Fit February

Titsandteeth · 30/01/2011 06:45

Hi all

I'm gonna do Fit February again this year. It basically means committing to a month (Feb so a short month) of health and sobriety in order to greet March by feeling and, of course, looking fabulous.

Can I persuade anyone to join me?

In my case it means . . .

No alcohol
No Tea
No Coffee
No Sugar
No Meat (am usually a meat eater)

Lots of Exercise
Lots of Sleep
Lots of Water
Lots of Fruit
Lots of Vegetables
Lots of Books, music, dancing, laughing, socialising, films, happiness and less telly.

I also want to shift some weight and would welcome my skin getting clearer and my eyes less baggy.

I currently weigh 60.5kg or 9st 7 1/4 lbs. Which for someone of my lack of height makes me pretty portly. I'm only 5' 2".

I want to be under 9 stone by March - preferably waayyyyyyy under 9 stone.

I also want to have more energy, be less grumpy with dh and the kiddies and generally have rediscovered my mojo.

OK Joby, have the shred, will dust it off and give it a go.

Had a good kind of early start first day today, ate what I was supposed to and went to pilates this morning. Little bit hungry but off to bed now to avoid snacking late at night.

Have a great day if you're in the western world and roll on tomorrow!

theasaswimming · 31/01/2011 16:46

izquierda have you tried www.swimfit.com?

It's a free online swimming programme for the pool. It will tell you what to do in your pool sessions to get an overall workout.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 31/01/2011 16:49

Yes, I have put on 3/4 of a stone which I would like to shift to get back to my wedding day weight of 9 stone 4, I have done it befofe. To your list lets add lost of sex!!!

PatTheHammer · 31/01/2011 19:59

Evening all, lots of good exercise today going on! Wel done to all Smile

Lots of you sound like you have hardly anything to lose, which is great!

I am aching like buggery from circuits yesterday so i guess they must have done something good.

My main thing in preparation today has been buying a decent sports bra (only £5 in the Factory Shop!) on the way home from work. I still need some new trainers for running but they may have to come next month.

Food wise I have had:
Muesli for brekfast -good
Forgot ceral bar so had ham and salad sandwich at break time, which was fine but meant that after I had my fruit at lunchtime I was still peckish and raided the work biscuit tin for a fruit clubBlush.
Virtous dinner of cous-cous salad and chorizo and then some blueberries for dessert

So all in all not too bad a day!

Tits- My DD had first bout of nits in October so I thoroughly sympathise! You don't have to wash all bedding and toys I found out on here as they can't really live away from human scalp for long. Inecto shampoo and Lyclear are two really good products we used, oh and a nitty-gritty comb for getting all the eggs out. She now has tea-tree oil conditioning spray as a deterrent

izquierda · 31/01/2011 21:10

Hi everyone
Thank you for the swimfit link I will try that!
I went to the gym and as ever once I'm through the door and have got started it's fine.
I enjoyed the treadmill and ran 5 lots of 2 mins, with walking in between.
I will try the DVD this week - can't just say when as I have the builders in and don't want them seeing me!
I ate sensibly today and am keeping busy this evening and thus away from the kitchen.
With me, a lot of it is psychological, to do with low self-esteem and boredom. I'm not out at "paid work" at the moment and spend too much time in the kitchen, around food.
My gripe with Slimming World was that it focused far too much on food itself and too little on the psychology of losing weight.
Hope you've all had a good day.

Titsandteeth · 01/02/2011 03:30

Hi all and welcome newbies

I'm doing ok today, not much exercise unfortunately as too hot and I have a 3 yr old in tow.

However, I have had no tea or coffee for 2 days, no booze also for 2 days, um . . . slipped up a bit on the no meat front after absentmindedly scoffing my daughters ham sandwich for lunch. Bum, feel a bit stupid about that one.

Am managing lots of fruit and eaten salads for last 2 nights.

I feel EXHAUSTED though, dunno why. But it's now 2pm and I could easily have a nap.

Izquierda I too mainly eat when I'm bored. I'm making a conscious effort not to do that at the moment but did find my hand in the nuts jar earlier.

Thanks Pat for the nit tips. We did a good family de-lousing yesterday but I found another one on dd1 this morning so will have another go tonight. God, it's so boring.

