Shiny new thread.
Well done emotional
Was weigh in day today and I can't bloody believe it.....I've put on one lb. I've been sooooooooooo good as well. Could be that I'm due on, but very disheartening, and I've got my brother and sil coming to stay tonight so am cooking a big roast chicken with all the trimmings

I know I'm well known for my wavering but am getting fed up (not literally unfortunately) with Atkins. Debating whether to go with the GL diet instead (again)
Doh, what to do, what to do.........

sally, you're reminding me of my student nurse days ,actually I'm surprised I lived through my training!

Weight wise it's going a bit slow fro my liking but basically I need a bloody good clearout...tmi sorry!

I'm still drinking gin and slimline but am managing to stay away from the wine eventhough dh has some every night. He's a skinny bastard though.
hope your hangover subsides soon, how about a big fry up?

Hello all. I've had a bit of a nasty night courtesy of a bit of peppered mackerel I ate for lunch yesterday that had probably been in the fridge too long. Yuk. Can't be doing with low carb today as a result - there's nothing useful to eat when you've been ill that I can think of. So it's toast and soup today. Back on wagon when I feel better!

emotionalwreck · 04/11/2006 23:15

Bloody hell! I didn't realise thal all nurses (students incuded) are carboholics!

Anyway, just two words for you - CHOCOLATE FOUNTAIN

Unfortunately was 20 years ago so can't really blame that.

Hello.

I'm back with you tomorrow morning and ...wait for it...really looking forward to it!! I've overdone the crap and I'm feeling fat, bloated and foul. Can't wait to get cleaned up. I just wish that I could do things in moderation - the odd plate of pasta, some lovely bread once in a while. But I can't - it always ends in a binge!! However I have promised myself a week off over Christmas - I just love mincemeat, christmas cake and pudding and there is no way you can make those low-carb. So 7 weeks or so of being good...

So see you tomorrow

Crotchety · 05/11/2006 19:06

Thanks for the sympathy. Feeling a bit more human today, but that's mackerel off the list now... So has anyone cracked the issue of what to eat when feeling feek and weeble, or do we just cave in and eat toast?

Click here to find out if the chocolate fountain had the undesired effect!

crotchety - I know how difficult it is when you are feeling crook but I found some really hot mone-made soup is the best! I know that home-made is a pita but commercial soups are usually really high in carbs - even those which shouldn't be! Try ham and tomato with some tabasco sauce, or chicken and leek. They are really comforting and filling. You can also put some lentils in - they aren't as high in carbs as you might think and much better than other 'thickeners' that you might us like potato.

BTW are you taking supplements? Atkins recommends them. I always take H&B mega rocket powered multi-vit and minerals horse pills - not actually their real name obviously but they are the best own-brand multi-vits. hasn't stopped me getting the odd sniffle but I don't tend to get full-blown anything these days.
