Morning!

twinkle unfortunately, we?ve tried that and it just doesn?t seem to work. I don?t find it that difficult to not have a drink, but DH does. It gets me down a bit actually. We?ll get there, he knows it?s a sticking point for me and he did cut down massively but over the last few weeks it?s crept back up again and he?s drinking too much (as am I). Congrats on the running!

wellies glad you?re feeling better today.

Em I struggle to watch other people drink and I think that?s because my mother used to become pretty horrid when she?d had a drink. Seeing other people drink makes me anxious and fearful of their reaction. I admit I don?t always find myself having as much fun as I would if I was drinking too but I think that?s because I find drunk people annoying. I think I need to seriously speak to DH as I don?t want his current drinking to turn into a problem, if that makes sense? I don?t want him to ?need? alcohol. I?m hoping that if we do have a child at some point that will be enough to make him cut down. He?s quite a sensible bloke really. I?m sure half the time he drinks more because I nag him Wink

Yesterdays menu is a good enough reason to give myself a kick up the bum and cut down on the booze. Here we go:

B ? a milk lolly
L ? Chicken and sweetcorn pasta
D ? Chinese ? chicken chow mein, Szechuan beef, special fried rice, prawn crackers, sweet and sour sauce
S ? S&V squares, mini cheddars, 2 lots of milky way crispy rolls, 2 glasses of wine, coke.

I did impress myself a little bit?watching Glasto (pretending I want to be there when really it looks like hell on earth) and I usually have at least a bottle of wine. I?d had a glass in the pub with a friend and finished off the last glass in the bottle of prosecco. That was it. I had another bottle of wine in the fridge and didn?t open it. I had a diet coke instead. Infact, I was impressed with DH ? he bought the coke to have with a rum but didn?t bother. He didn?t drink a lot last night to be honest ? 2 beers in the pub, 2 cans at home and a small glass of wine.

Monday is the 1st of July. New day, new week, new month. New me. Smile

Hazelbrowneyes · 29/06/2013 15:38

Oh that was surprisingly easy. I asked if he'd cut down next week so I wasn't tempted and he said he was planning to anyway. Excellent.

SixPackWellies · 29/06/2013 16:15

Hey Hazel, I was planning to do a Dry July, because I have a function to go on the third August and really need to have lost half a stone or more by then and the quickest way for me is to cut out booze, because I will have a glass or two and then eat everything in sight.

Want to do a Dry July with me? I have a RL friend who is doing it as well. (Same function and she has her eye on a guy there who is truly luscious). I could do with some ideas of no-cal drinks though.... I love appletisers, but they just replace sugar and alcohol with sugar!

OP posts:
twinklestar2 · 29/06/2013 21:28

Hazel - was just about today your OH sounds like mine was last year but then saw he is planning to cut back next week. Brilliant! The doctor told me husband to give up alcohol for 3 months to see if it helped with trying to conceive... Worth thinking about.

twinklestar2 · 29/06/2013 21:28

PS not trying to be smug, just trying to help because I've been there. :)

Emilythornesbff · 30/06/2013 10:30

Hey FRs.
NFD yesterday and after a cooked brekkie I grazed recklessly and then had risotto for dinner.
I know it was a NFD but I agree with baking and others that it's frustrating and disappointing to eat mindlessly.
Hey ho. We'll see the full damage (holiday and all) at WI on Monday.
Today: yogurt, melon, toast, coffee
3 dates Confused
Expecting roast dinner later. Might try to avoid food until dinner time Hmm

Staying in to attempt potty training. And yesterday discovered new satnav had been stolen from car Angry so some boredom and comfort eating going on methinks.
Well done on the drinking / not drinking sixpack and hazel
And hazel be assured that "nagging" is never the cause of anyone else's drinking.

One good thing?
Think I have a reasonable gift for diplomacy.although tbf I don't always use it.

