The Glorious Food diet. :)

Okay, so here is the thing.I need to lose 3 stone. My eating 'history' is of crash dieting. Slimming Clubs. Fairly entrenched bulimia. Food fears.

I am tired of all that. I want to eat really well. Eat amazing gorgeous food. With an emphasis on 'real' food. Strong leaning towards a so-called 'Mediterranean' approach where the focus is on eating well and emphatically not dieting.

I have been struggling with my weight for35 years. Now I want to noruish my body and my soul.

I do not care how long it takes for me to lose 3 stone.... my focus is on health and dealing with my very fear-filled relationship with food.

Anyone wish to join me?

Today's menu plan;

B - homemade rhubarb compote with greek yoghurt, honey and walnuts. A boiled egg.

L - vegetable soup made with cannelini beans, fresh tomatoes, chicken stock, fresh spinach, onions and celery with a slice of crusty bread.

D - salmon smeared with pesto baked in the oven, greek salad.

P- baked apples and raisons with honey.

I do not drink alcohol which is a help and I generally do not have a sweet tooth.

I'd like to be 9 stone by summer next year- currently 12 stone and barely 5 ft.

Some gorgeous looking dishes on this thread!

I also want to avoid passing on my food issues to my son. He is only 5 and has caught me vomiting sometimes. I thought he was too young to 'get' it but yesterday he ate a happy meal and then commented he had 'eaten too much of food' and wanted to be 'sick'.

Dear God. :(

I am watching myself carefully now. No talking about weight. No talking about forbidden foods.

That's a good plan for weighing- I think I'll do the same.

Just going to have an egg on a slice of sourdough toast. Roast chicken, roast potatoes and broccoli for lunch and then cauliflower cheese soup this evening.

Loads of Halloween chocolate left over, going to save them for DH's packed lunch as a money saving trick so hopefully that'll keep me out of them, but if I have one or two no big deal Smile

Have a good day everyone.

helenahandbag · 01/11/2015 09:42

Cheesy good for you for taking control before your son gets older. I am a non-purging bulimic, using restriction and exercise to cause a deficit rather than vomiting or laxitives. It's so hard not to fall back on old habits when you eat 'bad' things.

I'm a total slave to the scales and I'd like to stay off them but with just over 5 months until my wedding, I need some measure of how I'm doing in between measuring myself.

I scrapped my dinner plans last night as I was really close to bingeing so I had a buttered roll with oven chips and some Chinese-style curry sauce. Not very nutritious but it was exactly what I wanted and making it myself meant that I could control the portion size and ingredients.

Today:

B: Stewed apple with full fat yoghurt and muesli, coffee

L: Baked potato with beans and cheese

D: Gammon, roast potatoes, broccoli, sprouts, gravy. Maybe a Yorkshire pudding.

S: I have plenty of fruit if I really need something in between.

NoahVale · 01/11/2015 09:46

this sounds like a good diet, food glorious food.
i have never dieted.
it probably shows.
i am on mfp but it has not made a blind bit of difference. well perhaps 3 lbs since I started several months ago.

NoahVale · 01/11/2015 09:47

perhaps I have cut down on the carbs portions though, and the unhealthy stuff. perhaps

lastqueenofscotland · 01/11/2015 11:43

Going to go shopping of all my lovely food for my meals in the week today. Lots and lots of veggies and healthy carbs.

dalek · 01/11/2015 11:48

BLODSS What was the book that you read?

helenahandbag · 01/11/2015 14:32

I love the flexibility of not dieting Grin

I wasn't hungry at lunch time and I've popped into town for a few things. I'm having a nice coffee and two slices of fruit toast with butter. Dinner will now be a jacket potato with butter, some gammon and salad. No guilt at all either.

comeagainforbigfudge · 01/11/2015 16:06

I like the idea of only weighing twice a month but as im on my periods i darent weigh myself until ive deflated from that!

Restrained myself quite well last night considering how many sweets are about!

Today:
B - two slices of doorstop bread, toasted with a cup of tea
L- fruit. Doorstop bread filled me up
D- curly fries and bbq chicken drumsticks.

Exercise 50 min walk pushing pram

Tomorrow's plan (at the moment)
B - porridge with grated apple
L - Ryvitas with philadelpia cheese and smoked salmon
D - homemade lasagne

OH is making bbq sauce from scratch. The smells are making me hungry. Off to tend to grumpy dd. Hopefully will distract me for a wee while

lastqueenofscotland · 02/11/2015 07:42

As I've finally been shopping! I also weigh more than I though so 15lbs in 10 weeks lets do this!

B- nothing (never have breakfast)
L- panini with Mozarella pesto tomato and red onion mmm
S- Thai green curry with loads of veg (courgette, brocolli, mange tout, baby corn) and jasmine rice.

Hoping two substantial tasty meals a day for 10 weeks will get me there!
Going to weigh in on Mondays

JasperDamerel · 02/11/2015 08:15

Have just had a tasty breakfast of porridge with grated apple and cinnamon and a dollop of Greek yogurt. I'm listening to a weight loss hypnosis app to help with portion control and choosing real food over junk food.

Food shopping today, so I'll see what's good.

HairsprayQueen · 02/11/2015 08:20

Good morning all

Plan for today is muesli for breakfast, leftover cauli cheese soup for lunch and chicken 'pie' for dinner (the filling of chicken and veg with a little puff pastry circle on top). Looking forward to every bit!

