11st10 to be exact.

I'm 5'7. So that is fat.

Gonna do something about it.

I am the same height as you and recently managed to lose 12 lbs but very slowly about 1lb a week. This is what I did:
no alcohol, chocolate or cake type foods - none, you have to be really strict. Its the complex sugars and fats that make you want more and then you're doomed.
I ate about 4 light meals per day - fresh fruit, yogurt, low fat ham, only one meal that's very carb per day- so say a bagel with avocado and tomatoes for lunch, but no bread at dinner etc. Or bread with my soup at dinner but no bagel in the day, if that makes sense (bagels are my weakness).
And I made sure that 5 out of 7 days I was very active- walking mostly to school and back, but quickly when on my own and continuing to walk after drop off.
Hope this is vaguely helpful. ITs not drastic and not life changing but I felt really good about losing this much, but it did take time and I doubt I'll be able to lose any more now.

Steala · 28/03/2012 17:42

Sassy, can I join you? I'm about an inch shorter than you and was about the same weight last week so our losses should be similar. I've been yo-yoing for ages and ages and ages and I am bored. I really think I can't lose it in the winter though. I feel the hibernation instinct so much that I stockpile food.

Now that the evenings are lighter, I feel less of an urge to curl up and eat and I want to do something more interesting instead.

I plan to increase the exercise, curtail the snacking and be careful about portion size. I don't want to diet as such. I NEED to re-educate myself about appropriate amounts and things to eat. So that means more water and more veg at every meal, so that there is less room for the higher calorie items. I don't want to ban anything because I've tried that a few times and ended in disaster.

I've been doing this for a week and lost 2.5 pounds.

Would you like to motivate each other?

AuntFini · 28/03/2012 17:48

I'm also 5ft7 and was 13 stone 8(!), lost until I was 10st10 and then proceeded to put on about a stone, leaving me at 11st 12!

I was gutted.
A few weeks later I'm now at 11st5.
It would be nice to join you all and be able to lose again. I'm so gutted really because I worked so hard to lose all that weight and I can't believe how quickly it went on when I lifted my foot off the pedal, especially considering how much exercise I was doing. Anyway.

I'd like to join you. I lost 3lbs since last week so I'm aiming for 2 more off this week.

(Also 11st10 isn't fat, don't think that Smile )

sassytheFIRST · 28/03/2012 18:37

Hello! How nice to have company.

So I have eaten good stuff today.

Breakfast - scrambled eggs, apple at 11am
Lunch- big Greek salad with some salami
Just now- Greek yoghurt and loads of berries.

Feel nice and full so will try and leave it there. Shredded yesterday - got nearly to L3 just before Xmas but back at L1 last night: and I HURT today. Gonna do it again later.

For me, cutting down on carbs works. I'm naturally greedy with bread and cake, so if I avoid them all, I can stay more focused. And I have to drink lots of water cos I don't have enough normally.

sassytheFIRST · 28/03/2012 18:38

Auntfini - well done on your fabulous loss before. And also well fine for stopping now, before it all went back on.

Eclairwaldorf · 28/03/2012 18:42

Can I join please? Over the 12 stone mark unfortunately and only 5'6 Blush am heavier than when I went back to work after may leave Blush I just have a HUGE appetite, and the only things that gulls me up is carbs. Please help me!

marriedtoagoodun · 28/03/2012 18:49

I was 12 stone about 6 weeks ago. Felt a bit fat today and period due so jumped on the scales - I am now 14 stone 1 lb!! I feel FAT. I have a low thyroid but have had that for about three years so cannot really blame it on that. I have today just ordered the 30 day shred DVD and am determined to slim down a bit. Just not sure how it happened - sob! Like you Eclair I am always on the scrouge for food - so must try harder to limit what I eat. (I am 5' 8")

AuntFini · 28/03/2012 18:52

Thanks sassy I appreciate that.
I need to buy a copy of the shred. I used to have one but lost it and at the mo I'm doing a really naff exercise dvd which I barely break a sweat on!

I agree with you wrt to carbs. I need to mainly cut them out, just have them once a day. Also cheese is a huge downfall so I'm just not buying it.