Hazelbrowneyes · 30/06/2013 12:51

Wellies, excellent idea to do dry July! I will do my best to join you but I have to admit now I might struggle at the weekends...it's DHs birthday & we're off to the races too but I will drink as little as poss.

Twinkle, you don't sound smug at all Smile

Emily, how annoying about the sat nav. Good luck with potty training.

I've possibly painted DH in a bad light here. Realistically he doesn't drink to excess, I just have my own demons to face (once again I have to thank my mum for this!)

Yesterday dinner was courtesy of M&S.

Lunch: I had half a cheese & onion roll then meats, cheese, olives, Pringles once home.
Dinner: veg & pasta bake with salad, followed by profiteroles
Snacks: Milky Way crispy rolls, more Pringles, a bottle of wine (see? I'm just as bad!), ice lolly.

Spent the afternoon doing nothing but did discover new iPad mini is broken. So I've got the delightful job of taking that back tomorrow.

Today we've cleaned the house, I'm about to watch the GP and then we're off to my grandads as its his birthday. There will be cake Grin
B - 2 slices of toast
L/D - chilli & jacket spud
S - cake, nibbles, ice lolly & yep, wine.

Positive: I like to please others.

twinklestar2 · 30/06/2013 16:17

I understand Hazel. Last year I posted a thread in AIBU about OHs drinking and they were really harsh to him and me! I don't think your hub is an alkie, more just got in a bad habit!

I'm not really eating, just grazing which isn't like me but I just CBA at the moment.

Bakingnovice · 30/06/2013 21:21

Emily - poor you. Bastard thieves. Hope the potty training is going well. And I'm with you, hate grazing. Prefer proper meals.

I've been naughty. Popcorn and homemade burgers yesterday. And tea/toast for brekkie, skipped lunch and had two large pittas filled with cheese, salad and oven chips! And a snickers to follow. It's a nfd. And I didn't do any exercise all weekend. I've gained weight since running, only 1lb, but its affecting me psychologically. Back to running tmrw. Had a difficult and emotional weekend so am looking forward to a new week. Wellies - I think it was my turn on the snot today.

Lego - how's things?
Twinkle - your posts are so cool and calm. Can you send some sanity my way.
Hazel - happy bday to your grandad.

SixPackWellies · 01/07/2013 06:22

Morning all.

Hugs Baking hope you are feeling better today after your bad weekenbd. Thanks

I seem ti have grazed all weekend too, twinkle. But when I add it all up, I hate to think!

Bastard thieves Em Angry

Will be great to have you join as much as you wish for my dry July, Hazel! I tend to be all or nothing, so I need to be firm for the entire July, otherwise I will slip back into sharing a bottle every day. twinkle I agree drinking can be a habit. we open a bottle with dinner, then finish it off after the kids are in bed and then more often than not have a scotch. I am planning to develop a serious herbal tea habit instead.

Me today- I aim just to keep a lid on eating, to eat well, to make another pot of veg soup and of course - dry july!

OP posts:
twinklestar2 · 01/07/2013 08:20

Grazing seems to work for me - I'm another pound down this morning :)

Menu:

Decaf latte and a croissant
Houmous and salad pittas
Lamb, rice and salad
Fruit and yogurt

Hazelbrowneyes · 01/07/2013 11:12

Morning all.

New start for me today and I?m feeling positive. Slightly hungover (doh) but I feel good.

Yesterday:
B - 2 slices of toast
L/D - chilli
S - cake, nibbles, ice lolly & wine.

DH being wonderful (NO ONE TELL HIM THAT Wink) and so supportive in my latest quest to be healthy. Neither of us drove to my mums yesterday so I assumed we?d have a drink with the Grand Prix?nope. He had coffee and I had coke. Of course, we both ended up reasonably tipsy but it was a good day.