CheesyNachos · 02/11/2015 08:46

Good morning!!!!!

Lovely to see so many people here prepared to revolutionise their approach to food!. :)

I was a bit depressed to see I was over 12 stone I have to say- I did not hit 12 stone the day before I gave birth.

But, onwards and downwards.

I have just had two poached eggs and half a baguette. Mmmmm.

About to go to the gym also and will do 30 minutes of treadmill and 30 of the stationary bike.

have re-jigged my ideas and plan to weigh in every 10 days. :)

Morning everyone, these menus all look lovely!

B: Porridge with chopped banana and a drizzle of maple syrup

L: Homemade ham and lentil soup, a roll with 2 slices of roast pork, wholegrain mustard and a tsp of apple sauce

D: Leftover gammon with potatoes, veg and gravy

S: I have two clementines and a yoghurt with me if I need them this afternoon

PittacusLore · 02/11/2015 10:09

Can I join please? At 5'4 and 11st 6, I have about 2 stone to lose. I'm useless as diets, fasting and I hated weightwatchers etc. I am currently much less active than usual due to an operation earlier in the year and am temporarily a sahm, so finding being at home a challenge in the sense that I cant seem to stop constantly eating crap.

I've signed up for fruit and veg boxes and am starting to meal plan again. I'm hoping to eat 4 small but lovely meals a day, and want to focus on the ingredients and recipes rather than counting calories and fat.

For breakfast this morning I had full fat rhubarb yogurt and a banana.
lunch: houmous and crudites
tea: fish pie
supper: fruit.

CheesyNachos · 02/11/2015 11:25

Hello!

Lovely meals here. For dinner I am planning chicken drumsticks that I have marinated in some maple syrup then coated with panko breadcrumbs. These will then be baked in the oven along with steamed potatos, sweet corn and wilted spinach.

OP posts:
JasperDamerel · 02/11/2015 13:44

I went grocery shopping today, and it felt like fun. My lunch has been lovely: scrambled eggs with smoked salmon on wilted spinach, a cup of salted caramel green tea and a fig with a couple of squares of dark chocolate.

Dinner will be less luxurious, but still very nice. Tuna cauliflower cheese, with a green salad.

I probably ought to weigh myself tomorrow morning to find out the full horrific extent of my fatness, as I was teetering on the edge of being obese at the start of the summer and then got ill, was unable to exercise, and ate non stop in a vague attempt to cheer myself up.
My MiL is coming to visit for a couple of days this week, and when she's gone I'll go for a second thyroid test to confirm that mine is really underactive and not just temporarily not working properly due to infections.

CheesyNachos · 03/11/2015 06:15

Hello!

Tuna cauli cheese sounds very good!

Today:

B- mini croissant, rhubarb compote, greek yoghurt

S- 1 boiled egg

L - two chicken legs with lots of salad (leftover from last night- it was really good!)

D- Burger Blush. DS is desperate to go to McDonalds right now so thought we may as well. I plan on eating a single burger, no fries. And eating it with enjoyment and NOT feeling guilty afterwards!!!

I have also been drinking alot of diet soft drinks so plan to make up a huge pitcher of water with sliced lemon and drink that instead.

How is everyone doing?

OP posts:
helenahandbag · 03/11/2015 09:08

I'm still on track, which is a first for me in many, many months Blush

B: Arla protein yoghurt, persimmon, green smoothie (half an avocado, cucumber, celery, spinach and a splash of strawberry and lime cordial)

L: Roll with pastrami, mustard and pickles, small bowl of lentil soup, 2x clementines

D: Heck chicken burger with salad

comeagainforbigfudge · 03/11/2015 09:21

I ate far too many sweets AGAIN yesterday. Plus a lemon cheesecake.

At least the sweets were mini ones. So although I ate many of them. In the grand scheme it probably wasn't that much.

Anyway. Onwards, today's a new day

B - wheatgerm toast and peanut putter X2 (hovis, those slices are tiny!!!!) Cup of tea.
L - ryvita, philly and smoked salmon. Greek yogurt and apple
D - some chicken concoction. Not decided yet but it's defrosted so need to use it. Might just do can chicken and handcut "chips" (aka as cooked in the oven chips)

Aiming for 2 litres water.

cheesy I've also been drinking too much fizzy diet drinks. Makes me feel all bloated Sad

helena what's heck chicken?!

HairsprayQueen · 03/11/2015 09:51

Ooh I saw those heck chicken things on Instagram last night, they look nice!

Just done Body Combat, good plan today is (already had) muesli for breakfast, the left over chicken filling from last night with a slice of bread and butter for lunch and prawn curry with cous cous for dinner. plenty of water too.

JasperDamerel · 03/11/2015 09:51

Breakfast: rye bread with cream cheese, smoked salmon and cucumber.

Lunch will be vegetable soup. I might add some borlitti beans. Actually, I will add beans, and a tin of tomatoes, and stir some pesto in when I serve it.

Dinner will be NomNomPaleo's slow-cooker chicken with broccoli, carrots, maybe some cabbage and rice to soak up the gravy.

HairsprayQueen · 03/11/2015 09:54

Good plan should say food plan but I hope it's good too!

JasperDamerel · 03/11/2015 09:55

Borlotti beans, obviously.

Here is the chicken recipe. It looks underwhelming, but tastes unbelievably good, and the leftover chicken in always really tender.

HairsprayQueen · 03/11/2015 09:59

That chicken looks amazing!
