I am desperate to lose weight. I feel SO unhappy and I am sick of the enduring guilt after the most recent bout of self sabotage.

I want to lose around 3 stone and feel good about myself again, which I haven't done in years. I am 32 and sick of missing the old me. I do not carry extra weight well AT ALL- no shapely curves for me. I have had two c-sections, a twin pregnancy, depression (which has really impacted on my eating) and I've just had enough.

If anyone is in a similar situation or has been I would love to have some company. If not I shall be using this thread to waffle on to myself Grin

Current plan: start using my fitness pal again from tomorrow (I have had some success with this previously) and do some exercise tomorrow.

That's about all I have so far.

Wine

Oh and my username is an attempt at positivisty Grin

Hello thread, still hanging in here. Am actually looking forward to getting back to sensible eating as I feel so blobby and bloated at the mo.

Not yet though.

beforeihit30 · 28/12/2016 08:36

Have gone cold turkey on coffee, to set me up for drinking caffeine occasionally instead of regularly.

My head hurts Confused

Quite concerning how you can have these mild withdrawal symptoms just from coffee!

Have also lost 1lb since I started about a week ago, not calorie counting yet, just trying to be a bit more conscious about things, so that's good Smile I know weight fluctuates anyway but I think that's fairly the trend so I'm taking that.

RedMapleLeaf · 29/12/2016 08:58

Norovirus since Tuesday night means I've lost nearly half a stone Sad

Still, pretty good starting point for losing fat when I'm well again Smile

beforeihit30 · 29/12/2016 13:00

Shock Oh no Red. Wouldn't wish that on you, but at least you've identified a silver lining!

Feeling rubbish, wondering if my caffeine withdrawal has coincided with a virus or if this is what this feels like. Either way sticking to it, optimistic that by the end of this week I will feel much better.

Generally feeling a bit better though, less bloated, just being more conscious of what I'm eating so that's good.

Ellieboolou27 · 29/12/2016 13:35

Hi all
We were all hit with novovirus too! That's why I've not been on, both my girls been so ill the baby was worse, I didn't lose weight like you though red Blush I'm same weight I'm starting mfp again on Monday as I've not been well so can't face calorie counting ATM

RedMapleLeaf · 30/12/2016 10:58

How's everyone doing? I'm eating sensibly but no exercise yet - just letting my body gently recovering. I know that if I hit the gym too quickly I'll set myself back (but I'm really craving a workout!).

How's the caffeine withdrawal going before? I quit my huge Diet Coke habit earlier this year. I sometimes miss the ritual / secret treat aspect of enjoying a can, especially when others are sitting down to enjoy a cup of tea or glass of wine or something else I don't drink. But apart from that it feels great not to be a slave to needing a fix.

beforeihit30 · 30/12/2016 12:58

Ellie You too! You poor things. Hope you're better soon.

Red Not at all active but we've been eating much better and rediscovering healthier food. We weren't awful before, but started to heavily rely on red meat and carbs a lot. Today for instance I am working from home, so I made some fish cakes using sweet potato, with avocado on the side. I looked at them thinking there wasn't enough food, but we were stuffed! Couldn't finish them, I had 2.5 in the end.

The caffeine withdrawal seems to be improving. I must have got a virus at the same time, otherwise this stuff is serious. I have slept for a couple of hours during the day for the last few days, and have been going to bed early. My head and body have been aching. No other symptoms, so I thought it was just the caffeine but can't tell now! However I think I'm over the worst of missing it, I'm quite content with my caffeine free / decaf, had herbal tea for breakfast, admittedly discovered we have decaf Yorkshire tea so have had one of those today and one yesterday. I've replaced Coke Zero with fizzy water and have had no coffee.

My plan is to be low caffeine, I don't want to say goodbye to caffeine forever, but I felt I was having too much. Maybe a couple of coffees a week at the most, rather than per day, is what I'm thinking. Going to get some decaf coffee though (we have a Nespresso machine and theirs is Swiss water method and quite good).

That's good to hear about the Diet Coke habit and interesting about the comparison, I'm like that as I don't drink alcohol either so for me, a Coke Zero with a meal seems nice. However, I've now remembered what it's like just to have water with food, and you can appreciate the food more, so I don't think I'll be having Coke often.

LosingWeightFeelingGreat · 30/12/2016 21:02

Hi everyone, sorry late back to the thread. Hope you all had a good christmas!

With regards to caffeine withdrawal- I am desperate to stop drinking diet coke. I have been addicted for bloody years and really starting to worry about my teeth. When I have managed it previously for about a week I felt so horrendously ill. Stuff of the bloody devil.

Anyway I'm back to calorie counting tomorrow. To be honest, I haven't actually been too bad. I have been looking at clothes I want to buy online for inspiration. Also eager to start 30 day shred tomorrow. I just hope my body is ready (nearly 4 months after c-section- should be ok?!)

And Red Shock at the virus weight loss! How are you feeling now?

OP posts:
beforeihit30 · 30/12/2016 22:40

Losing So maybe it has just been withdrawal and not a virus! Shock

I have been interested in the 30DS for a while, let us know how it goes Smile I'm always worried if I do it I'll disturb my neighbours (live in a flat, back story, etc!).