We were meant to be seeing friends tonight and staying at theirs but DH has just cancelled, mainly because we?re so busy at work but also because he knows we?ll both drink too much and eat too much. We probably will go to the pub to see some other friends but I will stick to lime & soda. I really resent paying £6 for a glass of substandard wine so I find it easier to stick to soft drinks in that pub!

Today:
B ? soft boiled egg, ½ slice of toast
L ? I?ve been to sainsburys this morning so I have: sweet chilli noodles & greek salad from their salad bar
D ? I have no idea what DH got out the freezer this morning so it?s a surprise!
S ? Fruit, courtesy of sainsburys salad bar!

Baking I hope you feel better today
Emily Good luck with WI
twinkle Congrats on your loss
wellies Good luck with dry July, I?ll join you as much as poss!

O&D FRs! xx

SixPackWellies · 01/07/2013 12:09

You sound really positive Hazel that is great! i am feeling positive too today. I have hurt my leg again though (archilles) so no exercise for me sadly.

Lamb rice and salad is possibly my favourite meal twinkle and you have just reminded me that i have lamb chops in the freezer.....

today
B - 1/4 onion and potato tortilla
L- ham and salad sandwich and grapes
D- was meant to be gnocchi and pesto and salad... but am thinking now of lamb.

Ah baking it's a pain that exercise can give a temporary weight gain.
Is there something in the air? Feeling a bit emotional myself lately (may well be lack of sleep).

Hazel I'm sure your DH is lovely. feel free to speak openly here.

Well done Twinkle

Poor Wellies hope your ankle is better soon. Your menu looks good.

Fasting today. Hungry.
Did not weigh myself this morning (sorry). But whatever the weight was it would have included the toast, chocolate, turkish delight and nougat Blush I scoffed yesterday.

shit!

positives? I'll get back to you. Grin

SixPackWellies · 01/07/2013 19:58

Good evening!

Went with the gnocchi in the end, and will have lamb, tzatziki and pit tomorrow.

Mmmmmmmmmm....

have a great evening everyone!

Hello fellow revolutionaries.

I've not been on in a few days, felt a bit crap (various boring things), plus DD going through a difficult teething phase we think, massive row with DH over my use of MN & his complete failure to talk to me about what's bothering him (very longstanding problem), consequently I often feel quite lonely, hence the MN usage. Also a very loud party in the garden of a house across the road that lasted until 3am Sunday morning. So not the best weekend ever. Comfort ate a little bit, consequently no loss this week. Sad

My good thing - I have the least smelly feet in the universe, they are freaky! I have shoes that I have worn to holes & all they smell of is leather.

RubyGoat · 01/07/2013 23:34

Also, meant to say - good luck with the dry July! Alcohol is basically just sugar with a helping of impaired judgement. (sorry if that sounds judgey it's not meant to). I'm not a big drinker so I know my viewpoint is a bit skewed on this. My dad was a functioning alcoholic (still is as he still drinks, although less than he used to) & it caused major health problem a few years ago & he nearly died. So I'm fairly anti alcohol although I know that's possibly a bit of an over reaction on my part.

Any way - good luck with the dry July!

SixPackWellies · 02/07/2013 07:24

Good morning everyone!

lego hope things get better soon. So sorry to hear about your argument with your DH and hope that DD is better soon. Thanks

I am okay this morning, though DH is in a mega grump. dry July started well. :) I find drinking wine is a habit i have slipped into - and although i like the taste of some wines, especially cava, generally I am not that fond of many, but it seems 'what you do'. Have a meal, have a glass of wine. So I drank lemon barley water and that was delicious.

Today:

poached eggs
red pepper spicy soup, and a ham and salad sandwich
grilled lamb, salad, taztsiki and pita breads.... have been coveting since yesterday!

Right- must dash..... I hear the dulcet sounds of waking babies overhead.

