Switching from wegovy pills - any suggestions?

I’ve been on wegovy pills for 3.5 months and I’m not finding them effective - I’m now on the 9mg pills and have very little appetite suppression or effect at all. I’ve lost maybe 5 kg of the 40 I need to lose. So I’m thinking of switching to either monjaro or an alternative pill.

Has anyone else done similar - and will I need to start again at the lowest dose?

Many thanks….fingers crossed for better!

Hi @chalkyc2 I am using Foundayo and find it really effective, I’m using it for maintenance but lots of people have found it very effective for weight loss so definitely speak to your provider about it, I’m not sure what dose they would recommend though. You can always progress to something else later in your weight loss journey if you stall ? I wish the tablets had been available when I started as the cost is significantly lower.

I would probably try the 25mg dose of Wegovy tablets before swapping to something else.

Foundayo is less effective than Wegovy so I am not sure why you'd want to try it. If you can afford it long term, if you decide to switch I would just go for Mounjaro.

Fingers crossed you get a better result with another type of medication! I would suggest having a look at https://medeazy.co.uk to compare prices of the various meds (Mounjaro, WeGovy injections/pills and Foundayo).

I'd be interested to know your highest dose of Mounjaro, dose at time of switch and how long you were on Mounjaro if you're happy to respond. Thanks.

My highest dose on MJ was 10mg - I lost 50kg over 15 months. I switched to wegovy tablets first but I did not find them consistent every day so changed to Foundayo 9mg. I am currently taking 14.5mg and find the suppression very good. I changed provider to get a better price and will continue to do this as often as possible going forward. I’m currently using New Health as they had the best offer. If I find the suppression too strong my plan is to take a tablet on alternative days. No side effects with taking Foundayo so far.

Ok guys thanks - I’ll try the 25mg - I winced at the price so these defo need to be more impactful! Will report back.

Are you waiting more than 30 minutes before eating or drinking after taking the tablets ? There's strong evidence that the tablet can take up to 90mins to be absorbed and that even a cup of tea will prevent that happening. I posted a thread linking to an article a while ago , ill link it again below.

Since I have started to wait longer I have been having really good appetite suppression

I found that waiting as long as possible before eating and drinking gave much better suppression when I was on weygovy, sometimes I struggled to swallow the tablet though and it felt like it was sticking in my throat so I swapped to Foundayo, the suppression is good and it’s a smaller easier tablet to swallow with no restrictions on how or when you take it, I am using it for maintenance though so I can’t say how effective it would be for weight loss long term.

Laska2Meryls · 19/10/2026 10:56

I'm a way off maintenance, but when I get there I will definitely be strongly considering moving over to Foundayo as well, @Popcornandbeetroot . It does sound a much better option for maintaining because of the lesser restrictions.
