Shiny new thread.
Well done emotional
Was weigh in day today and I can't bloody believe it.....I've put on one lb. I've been sooooooooooo good as well. Could be that I'm due on, but very disheartening, and I've got my brother and sil coming to stay tonight so am cooking a big roast chicken with all the trimmings

I know I'm well known for my wavering but am getting fed up (not literally unfortunately) with Atkins. Debating whether to go with the GL diet instead (again)
Doh, what to do, what to do.........

Morning all > I got ambushed last night by a bottle of wine
Oxo, in my Atkins book white wine is 0.9 per 115mls, not that I ever want to see a bottle of wine ever again

Still sticking to induction here (apart from the wine) and I cheated and weighed myself this morning, and whoooooooppppppeeeeeeeeeeee 12st 5lbs (probably due to dehydration re; the wine but what the hell) It's the lowest I've been post dd

All motivated again.

Off to make bacon and eggs now
x

Oh, how rude Welcome skallywag >

Sorry frog . I just went from the carb chart posted on the week one link and am sure it said 0.3. Considering my wine consumption this week, I can hardly say I am following a low carb diet then!! At least no bread, spuds, pasta or rice so it must be an improvement

welcome Scally!

Crotchety · 01/11/2006 11:53

Hello everyone! Well done Frog! It's not fair - I've been pretty much on the wagon for ages and I'm STILL ON THE BLOODY PLATEAU. No weight loss for weeks. Nothing. Zip. De nada. I know I keep saying it's not just about weight, and I def feel a bit thinner but it's still demotivating. Huh. Perhaps I'll pig out at lunchtime in the canteen.

joelallie · 01/11/2006 12:35

well done frogperson! So does that mean you won't be deserting us?

brimfull · 01/11/2006 13:22

since starting back on low carbs after my holiday I'm still not in ketosis.I thought it was supposed to take 2 days ,this is day 4 and am still not
I'm eating the same as before so don't understand .Do you think I'm being impatient?

Frogdelalune · 01/11/2006 14:04

Don't apologise oxo. I've yet to find 2 carb counters that give the same count. That's why it's best to stick to just one (even the Atkins website and books differ ) - I use the Dr Atkins New Diet Revolution book.
In answer to your earlier question, mozzarella is okay to eat on induction.

Crotchety, I went through exactly the same as you. Looking back at my log I was stuck on a plateau for 7 weeks in Feb/March this year and it was sooooooooooooo frustrating.

Joelallie, thankyou, and yup, you'll still be having the pleasure of my company. Won't be going over to GL just yet

Frogdelalune · 01/11/2006 14:19

Ggirl, it can take longer than 2 days, are you using ketostix ?

Crotchety, been looking at my book and if stuck on a plateau it suggests cutting out all caffeine, cheese, nuts and condiments to get going again. Also suggests "cutting your carb intake by 5 grams a day; then if neccessary by 10 grams. If weight loss is still stalled, go back to induction for 3 - 5 days."
What have you set your carb intake at per day ? I'm sticking to induction so mine is

OP posts:
Crotchety · 01/11/2006 14:32

Thanks Froggers. Gawd. Well I'm kind of still on induction so don't hugely want to cut any more although I have to admit to not actually adding it up very scientifically. Nuts - fine - out of window. Caffeine - not too much of a problem. Cheese - aaargh!!! Bit of a staple. And no mayo??? Strewth. Could try it for a couple of days I suppose. What got you off your plateau or did it just go away itself?

oxocube · 01/11/2006 16:42

damn, 2 onion rings, 2 potato wedges and an early glass of wine . Now I don't even need to ask if any of these are on the induction list!!

brimfull · 01/11/2006 17:27

frog-yes ketostix still saying I'm not in ketosis, but it was verging on a trace tonight

skallywag · 01/11/2006 19:20

crotchety - do you eat much cheese? I was on a plateau a while back and cut the cheese (didn't eat an enormous amount and that def. helped. Went back to steady weight loss. hth

emotionalwreck · 01/11/2006 20:53

Hello all.

Been doing GL since Monday and so far I'm doing ok. No serious cravings (or no more than usual) but we'll see what the scales say. But the only thing thats differing really from when I was doing induction, is a small bowl of porrige for breakfast and I'm eating less cheese.

Well done froggy!

On a personal note I want to ask a favour of you all. I sell fragrances on e-bay as an income generator, and would like to know what your fave fragrances are. Don't worry - I'm not plugging my business, just want some ideas of what to stock for the xmas season!

Crotchety · 01/11/2006 21:09

Hello skallywag. Well I don't eat tons of cheese, but it is a really useful thing when you're low carbing. But - sniff- I'll try going without for a bit to see if that helps!

Emotional - my perfume (which I last got from eBay - wonder if it was you...) is Issey Miyake L'eau d'Issey. Not a single carb in it at all.

Frogdelalune · 01/11/2006 21:15

Why thank you emotional What day are you weighing on ?

Hmmm, perfume eh? Don't really do it. Don't live that type of lifestyle. I get a small bottle of CKone off dh each Christmas and it lasts me all year. I occasionally use my own mix of 2 Body Shop oils, but the ones I'm using were bought over 7 years ago

Weigh day is Monday for me froggy! My favourite fragrance is the smell of virtually anything cooking!

Morning.

Crotchety, have you tried a bit more exercise? or having smaller more frequent 'meals'? Have looked back and can't see anything in particular that got me moving again, but it's a pain isn't it? Are you drinking enough water? and not eating too much protein? Do you teast with ketostix? you are still in ketosis?
Sorry, it's a bit like the inquisition isn't it

OP posts:
emotionalwreck · 02/11/2006 09:11

ggirl - I get mine from a wholesaler so they're cheaper than in the shops but with xmas coming the wholesaler hasn't got a reliable amount of stock, so every time I put an order in he's ringing me to say "sorry, we've run out of that!"

Its peeing me off! Will have a look at prices for your faves. I know I can't get a good price on D&G Light Blue at the mo though :-(

Crotchety · 02/11/2006 11:17

I haven't tried ketostix - too embarrassed to ask in Boots...Or do they have them on the shelves somewhere? OK - will make a big effort on the water front again - the exercise....harrumph....OK - will try to do some power walking a bit more often rather than only on the way to work and back.

skallywag · 02/11/2006 12:19

well I think they're standard fare for diabetcs, so I don't think it's embarrassing, or necessarily labels you as a diet freak or anything. Anyway, I can confirm, if you've worked in a chemist for more than a fortnight, you've heard it all, so I wouldn't worry about it, crotchety

crotchety ,I got my ketostix from ebay. You can get them from other online sellers.

emotional ,I'm a bit of a perfume whore, always changing ,after the elusive one that I will stay loyal to forever.

Good news,I'm finally in ketosis today ...on day 5 so my appetite has diminished thank god.Lets hope those pounds roll off now

Went shopping today for a dress for two black tie xmas dos.I was pleased to beable to get into size 16's in some shops, but no I'm really still an 18.What I really need is a boob reduction, all the dresses are cut for normal size boobs, not my normus norks.Off to find something online now, wish me luck.So jealous of dh ,just slinging his dinner jacket on every year.