No calorie counting here yet in full but have been logging, just not restricting yet. Being more conscious but did have big treat meal tonight... Blush

RedMapleLeaf · 31/12/2016 09:04

Still feeling rubbish here and bored, bored, bored Grin

We have some lovely food in, long walks planned (the weather's been great) and I had a clear run at the gym whilst off work. Nevermind, I'm travelling with work next week so at least this week I've been able to be poorly in my own bed and not worry about taking sick leave.

namesstress2323 · 31/12/2016 12:31

Can I join this! I also have horrible depression which leads me to binge daily& then get even more depressed. Need some positivy and support to help me lose a stone x

beforeihit30 · 31/12/2016 22:50

Still sucks to be sick when in hols Red Hope you enjoy the rest of it though Smile

Welcome names Do you have support for your depression? I used to be depressed and controlled a lot through food and binging, it is very hard until you get underneath the issues. I am still an emotional eater and stress eat too, but trying to address that by turning to other things to help process emotions or alleviate stress. Doesn't always work but getting there slowly.

Not entirely sure how to fully break the relationship between food and my emotions. But I've found taking care of myself generally has helped, like eating better overall, being more active, have a skincare regime etc, sounds simple but by investing more time in myself in other ways I find myself less inclined to comfort myself through just food. I also really like scented candles and nice fruit teas, again very simple but these are comforts of mine that I tend to forget due to the ease of grabbing some chocolate, so I remind myself regularly to make a nice fruit tea and buy a nice scented candle and light it as I find them comforting.

RedMapleLeaf · 02/01/2017 11:50

Thanks for well-wishes all and welcome names.

Over did things a bit yesterday and as I'm due back at work tomorrow I'm determined to take things slower today as I just have so little energy. My weight seems to have settled after last week's dehydration meaning I lost about 4 Christmas pounds of fat from December. Not bad. I've got five days' of free hotel food coming up, but it would be amazing to weigh-in on Sunday (when I'm back home) and found that I've not put any more weight on. So, that's my aim.

Exercise is going to take a hit too whilst I'm on the road. Nevermind, healthy living's a marathon not a sprint.

Ellieboolou27 · 02/01/2017 13:13

Hi everyone
Happy new year
Started mfp again today, am aiming to lose 7lb by end of Jan.
Going to make some lentil soup and salads so I can always have something healthy in the fridge Smile

VanillaLatteAndCake · 02/01/2017 13:24

Hello, hope I can join in too? I suffered after having my baby and comfort ate A LOT. I've got a friend's wedding at the end of July and I'd like to be able to attend, wear a nice dress and feel good about myself. At the moment I don't want to go out as I don't feel good about my size. Not sure on my actual weight but I've easily gone up 2 dress sizes.
I used to use mfp and aim to start again & gradually introduce exercise. My personal goal is to loose 1lb week until my friend's wedding.

Ellieboolou27 · 02/01/2017 17:05

Hi vanilla welcome Smile
I lost 2.5 stone in mfp after my first dc, put 3 stone on AFTER the 2nd dc Blush so starting mfp again today, I've set a 1lb a week target, I'm done with having anymore kids and it's my 40th in October and I want to be slim!

beforeihit30 · 04/01/2017 10:07

I have my Fitbit!

Now logging properly, as in I'm logging to be at deficit and not just recording what I'm eating. It was good to do that first though, it got me back into the habit and remembering more clearly the calories for different foods and such.

I've meal planned for this week, first for finance, but also for health, and I think this looks like my best meal plan yet as it's varied, fairly easy and plenty of food for various meals. Feeling good!

Have kept to low caffeine. Have the occasional green tea, or decaf tea, and have had a decaf coffee. I can taste and feel the difference but it's all good.

Hope you're all having a good week!

beforeihit30 · 07/01/2017 11:36

Nearly 2lb lost Smile First week of counting and I think it's always a bit higher at first, I don't expect it to be 2lb every week, but just gals that it's going in the right direction!

Enjoying having returned to a healthier approach to eating, and DH is on board too which is great, easier, and relief too as I want him to be slightly healthier (he's alright, but we both have chronic health conditions, his is more severe than mine, and it's important to manage it through diet as well).

beforeihit30 · 07/01/2017 11:37

*glad, not gals!

VanillaLatteAndCake · 08/01/2017 12:59

Well done for loosing 2lb!!! That's great Smile
I've been to a gym class this morning and weighed myself ready to start in earnest tomorrow. My aim is to loose 1lb a week. I bought some biscuits from Marks yesterday and realised today that if I kept them in the house, I'd happily eat them all...so, I've thrown them in the bin!! Shock

beforeihit30 · 08/01/2017 13:43

Great willpower Vanilla! I have foods that I don't trust myself with Blush Great on the gym too.

Haven't been to active the last couple of days but I've been largely organising stuff, this has been my week off and it's been all medical appointments, getting kids ready for nursery next week, etc. Tons of laundry Grin But not so many steps. Still, all going well and have kept within calories very happily, haven't deprived myself of anything or felt hungry or miserable.