Morning.

sixpack my taste buds have been hollering since reading about "lamb and tzaziki" yesterday. Along with twinkle's falafel wraps I'm feeling a middle eastern lunch coming on.

lego sorry. DHs can be so annoying. Stupidly, I find that I can be on cloud 9 or completely miserable depending on how well I'm getting on with DH. Bit Blush to admit that really. I think it's because the supportis so important.

So I had a "fluid fast" yesterday. With my only calories being some milk in afew teas and coffees and 2 low cal, very dilute hot chocs.
I am amazed at how easy it is now compared to when I started.
WI = (I know, cheating to have it after a fast butmyholidayeating was scaring me) 8st 8lb. Which is 1 st 9 lb lost altogether. Might be false, I know. But I was pleased as I had expected a gain.
I love 5:2.

Today
Bf: 2 v small pieces of toast and jam, coffee

L: falafel wrap & salad. (can't bear the Envy anymore), fruit

D: lamb curry (with leftover roast lamb).

Must do some exercise. Really must. But I am soooooo tired and frantic.
O&D FRs.

Hazelbrowneyes · 02/07/2013 09:29

Morning FRs. Feeling a bit blue today. I went to bed with a headache, woke up at 3am to go to the loo, headache still there. I get to the end of the bed, the room starts spinning and suddenly I?m on the floor. I have absolutely no idea what happened. Woke up this morning & my headache is still just as bad, if not worse than last night. My neck is really stiff too. I?ve taken a painkiller as I had to go to work as I?ve got a lot to do, but DH has said he?ll take me home at lunchtime if I?m still in pain. I just want to go to bed, I?m exhausted.

I ruined all good intentions yesterday. We ended up having to drive a few hundred miles yesterday and of course, no road trip is complete without snacks.

B ? soft boiled egg, ½ slice of toast
L ? sweet chilli noodles, greek salad and chickpea dahl
D ? chicken curry with poppadums
S ? malteser teaser, skittles, fruit pastilles, milk lolly

Went to the pub and stuck to lime & soda so an alcohol free night which I am pleased with and whilst I didn?t get time to do any exercise, I did do some weights and abs work.

Today:
B ? same as yesterday
L ? mugshot
D ? breaded lemon sole with veg
S ? fruit from yesterday

I?d hoped to be a bit closer to goal by now so I need to step up my game a bit. I?ve just felt so tired recently. The cold that I thought was coming didn?t really amount to anything yet I?m still so achey and I?ve still got these bloody tingles &/or numbness in my hands and feet.

Emily well done you! You?re an inspiration. Don?t be embarrassed to admit that, I know my mood can definitely depend on how I?m getting on with DH.

wellies I hope your leg gets better soon.

Lego big hugs. Sorry you had a bit of a rubbish weekend. I don?t think your anti-alcohol stance is an over-reaction to be honest, not after you?ve been through alcoholism with your Dad xx

Hazelbrowneyes · 02/07/2013 09:30

Have just read my post...anyone got a teeny-weeny violin? Blush

Will be back to cheery self once this headache disappears, promise!

SixPackWellies · 02/07/2013 09:48

Hazel don't apologise. That sounds very frightening. I think you may need to book yourself a GP appointment- especially if you have tingles and so on. It would not hurt, and to just rule out anything obvious. May be just stress but perhaps your BP needs to be looked at.

take care.

OP posts:
Hazelbrowneyes · 02/07/2013 10:17

Wellies You're right. I've just booked an appointment for the 19th. I've purposefully left it for that long in case they go away and I can cancel. I hate wasting the Doctors time. I've booked in with a new GP as well, if I wanted an appointment with my Doctor, I'd have had to wait until the 7th August (he's very hot popular). Actually, I could have probably got one sooner had I bothered to phone through but it's so much easier just being able to book it online.

SixPackWellies · 02/07/2013 10:47

Hazel if you are still bad for the rest of the day, please see if you can get an earlier appointment, or something for tomorrow. It does not sound 'right'.

If you get worse, doctors asap. The 19th is weeks away.
