Okay, so here is the thing.I need to lose 3 stone. My eating 'history' is of crash dieting. Slimming Clubs. Fairly entrenched bulimia. Food fears.

I am tired of all that. I want to eat really well. Eat amazing gorgeous food. With an emphasis on 'real' food. Strong leaning towards a so-called 'Mediterranean' approach where the focus is on eating well and emphatically not dieting.

I have been struggling with my weight for35 years. Now I want to noruish my body and my soul.

I do not care how long it takes for me to lose 3 stone.... my focus is on health and dealing with my very fear-filled relationship with food.

Anyone wish to join me?

Today's menu plan;

B - homemade rhubarb compote with greek yoghurt, honey and walnuts. A boiled egg.

L - vegetable soup made with cannelini beans, fresh tomatoes, chicken stock, fresh spinach, onions and celery with a slice of crusty bread.

D - salmon smeared with pesto baked in the oven, greek salad.

P- baked apples and raisons with honey.

I do not drink alcohol which is a help and I generally do not have a sweet tooth.

I'd like to be 9 stone by summer next year- currently 12 stone and barely 5 ft.

It's a lovely range of meat products, I tried them for the first time last year at the BBC Good Food show and now they're in big supermarkets.

lastqueenofscotland · 03/11/2015 12:32

Hi all

Today - no breakfast as I say never have it
Lunch - left over veggie green curry
Dinner - Cous Cous with pesto, cucumber, red onion, cherry toms and feta

CheesyNachos · 04/11/2015 10:28

that couscous looks great Queen.

Jasper I have been inspired by your soup... have just made a minestrone using beans instead of pasta.

Today

B - ham sandwich (on the run)
L- minestrone
D- Nigella's mustardy cider lamb chops with wilted greens, broccoli and green beans.
P-homemade raspberry compote with creme fraiche and maple syrup.

CheesyNachos · 04/11/2015 10:28

sorry- that was pork chops, not lamb.

Some lovely menus here - might use them for my meal planning Smile.

I made some lovely cupcakes yesterday for ds's birthday - limiting myself to 1 a day until they're all gone.

yesterday I had:
B: porridge made with ss milk and honey
L: seeded flatbread with cheese
T: pasta with mushroom pesto (made with cream) and a lemon drizzle cupcake.

today:
B: banana and pear with rhubarb and custard yoghurt
L: Pasta in tom sauce
T: Thai Prawn Noodle salad and choc cupcake for pud.

Really enjoying eating nice, full fat, organic food, but I am keeping an eye on the overall portion sizes and trying not to have seconds. Ditto eating between meals. So I have been having a big bowl of fruit at 3.45 when the kids come in as I know that is when I'll binge snack on rubbish.

I have also cut out tea and coffee, trying to have just hot water with a slice of lemon/lime instead - feeling much better for it already.

HairsprayQueen · 04/11/2015 11:28

Usual muesli for breakfast here, egg on toast for lunch and leek and potato soup for tea. Slightly uninspiring today but wholesome, natural, good quality food which is what I'm focussing on!

CheesyNachos · 05/11/2015 08:32

Morning all.

I made a huge pot of minestrone yesterday...had a huge bowl and then DH came in looking sheepish and said he had finished the lot. That soup was meant to last 3 days!!!!

B- croissant, apple and orange

L- liver with sauteed kale, and gnocchi that has been cooked then tossed in the pan juices with some mustard. (I woke with a craving for liver. How odd).

D- sweetcorn and potato chowder with crusty bread. DS has a roast lunch at school today so he will not want much, and a nice soup sounds about perfect. Inspired by *Hairsprays' dinner from last night!

have a rare couple of hours to myself so plan to spend that in the gym.

Morning all

I seemed to forget to post yesterday.
So I had:
B - nothing. I had a nap with DD instead Grin
L - bruschetta then spinach ravioli. Out. Never finished it as it was soooooo rich
D - sausages, home made onion gravy and fries

Today
B - toast and peanut butter
L - ryvita and smoked salmon and cheese (the pack is just about done now!!)
D - tbd. Going to raid the freezer and see what I have

Aiming for two litres of water again

And going to make a pot of soup for over the weekend. Thinking leek and potato to use up veg Smile

HairsprayQueen · 05/11/2015 09:04

Usual breakfast, for lunch I've just seen a recipe from Deliciously Ella with mashed sweet potato and carrots, spicy chickpeas and greens so I think I'll have that. For dinner it was going to be chicken thigh stew with sweet potato mash but DH isn't keen on sweet pots so that's why I'll have them at lunch and I'll do maybe rice with the stew?

PittacusLore · 05/11/2015 09:32

It is definitely a soup time of year isn't it. I might join in and make leek and potato too. Seeing as I've got the leeks and potatoes.

my plan for today:
B: not had it yet, but probably fruit and yoghurt
L: leftover pasta (we seem to have an endless supply)
T: Salmon and broccoli

And then out for Bonfire night where I might have a hot chocolate! [Why is there no Bonfire emoticon?]

comeagainforbigfudge · 05/11/2015 10:14

Right
Freezer raid has produced what I think is beef stew and some pastry. think I'll turn them into pasties. Soup then pasties for dinner sounds ideal Grin

LittleWoofDoesntDog · 05/11/2015 14:00

Can I join in too please? I am currently weighing in at 10 stone 5lbs, having lost about 19lbs since beginning of April using exercise alone. I now need to really concentrate on my diet to lose the last stone!
I eat quite healthily I think but my downfall is sweet things and I also binge as well, if I am emotional or lonely. This thread has already given me so many ideas and I can see it being really supportive. I want to eat well - not diet!

