I have just started my weight loss plan for 2016, having lost a quite a lot of weight last year (3 stone). Had regained some over the last couple months, but it is coming off now. Would love to chat to others also on low carb, or VLCD, so we can support each other and share tips etc. Grin

Hi everyone and well done. I've been quiet this week but have been sticking to my plan. 1 week and 10lbs down. My S&S order has arrived so I am going to try different flavours over the weekend and decide what to buy in for the next couple of weeks.

I've been trying to sole source as for me I go off the rails quite quickly if I eat - I do better taking food out of the equation. I'm trying to work out how to tackle the next week as I have a few work-related social events, including a lunch and a dinner. I got around drinks events this week by blaming dry January for my glass of water. I guess I will try to low carb for lunch/dinner and hope to get back on track the next day. Any other tips?

PutThatDownNow · 16/01/2016 12:34

Hi Jane I usually find headaches are worse in the first few days. Drinking lots of water and taking some paracetamol helps for me. Good luck however you decide to play it.

AndOneMoreThing · 16/01/2016 17:30

Well done PutThatDown that's an awesome first week. I've lost another 4lbs this week so I'm happy with that. I think all this cold weather could be burning a few extra lbs!

PutThatDownNow · 19/01/2016 21:25

Thanks AndOneMoreThing, well done to you too.

Am enjoying the S&S packs this week. Just had mushroom pasta, threw loads of fresh mushrooms in and it was tasty and filling, a nice change from shakes. Although the shakes I've had have all been ok and some surprisingly nice (choc caramel for breakfast today was good).

How is everyone doing?

Hi can I join please. Just ordered an exante sample pack to try. I need to lose 2 stone initially to qualify for an op but long term would like to lose 6stone. I find that I can be good till the evening woth food and than it all goes wrong. So thought taking food out of equation will help.

Zeisty10 · 26/01/2016 12:54

Hello browneyedgirl1974 I am on Exante and find it goo. I have the same problem! I am finding it hard to stick at the moment. I have lst 3 stone and no over really overweight. Just have one spare tyre to go, about a stone or so. It's not pressing any more, but still want to shift it! :)

browneyedgirl1974 · 26/01/2016 15:14

Thank you. Hopefully pack will arrive tomorrow. If I like the products I will order a bigger pack. They seem to be reasonably priced.

plumstone · 26/01/2016 15:30

Can I join too please. I have just ordered Exante on the 100 for £85.00 which means if I stick with it - I will not need to buy food for a month!!!! Stood on the scales this morning and almost jumped off. 12st 7lbs is way too much, and my fail safe "fat days" stretchy blue dress couldn't hide the bumps this morning. 3st would be fabulous and 2.5 is the absolute minimum preferably before the end of May. I am 5ft 6 and look at my best at 10st. but would like a half stone buffer to play with! Is it really hard? I have nothing scheduled for Feb so am hoping the lack of social life for a month will focus the mind somewhat!!!

browneyedgirl1974 · 26/01/2016 16:40

I nearly ordered the 100 for 85 plumstone but entered it on the wrong screen. Nearly decided not forget it but got an email offering 35 for £30 instead. Just need some willpower noe.

browneyedgirl1974 · 26/01/2016 16:41

To forget it.

plumstone · 26/01/2016 17:56

My willpower is vanity - and the lard ring that is poking over the top of my jeans - I swear I will look different when I see friends and family at the end of March - I also have two lovely dresses that I have not fitted for two year - this summer will be the year!!!!

Zeisty10 · 27/01/2016 08:08

Morning ladies! Welcome Plumstone Have been off the wagon..will try and calm down today, but have a dinner party on Sat eve, I said yes to it ages ago How do you guys cope with social events?! Any tips?!

OP posts:
plumstone · 27/01/2016 08:33

Well to be fair i have nothing scheduled for Feb, its really busy work wise, and just easier if I become a hermit socially for the month. However I have stuff on in March. Depending on the social event, e.g. drinks/cocktails with lots of people - like over 15 I would probably cry off that day, offer to meet for coffee later - they really won't miss me. However anything less, if they are good friends they will be supportive, and understand. If they don't and you have to be there, then tall glass sparkling water looks like a G&T, and if you are offered food, just say no thank you. Dinner parties until I am two stone off I will be turning down, and suggesting that the I meet up later in the summer. Had to do that last night on the phone, said it with a lot more conviction than I though, and the response was "OK sure let me know when you are free" - works for me right now. I think turning stuff down canapés, crisps is easier if you look the person in the eye, smile, and confidently say no thank you, no apology no explanation, anyone with manners will accept this, and if anyone doesn't - then I would leave, its not school and its not a cigarette - go one one won't hurt - thats peer pressure and not in a good way and no one would accept that being done to a child so why should it be done to an adult - possibly a bit strong but you get the drift. Alternatively go off grid for three months - and emerge butterfly like all chic, svelte and georgoise!!! Grin

