I am over 3 stone overweight , it annoys me and saddens me so why the hell can I not buck up and eat properly ?

I go to the gym twice a week , I aim to do 10000 steps a day and mostly I am over .

I am not losing weight because I eat too much .

I am not talking obscene amounts but enough to keep me fat .

Any tips ? A kick ?

Someone who has succeeded who would be willing to kick me would've handy as well .

Totally joining you lovely ladies.

I used to be able my weight in crap and be a size 4. Then I turned 21, had a melt down at uni, wound up in a dead end job and met a lovely guy and only need to look at a bar of chocolate to pile on pounds.

Using MFP to keep me on the straight and narrow. Tried slimming world but it was not for me.

Started a weekly class, promised the dog a better walk and am going to try to arrange the bedroom to have room to do DVDs or something when the other half is watching crap on tv.

Any suggestions on DVDs or YouTube video as?

Hello playing
Ive just arranged to look at a gym at 6.30pm tonight- what a sight that will be going to make them all feel sick!
I used to do body pump classes and not be able to walk up the stairs for a couple of days afterwards, so maybe I'll go back to that.
I've heard couch to 5k is good?

FeedMyFaceWithJaffaCakes · 20/07/2016 19:28

I have joined a gym.
God help me.

Howlongtillbedtime · 20/07/2016 20:09

Well done Jaffa that is a fab step .

What's your plan ? I am off on a pokemon hunt ( with my children I am not too weird Wink)

I've just had one last hurrah of junk food and now the cupboards are clear of all shit.
Made a shopping list of healthy foods and a meal plan for the next two weeks!
Going to alternate nights of gym and walking.
Will be walking 2x day from 20th August anyway as our little puppy Fleur comes home and right from the off we want to carry her in our arms so she gets used to traffic noise etc. Here's a pic of her :)

MrsNutella · 20/07/2016 21:18

Jaffa welcome!! Your puppy is gorgeous!!! Awwwwwww congratulations on the new addition Smile

Howlong your explanation that it is small habits that have led us here is brilliant. So simple and eloquent and so right!

A few things I picked up on the 5:2 boards (which I still lurk around) are - to eat like a lady not a Labrador. And if you are having a fast day whatever the thing you are craving is, you tell yourself that you can have it tomorrow.

I think it's a good rule to aim to move more but generally to look at what you eat first. I'm trying to reduce my carb intake. My Mum has been harvesting loads of lettuce, tomatoes and green beans from her garden so I try and take a huge spoonful of those at dinner and a small spoonful of potatoes/other carb on offer.

I wish I ate so many veggies at home! It's something I'm going to have to change about how I cook.

FeedMyFaceWithJaffaCakes · 20/07/2016 21:26

Just off on a little walk now, don't think we'll go as far tonight feel a bit sick after too much dinner but every little helps :)

Howlongtillbedtime · 21/07/2016 08:14

That puppy is gorgeous Jaffa .

I am off for a walk once the children are at school , I have loads of boring jobs I have to do today so a walk is a pleasant distraction rather than a chore for a change .

Then home for boiled eggs and to meal plan the rest of the day .

Good luck everyone .

Morning everyone!
She certainly is a cutie. We've been visiting her every Saturday since she was born and I'm totally in love Smile
I'm off for a walk around a NT property with my mum today, I dare say there will be a small bit of cake involved but it's jacket potatoes and salad for tea tea tonight.
I didn't manage to have any breakfast though :(

PlayingGrownUp · 21/07/2016 11:10

I've found trying to stick to three meals a day helps. Every morning I put a satsuma and a banana in bag to snack on but it's all I'm allowed.

Your puppy is adorable! Try walking her on her lead around your garden. When we first walked Our spaniel cross he was so horrified at being on a lead he cried constantly for 2 months. And you'll be amazed at the sprints you can do when they start peeing on the floor/sofa!

CharleyDavidson · 21/07/2016 12:17

Hi. Joining in if I can.

Last year I had a hip operation and put on weight then lost my dad and gained more. In Jan I started being more careful and I've lost half a stone but am stuck and need to lose more.

I've got a food diary, a fridge full of healthy stuff and I've joined the local fitness centre. I already do 2 zumba classes a week but am off now for the 6 weeks holiday and can fit in more classes to make the membership worthwhile. I'm mostly working on regaining my strength and flexibility after the lowing it while they failed to diagnose what was wrong with my hip for 4 years!

I've done my class for today so have got 5k steps under my belt already. What I need to do is address my snacking on unhealthy things late at night. I am going to stop baking, stop buying treats and limit them to one thing I've really been craving a week.

