I live on ready meals, drink at least a bottle of plonk a day and I'm lazy, there it's out there!

Now to turn it all around Confused.

OP posts:
itsbetterthanabox · 08/03/2015 17:45

Now you are thin why do you constantly talk about weight though and choose to post on threads about weight? Out of interest.
No need to be rude. You don't know anything about my weight or health you are making an assumption and you are not my doctor.

itsbetterthanabox · 08/03/2015 17:47

You must have had kids very young too. My slim grandmother didn't 'go down the slide' with me when I was little because she was in her 70's!

Her loss
my friends in their 70'd do
I want to emulate them

itsbetterthanabox · 08/03/2015 17:59

Not really sure how she lost out. We did lots of other things. She wasn't a teenager she was my grandmother. She didn't lose out..
Also she was slim! The oh so wonderful slim. So why didn't she want to act like a teen hmm?
Slim does not mean healthy and fat does not mean unhealthy. Everyone is different and you can't presume.

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 08/03/2015 18:14

Because I pile on weight when pregnant and this time it is proving really hard to shift.Sad

WhatsGoingOnEh · 08/03/2015 18:18

Oh FFS! Stop your stupid pointless bickering!

chocolatespiders · 08/03/2015 18:24

I am fat because I am obsessed with food and think about it all day.

Itsbetter - Talkin is an absolute inspiration on these threads. She comes from a position of someone who has been big, has lost weight, and has kept it off. I have found that really helpful.
Your snarky comments, not so much.

BeyondTheSea · 08/03/2015 21:21

The 'if you live long enough to meet them' comment was unkind and unnecessary.

I am fat because, I love food, I am an emotional eater and I get bored of dieting.

Runningupthathill82 · 08/03/2015 21:32

A little unkind, maybe, unnecessary, no. On another thread in this section today, someone who is very overweight was advised just to buy bigger jeans. No wonder people are struggling with their weight and finding it hard to keep it in perspective.

pourmeanotherglass · 08/03/2015 21:33

i drink too much

pourmeanotherglass · 08/03/2015 21:33

i guess the name's a bit of a clue

itsbetterthanabox · 08/03/2015 21:39

Runningupthathill it was completely unnecessary. She doesn't know my level of health.
Being slim does not mean being healthy. There's a real disconnect people don't get because they focus on appearance.

pourmeanotherglass · 08/03/2015 21:39

To be fair, I've lost some weight on 5:2, but now my weight loss seems to have slowed down / possibly gone backwards a bit. I think its because, although I'm still doing really well with sticking to 500 cals on the 2 days, I'm not doing so well with sticking to 1800 on the 5 days. If DH opens a bottle of wine, I can't stop at one glass, we finish the bottle between us.

TalkinPeace · 08/03/2015 21:46

The data is now unequivocal.
There is no such as healthy and fat
Being overweight is clearly linked to lots and lots of life limiting diseases and conditions.
I never talk about people getting slim because skeletons differ - people should aim for lean.

BUT
The OP posted a rhetorical question.
She knows what answer she needs to internalise, as do the others on this thread.
Nobody else can flick the switch for her.

pourmeanother
I've had to go dry 4 days a week as otherwise I hit the calories and get the munchies. You are not alone Smile

WhatsGoingOnEh · 08/03/2015 21:51

itsbetterthanbox Your posts make it sound like you've got a huge chip on your shoulder about weight matters. Did it fall out on the way home from the fish shop?

itsbetterthanabox · 08/03/2015 21:56

Whatsgoingoneh. That is truly hilarious. Has anyone ever told you how quick witted you are? You really burned me. What a fool I was for having a differing opinion to someone else!

itsbetterthanabox · 08/03/2015 21:59

Talkininpeace always posts on these threads with the same sound bites and body shaming comments. So if anyone has a chip...
I just think it's sad that everyone seems to hate themselves so much. There are thousands of threads of women talking about hating their bodies and you know what? Self hatred doesn't make you healthy or slim.

Mintyy · 08/03/2015 22:00

Talky, I have to disagree. There is such a thing as healthy and fat. Both of my grandmothers were 2-3 stone overweight. One lived to 90 and died of a stroke. The other lived to 95 and died of old age. Both were independent and mobile and had no signs of dementia.

How old do we want to get? I reckon mid 80s is a good target. My dmum is at least 20lb overweight and is looking forward to her 84th in June. She has COPD from her many years of smoking, which is a far greater compromise to her health than her few pounds of fat.

Fnouff · 08/03/2015 22:05

I really like cheese :)

SlaggyIsland · 08/03/2015 22:06

Actually slightly overweight women live longer:

rosieposey · 08/03/2015 22:11

Wow this started off as being quite therapeutic - then the usual suspects descend to start with the body shaming Hmm Biscuit ... or three

PopcornFrenzy · 08/03/2015 22:24

I'm fat because during my last pregnancy I ate chocolate for breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks and elevenses and supper and a bit in my sleep too I reckon! 4 bloody stone I put on!