toastyarmadillo · 27/01/2016 08:34

Can I join you ladies?
I did Cambridge 7 years ago, did really well got down to a size 10, husband left me and I gave up without doing any maintenance programme.
Now after two more children and numerous medical problems I am the heaviest and most miserable I have ever been.
Doing exante this time round for cost reasons, day one I weighed a massive 16st 3lbs.
I know vlcd work for me, and spent today rereading old vlcd threads here on mumsnet to inspire and motivate me.
Day 6 today, no cheating and after a sneaky weigh in already 4 lbs down.
I have been adding a tablespoon of psyllium husks to various shakes with hot water then blending to make a hot custard/pudding thing. Your body can't break down the husks so they don't add any calories, carbs etc just bulk meals out, keep me full longer and best of all keep me regular 😉

BinaryFinary · 27/01/2016 08:50

Hello all, I could do with a bit of a kick up the bum. I lost 2.5 stone between September and December on exante, I really got in the zone and wasn't missing food at all. Then I gave up over Xmas, was still careful about booze and not massively overeating and I've lost another few pounds, but now I want to get back on it and drop the final stone.

I've had two false starts this week, good all day then giving in to snacks in the evening so today it the day I get back on total solution. Hopefully I'll be in ketosis by the end of the weekend and back to feeling good and not hungry. Just must not fall into what's left of the Christmas chocolate when I get home from work :)

browneyedgirl1974 · 27/01/2016 19:33

Hope my pack arrives soon. Should have gone for next day delivery. Just sticking to low cal for now. Not read all the info yet but apart from water what else can you drink on exante please.

plumstone · 28/01/2016 08:53

Ok so the box was opened and thats a lot of food packs!!!!!! However there is no leaflet or info - so it will be three per day till they are finished, then with the money I have saved as I "technically" will not need to buy food for the rest of February, I would like to think that I can but a slightly smaller item of clothing - thinking dress, they make getting ready for work sooooooo much easier, however Russel and Bromley is my crack cocaine, so it may be shoes as they never make me look fat!!! Anywho had the whole chocolate and raspberry bar for diner last night, actually not bad - also feel a lot of early nights over the next four weeks, was hungry at 9pm so went to bed. Woke up this morning starving, but I always am in the morning, so no great surprise, will aim for a soup pack this evening as real food is running low, normal tomorrow and then start properly Saturday - Am actually very excited by this!!!!! Have a great day!

Browne - think its water, fizzy or still, black tea and black coffee and thats it!!!

BinaryFinary · 28/01/2016 11:15

i think you can buy water flavourers but i've not used them

Day 2 for me, well day 1 really as i did accidentally eat some ham last night

browneyedgirl1974 · 28/01/2016 13:16

Ok thank you. Have to quit my diet coke habit than.

Zeisty10 · 30/01/2016 15:11

browneyedgirl1974 Glad it is not just me addicted to diet coke then! Only when I am on the diet though, have it only occasionally at other times. Anyone know what else I might drink when on the low carb diet? I did get into lemon water for while. Smile

OP posts:
browneyedgirl1974 · 31/01/2016 15:33

I don't think diet coke has any carbs so actually can't see it being a problem. Although I have stuck to water since Friday and it has been ok.

BinaryFinary · 31/01/2016 17:37

I read somewhere* that the citric acid in Diet Coke can throw ketosis out so Coke Zero is better

No idea if / how this can be true but if I'm
Starving myself I'm inclined to not screw things up for the sake of a Diet Coke

browneyedgirl1974 · 01/02/2016 16:37

Me neither.

SakuraRose · 04/02/2016 14:53

Afternoon! Is there room for another one in here? Just started S&S about 6 days ago, and I lost 3 stone with it last year, so time to get back on it and shift the rest of the weight. I'm 5ft, and started at 16st 11lbs (!) which feels awful for me, although not as bad as this time last year when I was a gnat's chuff away from 20st.

I am also hosting a party in a few days, which I had completely forgotten about when I started the diet, so now I am going to have to grit my teeth and not give in to the wine and snacks. It's a costume party; do you think I can wire my teeth together and somehow class it as part of my outfit?!
