Help please! Being sick but after 9th week- what's going on?

Yesterday I did my 10th jab at 2.5mg. Today and last Saturday, I have been sick. It's been so horrible. I had no symptoms previously.
Has anyone had this happen? I thought it happened when people started or went up to a higher dosage.

What should I do to adjust my eating habits?
Yesterday, I ate :
• granola and protein yoghurt and banana
• pot noodle (I know)
• pasta with beef mince and cheese
• too many Japanese rice crackers.

I haven't really felt suppression for about 3/ 4 weeks.

Well, it seems you have eaten a lot of processed and high fat food. I would start there, then when things settle down I would consider going up a dose. You aren't getting suppression because your dose is too low, which means you are eating crap which is making you sick.

Eat some salad, drink water and, when feeling better, increase your dose.

BeautifulViolets · 29/08/2026 13:32

You say ‘i know’ after listing pot noodle, so you really do know don’t you! I don’t think that’s the best thing to eat on MJ, plus pasta in the evening, plus Japanese rice crackers.

You’ve answered your own question.

AplineDaisies · 29/08/2026 13:40

I started MJ in a pretty ignorant state.
@DBatteryBand What do you eat ?
Do you avoid all junk food?
I'm scared of going up a dose if I am going to be sick again

I've had 2 terrible episodes on Mj. One in my 2nd week ever which I thought must have been down to eating some spicy-ish chicken fajita. And one when I tried to increase from 3.5 (click counting) to 4mg. I had good suppression but had eaten a little pasta arabiatta - again slightly spicy- and I was severely ill with d &v. In between those 2 episodes, I had increased from 2.5 to 5 for 2 weeks- while there was no d&v, I did feel constantly nauseous and so incredibly, incredibly tired- which is why I tried the click counting to get a suitable dose.
It's awful being so violently ill and not knowing what has triggered it. Those weeks, I have really questioned if it was worth it.

Of course, you have to eat healthily! You can’t eat crap. You’ll just put all the weight on again when you stop. Crap food needs to completely go forever

You do need to over-haul what you're eating. You asked what I eat:

Breakfast - Full fat Greek yoghurt with raspberries, blueberries and blackberries, or eggs (usually two boiled eggs or a two-egg omelette).

Lunch - usually chicken or salmon salad.

Dinner - whatever the family are having, but usually I only eat a smaller amount and limited carbs (just don't particularly like them on MJ). Lots of salad/veg.

I drink lots of water, mint tea, tea and coffee. I like a biscuit or three and will often have a mini Magnum after dinner.

Pre Mounjaro I was an absolute cake and crisps fiend. Now I just don't fancy them. I've lost 8 stone since May 2025 and I would say the only times I've felt really poorly have been when I've eaten crap or food that was just too rich.

AplineDaisies · 29/08/2026 16:04

That is amazing @DBatteryBand - well done.
But yes I'm not feeling much suppression which is why I'm eating poorly too.
I guess I do need to go up to a higher dosage.

Go up a dose.

Include more fruit and veg in your diet and reduce the carbs. You've got no fresh veg at all in there. Just adding in some salad at lunch (with lean protein as @DBatteryBand does) or a portion of green veg with dinner would be an improvement.

Of all the fruits, bananas are the most carby. Maybe mix it up and also try an apple or some raspberries. "Protein" yoghurts are often sweetened. Just buy proper unflavoured strained greek yoghurt* like Fage or supermarket own version - just as high in protein but not a processed product. Watch it with the granola too - so many of them are over-sweetened and have eg raisins in which are like little sugar bullets. The less carby sugary things you eat, the less you'll crave them, regardless of suppression.

*NOT the cheaper "greek style" which is artificially thickened.

Katalica · 29/08/2026 17:25

What are you hoping to achieve from using MJ?

If you’re properly Fat and not just a skinny fucker wanting to lose half a stone, then you need to think about this longer term and whether you’re willing to overhaul your lifestyle and cut the junk, otherwise, you’ll be back at square 1 within a few months of stopping the jabs. ☹️

I’ve stopped eating bread and pasta (not really interested in either of them) and prioritise fruit, veg and chicken and try not to eat anything fatty or too carby as it has made me feel sick in the past. If I can’t be bothered to cook, then I fill up with fruit and breakfast cereals. My evening treat is a bowl of strawberries and black grapes.

Yes I'm obese and have a way to go. I know I need to have a serious overhaul in my eating habits but just didn't know where to begin. So all the advice here is very helpful.

Also, in addition to my first post, good fats: avocado, a handful of nuts like cashews and almonds or a spoonful of nut butters (ones without added sugar).

And eggs, good for both good fats and protein.

All of these things will support the mounjaro in helping with satiety and stopping you craving crap.

BTW the other thing to remember about pot noodles is they're stuffed full of salt, to give them the illusion of flavour. All that's going to do is make you retain water which won't help the number on the scales.

MrsMiagi · 30/08/2026 07:03

You don't necesarily have to go up a dose yet. Eating more whole foods can help you feel fuller, especially if you prioritise protein and fibre. You could tell chat gpt what you like to eat and it can put a food plan together

Mysticmaiden · 30/08/2026 09:48

Your diet is highly carbs and sugar but little protein and low fibre. You definitely need to increase protein, reduce carbs and increase veg maybe snack on nuts. Too much carbs and fat causes the most side effects and high carbs causes sugar spikes and crashes keeping you stuck in a carb craving loop, its probably what caused the nausea. Red meat can be hard to digest and cause sulphur burps so just watch it.
When you increase your dose, it will control your blood sugars better and if you have insulin resistance, which most obese people have, eventually you won't crave carbs or sweet stuff as much.
I was prediabetic and a carb monster but on mj I went a year without eating pasta or rice, cakes, biscuits or desserts.
I needed to go to 10mg for week long satiety and suppression and it resolved my high blood sugar symptoms so I was no longer prediabetic, stopped craving carbs constantly, wasn't as hungry all the time and could fast without shaking and feeling dizzy. The lower doses wore off for me within weeks. Increase your dose otherwise its inefficient and you're throwing money away as it is not working effectively on your blood sugars and satiety, 2.5mg is just a starter dose but is not therapeutic so definitely move to 5mg.
I'm in maintenance now, have some carbs but it's a balanced diet. Eating more protein like chicken, eggs, fish and dairy will reduce muscle loss and keep you fuller as it naturally increases satiety. Also drink at least 2L water, including hot drinks, as water is needed to burn fat and can reduce cravings.
I'd recommend downloading myfitnesspal app free version and log your food as you will see your calories and macros, so it's a good way to improve your diet and lose fat.

Mysticmaiden · 30/08/2026 09:58

You can also take the remaining doses every 5 days to increase the dose and use up your pen before moving on to 5mg.

AplineDaisies · 30/08/2026 21:19

That's so helpful @Mysticmaiden
