Sorry girls

Thanks JackieNo

We'll see if I do get back on the wagon. although we are in the process of booking a holiday for late Jul/early Aug so I have something to aim for now!

twoisenoughmum · 12/02/2007 15:31

Afternoon everyone - I'm back. Anybody miss me??? I've been lurking for a few days catching up on everyone's news, but haven't done anything remotely useful like eating sensibly. It's just been so stressful (money probs) and then our computer completely died on us and we were without it for ages. Luckily, DH managed to get it fixed by a computer whizz at work. Very lucky indeed re. the timing when I come to think of it, because he's being made redundant on Friday .

Anyway, I have a very big evening "do" to go to in the middle of March and I just want to be able to get back into a particular pair of evening trousers for it. (Can't afford to buy anything new!!!) So I must take myself in hand.

Anyone got some top tips to share? I eat far too much bread, butter, wine, too large portions, love my carbs. Not bothered by sweets, chocs, cakes, biscuits. Don't eat enough fruit (not bad with veggies and salads) and don't drink enough water.

Bearing in mind I only (Ha!) have 2 stone to lose, do you think I can lost 7lb in 5 weeks or am I just setting myself up for failure?

Heeeeeelllllppppp ladies, please ...

Dottydot · 12/02/2007 15:34

Yes, you can definitely lose 7lbs in 5 weeks (I'm being all positive at the moment!). I'm back on track and have done it mainly by upping my fluids - no sugar high juice drinks, coffee with sweetners (the sensible thing would be water but I hate it) and upping my exercise - bits of running, exercise video in the evening.

I'm finding tracking my food (or calorie counting if not WW) really helpful - it makes me think about everything I'm eating, or want to eat!

Good luck - it's good to have a nice goal to aim for that's not too scary or far away - 7lbs in 5 weeks is perfect - I might join you!

Dottydot · 12/02/2007 15:35

Portion size is quite an easy one to do - even if you just take 1 meal a day and cut it down a bit - I find it easiest to eat a smaller breakfast and lunch - much harder to cut down on my dinner portion!

suejonez · 12/02/2007 15:39

might order the william Leith book second hand then.

Can't beleive that I'm not even organised enough to weigh myself these days! Will aim for weighing Wednesday when my mum has D. otehrwise I will have to resort to my scales rather than the Boots ones which are far more accurate.

Haven't even attempted to diet although I'm not exactly out of control either, though I did have my first chinese takeaway since being back though I did make it last for two meals.

Dottydot · 12/02/2007 15:54

Chinese takeaways are irresistable though aren't they!! I'm being very good and NOT attempting to find one that's gluten-free..!

WigWamBam · 13/02/2007 14:23

Happy birthday, Dotty!

Can anyone remember how far we got with the idea of meeting up?

OP posts:
littlemisssensible · 13/02/2007 15:55

We'd made tentative plans for the 12th, which involved doing the walk for Maude then having coffee at someones home....suejonez possibly?

Saturday seemed to be the prefered day!

However several people couldn't do the 12th (I think) so we were trying to sort out another date in April/May!

Hope I've remembered that correctly!

WigWamBam · 13/02/2007 15:57

Thanks, LMS.

I could probably have re-read the thread but my brains are hurting today and I probably wouldn't have made much sense of them!

WigWamBam · 13/02/2007 16:07

WWB - thanks!! Will add my name to the list tomorrow hopefully when I've checked out the dates. In the meantime, permission to go slightly off the rails tonight - we're off out for a birthday meal - no alcohol 'cos I'll be driving, but I can hear pudding calling me already..! [Grin]

WigWamBam · 13/02/2007 16:42

Have a lovely time, Dotty.

And don't think about us giving you Hard Stares and wagging our fingers as you eat your pudding ...

Enjoy

JackieNo · 13/02/2007 17:05

Happy birthday Dotty - have a lovely time. Have some pudding for me.

I've just ordered the William Leith book from the library.

littlemisssensible · 13/02/2007 21:00

Happy Birthday Dotty,

Enjoy that pudding, thats an order!!!!

Life is to short to miss out pudding on your birthday IMHO!

Dottydot · 13/02/2007 21:50

Hi all - can report that the meal was wonderful and I DIDN'T have pudding (due to the fact that dp had made me a huge gluten-free chocolate birthday cake and we had a couple of slices each before we went for the meal..!!! ).

JackieNo · 13/02/2007 22:02

Yay - well done you. Cheers .

twoisenoughmum · 13/02/2007 22:09

Many many happy returns Dotty. Glad the meal was wonderful and how gorgeous to have cake before it!

P.S. Not sure about the 7lbs in 5 weeks ... last night, we had a Chinese takeaway! First time in months and months but I fairly and squarely lay the blame on you and suejonez for discussing it on here and putting the thought into my head! This morning for breakfast ... I had a huge chocolate croissant. Oh dear. I'll be gaining 7lb in 5 weeks at this rate.

JackieNo · 13/02/2007 22:13

Mmm...Chocolate croissant.... Oh well - the odd slip up won't hurt, just don't do too much of it and you should be fine. So sorry to hear about your DH. I hope he can find a new job soon.

littlemisssensible · 14/02/2007 13:08

Hi All,

Just been to my 2nd Inch Loss meeting and this one was a work out! Not too bad and they've set up new weights programmes for us! It seems to be ok and is certainly making me ache so hopefully it'll work!

The diet tends to be GI based which I'm finding a bit difficult to adjust to...mainly 'cos I have oats! Reaching some compromises though! Oat based crunchy cereal instead of cornflakes (bad) or porridge (very good but Bleargh!)

We'll see if its worked in 7 weeks time!

Hi Twoisenoughmum,
I'm sure you enjoyed the chinese and ocassional treats are allowed !

Hope Dh's job hunting is going well!

suejonez · 14/02/2007 16:03

Oh bugger was at Boots today and forgot to weigh (Sj slaps forehead) - might pop back later as my mum has D today

JackieNo · 14/02/2007 16:56

Don't worry Sue - we're doing it on a Thursday now, so if you can leave it till tomorrow that's fine.

Dottydot · 14/02/2007 19:22

Am off to have a wafer thin slice of birthday cake, and then exercising madly afterwards (it's weigh in tomorrow and I'm currently standing at 26.5lbs lost - I REALLY want to hit 28lbs tomorrow!)

justamum · 14/02/2007 20:00

Hello, anyone willing to welcome this prodigal mum back into the fold, I've been too ashamed to post due to my complete and utter uselessness at even eating remotely sensibly. So my weight loss is zero, but then I haven't gained any either which is mildly positive.
I haven't read the whole thread but are the dates for the "walk for Maud" or just a general meet up? Do you know if anyone is planning a walk in the Birmingham area at all? Would a very casual and sporadic mofo be invited?
