Hope today's going well Johnny, I'm not sure about the butternut squash, I've never tried it myself, but I'm sure the sweet potatoes will be lovely in a curry.

I'm struggling this afternoon, I've had a packet of French Fries and a kit-kat since lunch so decided I'd better dispense with tonights slimfast shake and just have the banana for my dinner Sad

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 13/03/2014 17:44

I know it has some quite weird ingredients but as I'm not cooking for dh tonight it seemed like a good excuse to use up some leftover vegetables rather than throw them away. I'm hoping that it'll be so hot I won't notice the vegetables. I also have some creme fraiche and Greek yogurt to use up.

Poor you. I have early nights on the evenings when I'm hungry.

Today I bought a tub of options hot chocolate so that on the days I crave chocolate I can at least have a low cal source. I really hate eating crap like that with aspartame (although still have about three diet cokes a week) but I'm hoping it'll stop the cravings.

cookieowner · 14/03/2014 09:42

I've managed to have a good week and am happy to report that I've lost a pound so finally got down past my pre Christmas weight! I have 18 weeks in which to lose 24 pounds which sounds do able but based on the last few weeks I'm not so sure ill make it as even losing a pound a week seems a struggle.
I am eating 1200 calories a day(I am short and sedentary so this isn't as low as it sounds) and do 30 minutes on the Wii but am limited to what exercise I can do so not really sure what else I can do to boost my weight loss really
Open to any suggestions!
Either way I am now 10 St 6 so hopefully on my way to the 9 stones sometime soon!

Zalen · 14/03/2014 11:50

Thanks Johnny, hope the curry was good. I managed to stick close to my calorie allowance in the end, just went over by 7 calories on what I logged although I did also have a slice of cheese and a couple of ham slices as well before class. 12st 5 today so moving in the right direction again at last. I've been hitting the diet cokes pretty hard myself for the last few weeks so that's something else I've been working on avoiding.

Glad you're having a good week cookie and congratulations on getting back below your pre-Christmas weight. Good luck in losing those 24lb, you might consider throwing in a fast day every now and then although if you're sticking to 1200 calories then your deficit should be pretty good already. I try a fast day now and then on a Sunday when I know I've overdone it on Friday and Saturday.

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 16/03/2014 10:00

Well done cookie. You should be able to lose that weight - but even if you 'only' lost a stone you would still look noticeably different. What do you do on the wii? We have wii fit and I found it very good, should really start again. You could try the shred although it is quite hard on your knees. I found I couldn't complete it but I was really unfit and most people seem to manage.

I have almost had 3 very good days but... I found a big bag of minstrels in the back of the cupboard. I possibly bought them when I was bribing dds but can't even remember when. Naturally I've eaten them all so have had 3 days of veg curries, salad and soups and a pile of chocolate.

wishesandchaos · 16/03/2014 22:07

Aww you guys sound like your doing well! All ready for weigh in tomorrow? I've been doing my best so fingers crossed it shows else I'll be so disappointed. Loving the sunny weather, makes it nicer to go out for a nice walk instead of being stuck at home :)

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 17/03/2014 07:56

Thanks wishes I weighed myself and was down .9lbs bringing me to 9st 5.6lbs. I am very pleased because it wasn't the best of weeks.

So I've got 5 weeks to lost 6lbs. Should be doable although we might take the girls on holiday over the Easter holiday so that would make it hard.

How is everyone else doing?

Zalen · 17/03/2014 09:08

Good morning everyone, 12st 3.8 here this morning, 3lb down this week so very happy with that.

I've had a very productive weekend, 10 hrs of overtime booked due to the out of hours work that I do, the complete series of Invasion watched, the third page of my cross-stitch project completed and started on page 4.

Well done Johnny on your loss and good luck to everyone still to weigh in today.

wishesandchaos · 17/03/2014 09:48

Well done Johnny, 9lb loss is amazing!

Well done on your 3lb too Zalen.

I only managed 2lb loss this week but hoping for more this week and using it as a reminder to do better. But tbh I am going to be happy with any loss at all as it all adds up.

Any tips on not snacking? Mondays at home are my worst days but determined not to fall of the diet today :)

Zalen · 17/03/2014 09:52

Hi wishes, 2lb loss is great, well done.

The only tip I can give on not snacking is to get yourself tied up in something to take your mind off it. We have a squashy, reclining armchair in our front room that can be a pain to get out of, I tend to settle down in that, pull my cross-stitch frame up in front of me and work on that. So that I'm basically boxed in and engrossed in what I'm doing, and it becomes far too much effort to go get something to snack on Grin.

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 17/03/2014 10:01

Sorry I should've said 0.9lbs! Less than a pound. Grin But I am still really pleased with it!

Zalen, wishes, that's amazing. I never lose that much in a week - well only if I put a lot on the previous week - so they are very good losses.

