My dad died 4 years ago and I massively comfort ate and put on a lot of weight. Im now officially obese with a bmi of 34. I eat fairly healthily and im active and jog a couple of times a week. I cannot shift the weight so im seriously thinking of starting jabs or tablets but I honestly dont know where to start. Any tips?

Before I started, I read loads of threads on here, I read articles from reputable sources and I had quite a lengthy ‘chat’ with ChatGPT for advice and direction of what to choose (wegovy vs Mounjaro)

Prices and deals can be reviewed on monj.co.uk

its a good idea to go into it with as much info as possible so you can know what to expect and prepare. Good luck! If you have any specific questions once you’ve done your research, everyone on here is really helpful :)

p.s. it’s been absolutely fabulous for me!

So, you would first need to decide what medication you want.

Mounjaro is an injection and is the most effective but also the most expensive. The Monj website is a good place to start and check out the price ranges. Wegovy injections are a bit cheaper but they are less effective and have a slightly higher rate of side effects. There are links to a Wegovy price comparison site on Monj.

Then, if you prefer a daily tablet, you can choose from Wegovy tablets or Foundayo. Wegovy tablets are a little less effective than the Wegovy injections, but otherwise similar in their effect. You need to take them after an 8 hour fast (can be overnight) and with a small amount of water and then nothing at all for at least 30 mins.

Foundayo tablets are the least effective, but you can take them without the requirements for the Wegovy tablets. People on Foundayo lost on average about 11 to 12% of their starting weight after 72 weeks, compared to 14% for Wegovy and 20% for Mounjaro.

I would consider the costs, and whether each option is affordable long term and if/when you get to the higher doses. It won't just be the length of time needed to lose the weight, you'll need to consider your plan for maintenance. So, tapering back down to a lower dose, or staying on a particular dose level long term etc etc.

Excellent post. I think people do need to think carefully about whether this is something they'd want to commit to long term or not. There are certainly people who come off and are maintaining, but that's going to require a really significant lifestyle and mindset change that you'd want to be planning for from the start.

Also, as and when you start, drink loads of water.
