Minimins closing down!!

I'm so sad to hear this news this morning!! I have loved that site for so many years and dipped in and out on my many weight loss/struggles/ventures!

Wow I didn't realise this! I've been on Minimins for years and it's a great place. I've been using it to post a food diary over the past few months as I've been calorie counting. I just thought no one I follow had updated today!

I agree there are a lot of vulnerable people posting on there who need the support and it's a right shitter for them to just close with no warning.

Noone was told it was closing. I've been a member AND moderator and didn't get so much as a heads up.

I think closing it with immediate effect was totally unfair

I couldn't believe it when I logged in and read that. I can understand her reasoning for closing it, but without notice? How utterly spiteful to not let people say goodbyes and make their personal connections.

Probably because she couldn't stand to see herself getting a justified pasting.. She's gone very quiet now. She should be ashamed of herself really.

I almost feel guilty at being negative I've spent all my time on there defending things even if I didn't agree

I think closing it down immediately was totally wrong and I think not even giving a heads up to the Moderators was plain rude. I get more angry the more I think about it

I nearly emailed her with my thoughts but then decided not to. I didn't use the site for support so it's really not for me to complain.

I just feel terrible for the posters who will now be complete bewildered and have no idea how to find the new forum - because she has made that the case by removing that thread

Yes there's a new site up and running so come over . It's foodfighters.boards.net and it's a really similar set up. I'm a mod over on the VLCD section so come and say hello

Oh no! While not a prolific poster there I often read threads. There was a man called Pete who posted loads of his own SW recipes that were very popular.

Yes foodfighters.boards is a brand new reboot! Absolutely gutted to find MM closed down, but some digging around led me to find the ketosis thread and from there to foodfighters. Feel sad and angry that so many who need the support will not find it. Missing the threads from Angel72 and LouLou and Clin and Beelishy and hope they all find their way there.
Latest speculation is whether minimins plan to open as a paying site. The archive still seems available, at least for the moment! [woodmouse]

Even if it was to reopen as a paying site now, they can stick it. The way they rated their members was terrible.

The new site is looking good though so far! I'm sure given time it'll be very similar to Minimins - people are joining all the time

The more I think about it the more pissed off I am at how they did things. They've treated us all absolutely appallingly

Oh no! I have just seen the goodbye message, can't believe it - that site helps me sooooo much. Thanks to good old mumsnet though for finding an alternative - off to check it out :-)
