Lighter Life - Has anyone done it & kept the weight off?

I'm seriously considering doing this. I have about 4.5 stone to lose. Usual story. I am pretty goddamn greedy but when I put my mind to it I am capable of being strict. I lost 3 stone on weight watchers 9 years ago, but life was very different then.

I now am stuck at home in the evenings due to DH's work so normal weight loss clubs and exercise classes are not possible.

I also think the quick start of these type of diets could be such a boost.

However I know 3 people who have done this. Weight fell off no problem but 2 of them put it all back on again (and more).

I should add that a healthy eathing approach has just never worked for me. It's like either feast or famine.

Any thoughts?

Hi Calamine - hope you are getting more into the "groove" of Abstinence. And Hi Verso, 45lbs is a great weight loss, nearly 3.5 st!

I've not logged on for a few weeks, had more weekends away and the run up to the end of term has been manic with nativity/concerts/parties/xmas shopping and planning etc. Anyway today is the end of week 14 of Abstinence and the start of RTM for me - not that I have been in total obedience of the rules!!! Total loss is 45lbs which I am pleased with although I was hopeful to have reached 10st (nice round number Wink) - just 3 or 4lbs short! Bit annoying but given the last week or so which have been stressful (my DH sacked the au pair!) I'm not too disappointed.

I actually think the hard(er) bit is to come as now the safety net is gone and I have to make more decisions myself. Still this is about taking control of food and eating so part of the process I guess. The idea is not to be on foodpacks forever Grin

Hope all is well with everyone.
HCB

52lb... nearly four stones!! Go me! Had my office Christmas party on Friday which was a bit of a wash-out one way and another, though I did get some lovely compliments on the new 'me'. Also some very probing and negative questions/opinions about Lighter Life, unasked for, I might add! Xmas Hmm Still - their problem, not mine! Hope everyone else is well and enjoying the snow.

Hotcross, how are you finding RTM? I am planning to do about four weeks of Developers and then go on to RTM. Are you doing the long (12 week) one or the 'lite' (4 week) one?

3HotCrossBuns · 21/12/2010 15:31

Verso that is A-MAZE-Zing! Well done you. RTM is ok, the first week was a bit mad - I wasn't feeling well (time of the month!) and didn't really feel like eating anything at all. Picked up by about day 4/5 so I ended up losing another 2lbs last week.

There are no more meetings for me now until the new year and then we are away so there's about 5 wks until I get weighed again. Fingers crossed I don't pile the weight back on... I didn't know there were 2 types of RTM but I'll be dong the 12 week one as there's such a long gap now for me until my next meeting. Then I can get myself back on track, if necesary.

This week is better on RTM and the things we're allowed are ok. So far I've managed to resist the xmas treats that seem to be making their way into the house...thanks DH!

When do you come of Abstinence then? Xmas day is just another day when people are eating, I suppose!

Verso · 24/12/2010 13:29

I was going to do four weeks of Developers, but it depends how close I get to my goal. This week I didn't lose much, but it could be because last week's weigh in was on a Saturday and then yesterday's was a Thursday, so not a proper week's gap. I've lost 54lb in total so far - just 2 lb to go to four stone!! Yay!!

How is RTM going? Do you mind me asking if it's any cheaper? Am feeling very broke what with Christmas and everything. Happy Christmas, anyway!!

Verso · 30/12/2010 10:22

57lb!!! Xmas Grin FOUR STONE!!

Starting to think about RTM... I went to a different group last night as my usual LLC wasn't running one this week and the counselling was much better. (It's good at my normal group, but this was excellent.) I'm thinking of asking to switch counsellors when I go on to RTM, seeing as that is the most important part of the programme. I'm worried about offending my current counsellor though, even though I know my own success on this programme is important to me and I need to do what is right for ME!

Looks like I killed the thread! Confused Biscuit

Just started the "couch to 5k" programme as one of my goals is to run a sponsored 5k this year for the MS Society. I love feeling this free and energetic. Lighter Life is brilliant!

How's everyone else doing? (unless I'm all alone in here, that is...)

Hi - I know this is an old thread, but I just wondered how everyone has managed with their weight after Lighter Life total? I started on saturday and so far so good! Smile
