Are jabs or tablets preferred? that's entirely down to your preference, in combination with the effectiveness of each medication and the cost. I don't know how much information you've looked into about weight loss medication, but in the UK currently you can be prescribed Mounjaro injections, Wegovy injections, Wegovy tablets or the very new Foundayo tablets which are about to become available this month. I have listed them in order of effectiveness according to the clinical trial data. That is pretty much also in cost order. Wegovy injections and tablets are cheaper than Mounjaro and about the same cost as each other. Foundayo so far seems to be a little cheaper. The injections are a quick once a week jab that is easy to do and usually totally painless. The daily Wegovy tablets have strict requirements to fast for 8 hours before taking, take with a small amount of water, then consume nothing else for at least 30 minutes. Foundayo you can take normally, daily, no requirements.
Where do you order your meds from? people use any of the GPhC registered pharmacies, online or on the high street. There are price comparison sites for each medication:
https://monj.co.uk/discount-mounjaro-price-list/ for Mounjaro comparison
https://igovy.co.uk/wegovy-price-comparison-uk/#live-data for Wegovy injections
https://ogovy.co.uk/ for Wegovy tablets
https://dayo.co.uk/foundayo-discount-prices/ for Foundayo
The medications are the same from wherever you get your prescription from, so I would mainly be guided by price and recent Trust Pilot reviews, plus their GPhC inspection report. Some providers operate on a subscription basis, so it's worth checking that you understand what you are signing up for - how long, what the cancellation process and charges are, what the price is for the second and subsequent months. For any pharmacy, you will only get the discounted price for your first prescription, after that you'll pay the retail price. Of course, you can swap to a new pharmacy each month if you want, to take advantage of their new customer discounts.
Any advice? Hmm. Well, if you are successfully losing weight and managing without medication, it would be cheaper to continue on with that even if the weight loss is slower than you'd like. Medication always comes with the risk of side effects, although usually mild and manageable. Plus the ongoing cost. You would also need to think about longer than a few months. It could take a few months to get the full effects, and then are you going to want to stay on them long term? Many people do. You'd need to consider what to do when you reach your target and what your plan for maintenance will be. That's a harder task in many ways than losing the weight in the first place.
