Bit of background. Me and my husband both started Mounjaro in Jan 2025. He was a super responder, did 2 pens at 2.5, 2 pens at 5, back down to one last pen at 2.5, and had lost just over 4 stone and finished his weight loss journey by July 2025.
He was maintaining extremely easily with calorie counting, and all was going swimmingly until April this year, when he was diagnosed with an extremely rare autoimmune disease, and had to go onto a high dose of prednisolone (60mg) which he's been on ever since.
Unfortunately, they've had the advertised side effects on his - he's starving all the time, and has put on about 2.5 stone since April.
We're hoping he'll get the go ahead to start tapering down next week, but it's a very slow process, and even if all goes smoothly, it will be May next year before he's off them fully.
We have two 5mg mounjaro pens in the fridge. I bought them when the prices rose dramatically last year thinking I'd need them, but it turns out I didn't (I took a lot longer than him plus had more to lose, but I've been fully off since May this year). They are unopened, and expire at the end of January 2027.
Just wondered if there was anyone on prednisolone who had tried Mounjaro, and wondered how it had gone for you? He's upset about how much weight he has put on. I was wondering about him starting again when he's come down the steroid dosage a bit.
I would obviously speak to his neurologist first. Just looking for any real world experiences.
