Still got food noise on wegovy

Hello! I started wegovy 0.25 and am on jab 3. I want to lose about 1.5 stone to take me to a 10st 5'7 size. It's going well, I've lost about 5 pounds after 2 weeks.

I'm losing weight but I thinking constantly about food. I'm not eating cos I feel full and overeating happen quick and makes me feel ill. I had heard from others that "food noise" disappears, but I'm waiting until I can eat.

Does anyone else still find themselves a bit fixated on food still?

I felt like it was water. No impact at all.

LorenzoCalzone · 26/07/2026 16:44

It didn't affect your appetite @Thelondonone ?

Q: do you get the W privately or on the NHS. Mid 50s and have gone from size 10 to size 14 in a really short time and feeling rather miserable about it all. Suspect it is normal meno weight gain but unimpressed to say the least

Re fixating on food, I suspect that that is the early stages of your new eating regime. It will dial back when you get beyond the newness of it

justsaxy · 26/07/2026 18:49

It can’t help with all of the mental cravings, sadly. But you are doing well, keep on going!

howcanihelp2020 · 26/07/2026 19:32

It did nothing for me either, I went from 0.25 to 7.2 mg and lost around 4lbs, I was convinced that it would kick in at some point, but nothing.

I switched to Mounjaro and that’s been great suppression and I don’t even think about food.

TheDogsMother · 26/07/2026 19:49

I’m about to start mo th three on 1mg and I don’t think I’ve lost anything. Occasionally feel full for a time but then it fades and I just seem to get bloaty and uncomfortable. I don’t need to lose loads but am short so need to get back into the healthy bmi and a size that suits my height. It’s expensive for not much success.

AgnesMcDoo · 26/07/2026 19:53

You might need to switch to mj

RoseField1 · 26/07/2026 19:54

You're on a very low dose. The maximum dose is like 7mg isn't it? And you're on 0.25. be patient, go up the doses.

RockinCara · 26/07/2026 20:00

I’ve been on MJ for 15 months and lost 5 stones. I’ve pretty much always had a huge appetite and food noise. I always think about food and I can eat huge portions. I’ve just had to train myself to grab something low calorie if I snack. I’m sitting here munching a carrot! On the positive side, I’ve never had a side effect and I have moved down the doses, with the plan to stop soon, without any problems.

Privately via Medexpress. Im in same situation, have tried to lose weight for past 3 years plus. I'd just go up and down by the same 2 pounds, so losing 5 in a fortnight is a big deal for me!

I'd recommend trying it!

I've found similar on mounjaro, I'm 5 months in. After about the first couple of weeks I fell back into old habits. Still thinking about food, what/when to eat the next meal.

However, I've still been losing weight constantly while no longer calorie counting, so overall I must still be eating less. I'm generally making better choices, but sometimes I prioritise crisps, as they're my weakness.

I suspect that if I stopped the WLI now, I'd put all the weight straight back on. I've still got loads to lose. So far my BMI has gone from over 45 to 35, so I'm hoping when I reach a healthy BMI that some of the better habits will kick in.

If not, I guess when I hit goal weight I'll be on a maintenance dose for the foreseeable.

As mentioned above, you are only on the starting dose, so you may feel more impact once you move up the doses.

Dunkerquetodover · 26/07/2026 20:15

Surely a bit of food noise is good? You don't want to lose all interest in food. 5lb is a great stary

Youremylobster86 · 26/07/2026 22:28

I'm on my third week of wegovy after having a 1.5 year break from mounjaro (maintained successfully but want to lose another 1.5stone).

I find the 2 days after I do the injection I have food noise and can eat normally. Then day 3+ I can eat a small breakfast and lunch but can barely eat in the evening. I've lost 6lbs so it is working, but the food noise isn't constant. Very different to mj where the suppression hit straight way and started to fade by the time my next jab was due.

CoastalCalm · 26/07/2026 22:32

I found the same , switched to mounjaro again it’s worth the extra £ for me

SunnySunnyDayz · 26/07/2026 22:38

You're barely on it yet, be patient as you up your dose.

You don't have much to lose, I was the same, aiming for 1.5 stone. I stayed on 0.5mg, so have never really lost food noise and appetite suppression is much lower but the weight is still coming off. Slow weight loss is much less risky (gall bladder and pancreatic cancer), and needing some self control is healthy and will help you when you stop taking it.

I'd recommend increasing doses until you can lose weight whilst managing appetite and hunger.

If you really want it off fast then MJ is like a sledgehammer in comparison.

Pretty much no one gets it on the nhs, their target is 220k people by 2028, of the 30 odd million eligible, it’s bmi 4o with 4 weighr related health conditions, and even then it’s unlikely as they have a quota, and the 220 inc diabetics whose blood sugar can’t be controlled with other meds,

7 million on in the uk pretty much all apart from a tiny percentage are paying privately,

Proteinpudding · 27/07/2026 17:08

Just to give an alternative view when people say 'food noise' disappears, it's not always that you're not thinking about food at all, it's that the thinking about it doesn't feel as stressful, or something you're fighting. So you're no longer craving certain foods, you're not bargaining with yourself about how if you avoid X you can eat Y, you're not constantly thinking about the ice cream you've got in the freezer.

But most people on WLI are still thinking about food, just in a different way - planning their meals, thinking about how they can get enough protein/fibre when they don't want to eat a lot, thinking about how to navigate social situations when they don't want to eat a full meal.

Also WLI stop you feeling physically hungry, and for many people they reduce the dopamine hit you get from certain foods, but if you usually eat to reward yourself, or emotionally eat when stressed, you can still feel that pull, and then the disappointment when it no longer does what it used to, ie it doesn't make you feel better. I still found myself wanting chocolate, even though when it was in front of me it didn't appeal, because in my head it was something I looked forward to and I still wanted a 'treat'!

I think a big part of WLI is using the time of the limited appetite to build new habits, ie different ways to deal with boredom and stress that aren't food based. Or if you're a bit of a 'foodie' finding other hobbies or ways of socialising.

Good luck!

BringBackCatsEyes · 27/07/2026 17:18

Maybe because you’re barely overweight?
Maybe food noise isn’t the main contributor to you being heavier than you’d like?

Belladog1 · 28/07/2026 11:56

I have only just started taking wegovy, and I can tell the difference already. I am still hungry and I look forward to my meals, but I can eat a small meal and be satisfied. Plus - In the past, I always ate my dinner and no matter how full I felt, I wanted pudding. For the last few days I haven't wanted something sweet after my meal.

I live alone, and I gained weight by emotional eating. I would raid the crisps cupboard or binge on cake. I didn't have a stop button. Why eat one chocolate bar when there are 5 in the packet? Over the weekend I was home with all those moorish things still around, and I didn't fancy crisps or biscuits. Instead I opened the fridge and ate a handful of blueberries. It's quite remarkable.