Amothersplace, my dh will be delighted with your suggestion. Grin

Hello can I join you please?
I need to lose about 4 stone in total. I have just started doing the 30 day shred too. I am very impressed with it so far. Have also got my fitness pal app on my phone so can keep track when I am at work

Lollypolly · 01/02/2011 10:56

T&T, you're doing well! If you're feeling tired, are you drinking enough water? Dehydration is one of the most common reasons for tiredness and if you have cut down on your food intake, you have also cut down on liquids as food always contains liquid - hope you perk up again soon!

All welcome jimblejambles! How long have you been shredding?

Had not a bad day but cooked a fab salmon and potato casserole type thing with dill and creme fraiche for the kids tea - had to have a forkful to taste it Grin

Off to a friend's house to "drink wine" tonight - should be interesting. Will try to stick to water / diet coke as I'm not off caffeine.

Have a great day Fit Febbers

jimblejambles · 01/02/2011 11:37

just about to do day 3 of 30 day shred (ds2 finds it amusing). I am feeling it in my legs and shoulders today. I am finding the push ups hard if anyone can offer any pointers

FoundWanting · 01/02/2011 14:05

I'd like to join too, please.

I weighed myself today and am 10 stone 5 lbs. 9 st 9lbs is my 'bikini weight' Grin

jimblejambles look for LostGirl's posts on the shredhead thread. She has lots of top tips on positioning and stuff. I found the 3rd day the hardest, but honestly it does get easier. Just done day 3 of level 2.

I am trying to low carb (but not manically), drink more water, and exercise every day. I'm also having a slow but steady clear-out of the house so I'm not so overwhelmed by clutter and mess. Makes me feel more positive.

PatTheHammer · 01/02/2011 19:58

Right, seriously looking up this shredding! Sounds like you are doing well people!

I have been ok today, had loads of energy despite no sleep (DS was a nightmare last night!)

However, did just succumb to 3 After Eights that I found in the biscuit tin after dinner..........can't be that bad, they are very thin!

Titsandteeth · 01/02/2011 21:59

Hi all

I looked up the 30 day shred on Amazon and was scared off. It looks horrendous! But then I'm finding a walk with the dog a bit taxing these days. Maybe I should just go for it.

I downloaded an app on my phone which tracks my weight and food etc. I apparently need to eat about 1500 cals a day to lose weight. Yesterday I thought I'd been really good and barely eaten a thing, but according to the sodding app I was about 600 cals over my daily limit! WHO CAN EXIST ON 1500 a day, it's hardly anything. Eeek.

I am feeling much better today, much less tired, have managed to walk the dog and still feel like I have energy to spare.

Off now to take dd1 to school. We should walk but I'm making the excuse that her bag is full of books so too heavy for me to lug 2 ks.

Well done everyone.

Chandon · 02/02/2011 10:06

wanted to go swimming yesterday, but pool was closed.Sad

So instead I went home and read a book. I managed NOt to snack though, just had 2 cups of Rooibos.

So a bit good and a bit bad (no exercise).

off to play tennis this evening, outdoor court! (mad emoticon).

Had porridge for breakfast (need carbs, but try to make them wholegrain. Low carbing is all the rage I know, but has me fainting)).

Titsandteeth · 02/02/2011 10:42

I can't do low carbing either, although I'm cutting down. And trying to cut out sugar. It makes me all wobbly and hopeless. Instead I'm concentrating on eating masses of veg and some fruit and wholemeal bread. I'm gonna be SO healthy!

Well done on the tennis chandon, you'll feel brilliant when you've done it.

izquierda · 02/02/2011 10:58

Hello everyone, interesting and supportive to read all your posts.
I mentioned we have the builders in which is making food preparation a bit tricky.
I need to eat more fruit throughout the day and have cut down on sugar. I only drink decaf tea and coffee anyway due to problems with my waterworks!
Am planning to go to the gym later today.
Tried a pair of trousers on yesterday and they weren't as snug as I expected, so that was good news.
I haven't weighed myself for ages. Going to a slimming club got me rather obsessed about the scales and I have taken a break from them.
With me it's all in the mind and to do with emotions. Came home late last night from seeing my football team lose - feeling miserable - so mindlessly scoffed three or four sweet biscuits with a cup of tea.Sad
I wondered if PattheHammer's name had anything to do with football?Smile
Hope you all have a good day.

PatTheHammer · 02/02/2011 22:11

Chandon- Hope the tennis went well

Iz- Not footie related (although my DH is a football nut, but Everton not West Ham). He is a character in 'Handy Manny' Which when I joined MN 2.5 years ago was the only thing that was ever allowed on the tele during DD's waking hours. She doesn't watch it now (after we purchased quite a bit of merchandise obviously), but DS (2) quite likes it.