LittleWoofDoesntDog · 05/11/2015 15:02

Are you sticking to certain number of calories or are you just eating healthy and well?
I do have MFP but tend to only use it on fast days - probably fast once or twice a week but haven't noticed any difference at all to my weight.
Today I am semi-fasting!
I have had a big fresh salad made up of chicken breast, spinach leaves, cucumber and cherry tomatoes. 2 lovely coffees, an Options hot chocolate, satsuma, apple & banana. I feel good and full up too!
Im craving some sweets this afternoon but I'm resisting.

comeagainforbigfudge · 05/11/2015 18:54

Littlewoof I'm using mfp but not really to calorie count. More to track what I'm eating with regards to salt/sugar etc

Not that I've been doing it very long Grin

CheesyNachos · 10/11/2015 06:17

Hi everyone, how is everyone doing?
Today for me

B- greek yoghurt, 1 orange, 1 pear
L- huge salad
D- beef curry with dhal and rice, homemade.

OP posts:
HairsprayQueen · 10/11/2015 14:14

I had granola for breakfast, avocado and egg on toast for lunch, having Thai sweet potato soup for dinner probably with flatbread.

PittacusLore · 16/11/2015 10:56

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. It's been a busy week or so.

Some things slipped last week, but I generally have done quite well and although I haven't weighed myself, I managed to squeeze into some old jeans that I previously couldn't fasten at all. Cant say they're a great fit yet (they give me serious muffin top), but pleased I could get them on.

I've decided to try and ditch sugar too, and so Friday and Saturday were Sugar Free. Gave in for a small piece of homemade apple pie with ice cream yesterday, but fingers crossed I can keep it up. 3 nights out Blush planned this week, so it's not going to be easy.

Today's meal plan:
B: poached eggs on wholemeal buttered toast.
L: Homemade tomato and squash soup
T: Chicken salad.

Also nibbling on some almonds throughout the day to help with the sugar cravings

lastqueenofscotland · 16/11/2015 12:41

I was thinking about this thread earlier!
I've lost 4lb in two weeks which is goood.

Going to really focus on not drinking my calories this week,

Today
Lunch: hallumi hummous salad wrap
Dinner white bean mushroom soup.

comeagainforbigfudge · 16/11/2015 13:00

I totally went off the plot with my food. To scared to weigh myself Sad

Back on it today
L - ryvita and cream cheese and smoked salmon
D - toad in the whole with veg and roasters

Been to aldi for a meat run. So going to plan my meals for this week. Need to dig out my veggie books as we eat far to many meat based meals!

PittacusLore · 17/11/2015 10:35

Ah, comeagain definitely don't weigh yourself. Just put it behind you and carry on. You can have as many fresh starts as you like. Smile

We ended up having Sea Bream last night as ds is obsessed with the fish counter. It was lovely - I just wrapped it in foil with a blob of butter and baked it in the oven for 15 mins and served with potato gratin and broccoli.

My plan today:
B: poached eggs on brown toast (think I'm developing an addiction)
L: Tom soup as yesterday - there's just enough left. With Tiger Bread.
D: Pasta with mushrooms and pesto.

I have managed to buy a pot of vanilla Quark (rather than plain quark)- Does anybody have any ideas of what I can do with it that won't involve adding more sugar? Other than just eating it.

JasperDamerel · 17/11/2015 13:03

Fruit compote. With mulling spices.

Alternatively, microwave frozen raspberries until they are hot and mushy.

comeagainforbigfudge · 18/11/2015 08:42

Ok. I weighed myself. I should have resisted but on the plus side I'm still 14st 10lbs. So although I had a bad week it wasn't dreadful.

Dusted self off to start proper as I'm really fed up feeling HUGE

Yesterday
B - nothing (dd distracted me with her laughing at Aleksandr the meerkat toy)
L - veg soup and 2 slices toast
D - teriyaki salmon, rice and veg
Snacks - 3 off the tiny-est cakes ever.
3 mini twix and a few gummy sweets

Today
B - apple and cheese slices, two satsumas
L - wholemeal toast and either soup or spaghetti hoops
D - slow cooked chicken with bbq sauce, sweet potato fries and probably corn on the cob

It's horrible here today, need to go to Asda for nappies. Otherwise it's a day in. Think I'll need to drink various teas to stop me snacking on junk Blush
L -

PittacusLore · 18/11/2015 09:24

Thanks Jasper, I stewed some pears in the end. Never thought of adding spices - mental note made.

Well done comeagain, we can do it. I've been finding babybel light are a decent alternative to crap, and I don't seem to indulge in any bingeing behavior with them, unlike olives and nuts.

Today for me:
B: 1/2 a bagel & butter (dd's leftovers Blush)
L: avocado on toast
T: Jacket pot with chickpea and kale curry.

My veg box gets delivered on a Wed. It makes me feel all virtuous and healthy. Got some nice things today so I can enjoy some meal planning later.
