metabolism. I use a brilliant website called Fitness Blender. I lost weight a few years ago by combining this with an app called Fitness Pal which made me aware of my calorie intake (wouldn't normally do calorie controlled dieting). Now I don't count calories, I just make sure I do exercise 3-5 times p/w, even short bursts, and just make sure I'm generally active. That said, I still balk at wearing a bikini, whereas right now you're still rocking it! X

KatieKaboom · 15/04/2017 23:49

You look beautiful! I have a similar figure but without the great boobs. Envious!

Another vote for running 30-60 mins at a time (this started to slim my massive thighs visibly within a couple of weeks of jogging... it was dramatic) and a total body weights routine. Hourglasses and pears can look STUNNING with weight training. I'd avoid squats, lunges and other quad-builders, though, except in moderation.

LonginesPrime · 16/04/2017 00:01

If you want to change your body shape, I'd recommend bodypump.

However, you look fantastic as you are, OP, so I wouldn't overdo it!!

Dozer · 16/04/2017 10:04

Squats and lunges are great for strength and hip health though, which IMO are more important than thigh size. I've found they firm me up without bulking up.

delilahbucket · 16/04/2017 11:19

I also have problem thighs. I have lost 16.4kg. Across my body this equates to 4.5cm off my thighs, 1cm off my calves, 14cm off my waist, 10cm off my hips, 7cm off my bust and 4cm off my arms. My legs just don't want to get smaller. It drives me insane because clothes don't fit my waist if they fit my thighs and (very ample) bust. I'm classically hourglass. The only saving grace is I don't carry excess weight where is is most harmful.
I do lots of leg exercises like jumping squats and pilates. The only way I can feel even close to confident about baring my legs is to keep them toned. Running used be the best thing for this but I can't do so much of that these days due to injury.