I'm running every other day as well for 5 miles (although very slowly!)

Today I had a yoghurt and some raspberries for breakfast
Half a tub of low fat cottage cheese and some ham with blueberries, apple and tomatoes for lunch
Then had a veg stir fry for dinner.

anonymosity · 28/03/2012 19:10

Hello Sassy. The menu you listed sounds good -except for the salami as its very high in fat and salt and can make you crave more fatty foods. If you swap it with a low fat like ham or turkey you get the benefit of feeling fuller, but without the calories.

Steala · 28/03/2012 19:13

I'm trying to talk myself into shredding this evening. I'm starting on L1 again. I always stall at L2 because I can't do planks at all.

cybbo · 28/03/2012 19:16

I'm 5 9 and a little less than 11 10 but want to be around the 11 or preferably less.

Have a jumbo roll around my middle which is a new phenomenon for me, I'm usually pretty trim there and put my weight on around arse and thighs. Which are also bigger than I woudl like atm

SO I'm body pumping at the gym and aerobicising ,but its the after work snacks I need to knock on the head

Someone tell me I[m a fat cow, SHAME me into it

AuntFini · 28/03/2012 19:18

Cybbo you're NOT a fat cow but it will be the snacks. Exercise or no exercise, if I control my eating I can lose weight consistently at a rate of 1-2lbs a week. So to me it's more the food than the exercise for weightloss.

anonymosity · 28/03/2012 19:22

I agree it is more about food - and for me, coffees. They apparently go straight to the waist, or the jumbo roll as it were.

cybbo · 28/03/2012 19:27

J'agree Auntie Fini

I wrote down my snacks for Sunday and it was over 1000 cals. I'm not a calorie counter but that blew my socks off

RIGHT I'm going to lose 4 lbs over Easter

sassytheFIRST · 28/03/2012 19:40

Oi cyb

This is not Icod Abuse you fatty type thread.

Is gentler but no less effective.

I hope.

MumPotNoodle · 28/03/2012 19:46

any room for a tubby? Had an awful time this morming, had literally nowt to wear, squeezed into a very uncomfortable top. Went to work via charity shop to get something to wear for work and ended up with a size 18 top and a VERY VERY VERY unforgiving mirror.

I now see me how others must see me....I am 5ft 2, 11 9 and round Sad.

AuntFini · 28/03/2012 20:03

Don't worry mumpotnoodle, those pounds will soon be falling off you Smile Also remember we're lots harsher on ourselves than other people would be, so chin in as we're all soon to be slinky in time for summer!

cybbo · 28/03/2012 20:05

sassy- never said it was an abuse thread! I need a metaphorical slap round the chops, that's all

sassytheFIRST · 28/03/2012 20:08

I know cyb. I need one too tbh.

OP posts:
Steala · 28/03/2012 21:38

Thanks to this thread I've just shredded although I really really didn't want to. It was actually not as bad as I had imagined it would be.

AuntFini · 29/03/2012 14:27

I've just ordered the shred from amazon for #5, so hoping it arrives quickly.
Today I had a yoghurt with blueberries for breakfast. A salad with some cous cous for lunch and some fruit.
Going on a 5 mile run tonight.

The hard bit for me is remembering to drink lots of water, I never drink enough and end up with a headache at the end of the day...

Hope everyone else is having a great day. Gorgeous sunshine!

slotrightin · 29/03/2012 15:07

.... waddles in, am shorter than most here at 5' 3" but weigh 11st 11lb , can I join you all?

AuntFini · 29/03/2012 15:14

Hello slotrightin! You're very welcome Smile

slotrightin · 29/03/2012 16:27

Thanks Aunt:)
Anon, I drink black coffee by the bucket load, is that adding to my "jumbo roll"??

sassytheFIRST · 30/03/2012 10:37

Hooray! 3lbs off so 11st7 this morning.

I know it's mainly water, but it helps to see a good loss in first few days. Especially after the pain of the Shred - twas agony doing it again yesterday!

Hope others are feeling cheered and on track.