Tits- I did 1500cal a day last year for a few months, lost a lot of weight but I was HUNGRY all the time. Can't do low carb me either, I would faint, I just try and cut down on bread and cakes!

So. Done Aqua-aerobics tonight and booked myself in for Body Balance on saturday morning. Contemplating a run tomorrow, we'll see!

Don't think I've had much naughty stuff today, just a bit of Brie for lunchBlush

Titsandteeth · 03/02/2011 01:00

Right I've just walked for 4K with the dawg. Burnt 186 Calories according to Runkeeper.Which is approximately 1/2 a bread roll .

Still it was a beautiful walk, the mimosa scent hangs heavy in the air, its warm and the butterflies and birds are out.

I am feeling more energetic, my skin is starting to look a bit brighter and my eyes are clearer. I have also managed to book my dd into gymnastic lessons which she will be delighted about. So all good.

Titsandteeth · 03/02/2011 01:01

Oh one more thing. I did try to run a short way and my arse and hips sodding killed. Is that my age (42) do you think? Am I now too old and decrepit to run any more? Sad

OP posts:
izquierda · 04/02/2011 10:37

Hi girls, the thread's gone quiet - how are we all doing?
I'm doing well, been out walking, off to gym this afternoon - feeling brighter, despite inclement weather in the UK!
Got s weekend at home so must be careful foodwise....hope you all have a good weekend

FoundWanting · 04/02/2011 21:29

Day 4 and I'm doing well on the exercise and drinking water. I'm craving carbs though and I've only cut out the big baddies (potatoes, bread, pasta, etc).

Probably shouldn't have had a baking day for DCs. Now there are buns and flapjacks and even a sodding tart calling to me.

Titsandteeth · 04/02/2011 22:26

Hi everyone

I'm still here. All going well. In fact today I have woken with oodles of energy and already (8.45am) cleaned our upstairs including hoovering and washing the floor! I am SUPERWOMAN.

DH is off this weekend for a fishing trip with a bunch of mates. So I am revelling in the glorious lack of another adult around.

Food wise, I've been an absolute star. Last night we went to the kids school bbq and I did without wine or snags (sausages). Instead I came home and had steamed fish and avocado and tomato salad .

I don't think I'll be able to exercise much today as I have both girls with me.

Iz well done on your gym visit.

Foundwanting also very well done on progress, just STEP AWAY from the baking. Eat a carrot, you know you'd prefer it Grin

Everyone doing great by the sounds of it!!

I did well at aqua on weds, had a 10min run on thurs and am off to body balance class at 11am. Circuit training tomorrow. So exercise good.

Eating has been abysmalBlush.
Yesterday had loads of cake at work and then went out for a thai meal with some girlfriends. Had the pad thai noodles with prawns which is not too bad but shared a starter (deep fried stuff!) and had half a bottle of wineBlush. Still, had about 4 glasses of water, didn't get wasted and actually felt fine at 7am this morning...............so it is an improvement, I guess!

FreudianSlippery · 06/02/2011 08:53

How's everyone doing?

Just checking in to say I've signed up for a course at my local gym. It was only £30, and lasts 16 weeks. As well as 8 group sessions you also get 8 personal trainer sessions!

I really can't wait (starts on 17th). Only just discovered this gym (it's round the back of a school) and it turns out there's loads of classes you can do without being a member! You just pay £4.50, they've got boxercise, aerobics, spinning etc. No way can we afford a membership ATM as DH is on sick pay but when he's back at work (and I may work part time) I will try to find the money, even if it's my birthday money!

Have also downloaded the MyFitnessPal app.

Titsandteeth · 06/02/2011 21:41

Hi, I weighed myself this morning after being "good" for a WEEK, no booze, exercise (fairly light) and healthy eating and Ta DAaaaaaa I've lost 3/4 of a lb. .

However, I won't be despondent as I feel FANTASTIC, well, more fantastic than I used to at least.

Freud, that's great about your gym. I wish there was something like that near me, but they seem to be so expensive here.

Pat, don't stress about the eating. The Thai meal sounds amazing. Just try to be a bit less full on with the cakes perhaps?

I have a big night coming up this Friday, not sure yet if we're all meeting at a pub (tricky with pub food to eat well). Or here, which would be easier.