I haven't been good at not snacking recently but I just drink water or herbal tea as often we think we're hungry when really we're thirsty. Then like Zalen I distract myself. It's usually with housework or something really boring but recently I've been going to the gym when dh gets home from work and I've been organising photos of the girls. I keep saying I need a hobby. Tonight I might paint my nails and have a long bath on with a face pack too as that makes it harder to pick at things.

wishesandchaos · 17/03/2014 11:23

All loss is good loss Grin

Thanks girls. I have managed two slices of cheese of toast so far today and am determined that will be it now until I'm genuinely hungry again. Chicken salad for dinner so should be a good day if i lay off the snacks.

Just feeling really bad today that I've let myself get this fat at all Confused

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 17/03/2014 11:31

I understand, I used to feel sad that I had let myself go but you need to focus on being positive. It's so easy to continue to overeat because you feel it's too big a mountain to climb. But in a few months time you'll have climbed half that mountain and you will look and feel so good.

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 17/03/2014 11:34

I forgot to say that my other distraction when I wanted to snack was sorting through my clothes. I spent many evenings last year trying on and throwing out clothes that were too small. And I spent many hours bidding for new clothes on ebay and looking in online sales and outlet stores for bargains. The best I ever felt was when I went down a clothes size.

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 17/03/2014 11:36

Gah. I meant clothes that were too big!

I'm replying on my crap phone so am even less articulate than usual.

wishesandchaos · 17/03/2014 11:44

Thanks Johnny, I do tend to think Omg how will I ever get there? But I have lost 6.5lb since I started this effort so that's keeping me going for now. On the upside I think is that I'm doing it for me this time, not for anyone else so I've only myself to answer to. I'm weighing everyday tbh though to keep myself focused as I find that helps.

Am off out to sort my car and distract myself from ds's mini cupcakes hahaha.

Zalen · 17/03/2014 11:54

Ah but Johnny, throwing out clothes that are too small works too, it just means you get to go out and buy new ones when you get back to that size Grin.

wishes, I weigh daily too, I know a lot of people say that it's a bad idea but I've read other reports that say it helps. I think it's a matter of personal preference. I personally like to know if I'm going off track so I can pull myself up immediately.

I've started losing weight a few times in recent years by going to the gym. I tended to get to 13.25 st and then get stuck and end up going back up. This time I'm down almost a stone from that sticking point and feeling really good about myself. Of course next week is grading week so the diet will be going out the window, I'll need to eat a decent amount if I'm going to have enough energy to pass and get my new belt Smile.

Zalen · 17/03/2014 11:55

and wishes, step away from the mini cupcakes Grin

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 18/03/2014 16:46

Wishes 6.5 lbs is good. It can be harder at the start but I promise in 2 or 3 weeks your clothes will start to feel looser.

Did you keep away from the mini cupcakes?

I have just been to school for parents evening and was surprised to hear dd2 described as laid back, delightful, fun, good at following instructions. It was like hearing about a different child, wish she could be like that at home!

wishesandchaos · 18/03/2014 22:14

I did indeed keep away from the mini cupcakes Grin. It's nice to know other people weigh daily too and I'm not the only one who finds it keeps me on track. Cake day at work tomorrow though so not sure how it's going to go Confused

Parents evening is always interesting, ds is 'very bright and perfectly capable, but wouldn't it be nice if he could pay attention for more than a minute?' lol!
Glad you had a good parents evening Smile

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 21/03/2014 17:21

Well done wishes, I wish I had your willpower. I ate a lot of cake and biscuit at a coffee morning yesterday.

Other than that I've been ok although I've made dds a big Yorkshire pudding for tea and it's going to be an effort not to eat the rest of it. Dd1 burst into tears when she saw it, apparently Yorkshire pudding should only be eaten with sausages ungrateful madam not pork chops and gravy.

Hope everyone else has had a good week and is looking forward to a good weekend.

wishesandchaos · 24/03/2014 08:42

Argh! Managed to be good during the week and then had a treat weekend out with family (unplanned treats) so on the basis I ended up at Eds Diner on Saturday and the cinema and KFC yesterday I'm going to have to catch up this week!

I lost 0.5lb this week Hmm and feeling a bit disappointed with myself.

Think I'll go out later and buy some low calorie squash or bottled water to encourage me to drink more.

Hope you ladies had a fab weekend!! Smile

artyanklet · 24/03/2014 08:49

I have not had a great weekend either! DD3 birthday - so we have had pizza and lots of chocolate cake (I don't normally eat chocolate cake but this weekend I sure did!)

I don't think I can get to my Drs weigh in this afternoon which is a shame as I have missed the last 2 weeks as I have been in London. I have weighed myself on my dodgy scales and its showing a 2lb increase (which I am not surprised about).

I have a pretty uneventful week this week so fingers crossed I get get back on the healthy eating - that really has been lacking in my life these last 2 weeks.

Hope everyone else has a good weight loss.

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 24/03/2014 11:31

Wishes, that's hald a stone, that's great! You've had your water loss and now every lb you lose is fat. Think of 1\2 lb lard.

Ooh got to go my child is running riot in the ball pool!

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 24/03/2014 14:01

I'm back. I had a really good week and had lost a lb by Saturday morning. I then ate a lot over the weekend and was 2lb up on Saturday this morning! So 1lb up on last week. Very annoying.

I am now doing a healthy internet food order to try to lose those 2lbs again!