FeedMyFaceWithJaffaCakes · 21/07/2016 13:15

I'm surviving today.
Hi Charley feel free to join.
Here is my lunch :)

Fat , frumpy and f***ed off !
PlayingGrownUp · 21/07/2016 14:57

That looks amazing! Yummy

FeedMyFaceWithJaffaCakes · 21/07/2016 15:43

Have walked a bit today, think I'm going for gym induction tonight ahhhh oh fuck oh fuck oh fuck. Having BBQ and salad tonight, so reasonably healthy.
Smile

BagelGoesWalking · 21/07/2016 15:47

Salad looks lovely!

Good luck with your gym induction. Just take it slowly and hopefully they'll give you a plan to follow. Don't be afraid to say if it seems too hard.

Friend of our went for sessions with a trainer at a gym and they were totally over the top for his age and level of fitness. Which means, of course, he gave up after a few weeks! Better to start off with short, do-able sessions that you're likely to stick with and improve with time.

FeedMyFaceWithJaffaCakes · 22/07/2016 09:54

I've been woken up feeling sick to my stomach and with a banging headache.
Just had 30g of Dorset cereals granola with yoghurt on, it's Yeo valley Greek style honey one. I didn't get 0% fat because I'm not sure I really want to put all that sweetener shit into my body? Surely it's better to have the fat but just not eat so much? And sugar wise, I was checking labels and trying not to get anything where sugar is in the top 4 ingredients....
Off to the gym again tonight and my funny DP wants to relive his youth and go Pokemon spotting Hmm
How are you guys all getting on?

CharleyDavidson · 22/07/2016 18:29

Another morning:another zumba class. I'm doing three a week in the mornings and another one or two in the evening. All in the name of raising my fitness (and making the membership cost worthwhile during the hols while I'm off work/school).

So despite sitting on my bum with DD2 watching the BFG, I've still managed to clock up 9K steps so far.

I'm managing to resist the boxes of chocolates that I got from children in my class and have just tasted one or two instead of diving in with gay abandon. :) A lot of chocolates are really too sweet for me these days after cutting out a lot of junk. That makes me sound like I'm virtuous. I'm not. :)

No breakfast, some chicken and bacon kebab things and an apple for lunch. Pork and pepper kebabs, potato and sweet potato wedges for dinner with peas and sweetcorn. And there will be a small sweet-something later. Possibly a twirl.

Need to get onto nutracheck to log it all now and see where I am as far as cals go.

dirtycrispeater · 22/07/2016 18:49

OP, it's as if you are inside my head. I'm 2 stone overweight and fed up. Turned 40 4 months ago and have been too crap/ lazy to do anything about it. I put all the weight on after the birth of my son and thought I'd lose it all through breastfeeding.....Blush
So can I join in please? I am cutting out alcohol and crisps (even the dirty ones, sigh) and hope to lose at least a stone by Christmas. Or am I aiming too low?

FeedMyFaceWithJaffaCakes · 22/07/2016 19:48

Dinner tonight: I started chomping before I took the picture!

  • JP with tuna and sweet pen mixed with 2tbsp of mayo, teensy bit of halloumi, 1tbsp of coleslaw, 2 pickled onions, and salad :)

OHMYGOSH I have just done the first day c25k and thought I was going to die!!
Still I will do it again tomorrow...

Howlongtillbedtime · 23/07/2016 07:25

Well done Jaffa , I am about to start WK four and loving it so far .

I am out tonight at a party so I really need to plan my food for the day and make sure I stick to it .

OP posts:
FeedMyFaceWithJaffaCakes · 23/07/2016 14:10

Had granola and yog for breakfast again and for lunch 2 wholemeal pittas and one of those mini pots of hummus.
Think Jp for dinner again :)
How are you guys all doing?

MrsNutella · 23/07/2016 15:17

Just checking in... All I have managed to resist the last couple of days is an ice cream with the kids in the afternoon Confused

You sound like you're doing great Jaffa! I will need to be on really good behaviour when I get home from my holiday.

CharleyDavidson · 23/07/2016 22:06

Bad day. Toast and eggs for breakfast and was feeling virtuous. Then went to Chester with DH and the DDs and ended up going to a restaurant for dinner on the way home. No salad or light options that I liked the sound of (no salads at all!) so I had gammon and chips and enjoyed it. It was, however, just one meal as we ate in the middle of the afternoon so it was actually dinner and lunch combined. Plenty of salad from the salad bar too. And no pudding.

I've indulged in a bit of end of year chocolate with a cuppa. And adjusted my cals on nutracheck as it lets you choose a day or two that is higher than the other days in allowance and adjusts the other days to compensate. Next Thurs is my next bad day - lunch out with work friends. So that week Thurs will be my 'high' day and I shall concentrate on being as good as possible til then. Excercise/dance classes already booked for Mon, Wed, Thurs and Fri. :)
