Advice please for someone thinking about weight loss jabs

I’ve always been over weight and I have a back condition which has always made exercise difficult. I’ve tried weight watchers and 16:8 fasting and although I did achieve some weight loss I’ve found after a few months the change hasn’t been enough to spur me on and I’ve lost motivation. I’m 5ft and weigh over 15 stone. I hate being out of breath when I walk and hate being fat and sweaty in this weather. So I’ve decided to seriously look into weight loss injections but just don’t know where to start.

I have a few reservations though. I had my gall bladder removed 4 years ago and it can be a bit of a roulette sometimes with food as I do get bowel dumping from time to time and I’m worried the jabs will make matters worse. Also the cost is making me hesitate, I can afford it but I’m not sure which company have the best competitive prices.

Advice and recommendations would be gratefully received.

I had my gall bladder removed about 10 years ago. I haven't had any issues on MJ.
For prices look at monj.co.uk and you can see a list of reputable pharmacies with their prices. Some give first time discounts. I switch pharmacy every month to get the best price.

Agree with the above. You can switch every month to get new customer discounts although after a while you may run out of companies offering big discounts. Wegovy injections are the cheapest, actually cheaper than the Wegovy tablets overall, so perhaps worth giving that a try to see if it works well for you. Mounjaro is a bit more effective but expensive.

If you sign up to one of the subscription-based companies to get a new customer discount, check the terms and conditions carefully to make sure you can cancel the next month without being charged an early cancellation fee.

Im on mounjaro and love it. But if I was just starting out now I would gove wegovey a try first as its so much cheaper. There is comparison sites where you can see who is cheapest and you can switch round pharmacies to take advantage of 1st time discount , just take a pic of your box as proof.

Thank you everyone, I’m going to take a look at wegovy and see what deals I can get. Bit nervous, hope it works for me.

I am on Mounjaro as it’s documented as more successful. I went with Asda as I can collect it from the pharmacy, same day order and don’t have to worry about delivery. I can afford it, and not chasing deals, although have never needed to go above 5mg. I reckon I’m saving a great deal on food and wine so that helps to offset the price. It’s been very successful so far for me.

Can I just ask a quick question about switching each month, when you fill in all the questions and it asks you if you've taken weight loss medication before do you pretend its your 1st time or do you say yes?

@ButryMashPot you say yes, you’re already using WLI, it will ask you which one and what dose. Then you’ll be asked to upload evidence of your previous prescription. The simplest way is to show a photo of the prescription label on your medication box, that shows the date, your name, the medication and the dose.

@MaisieAutumnLockwood are you a real poster or are you some sort of bot? These kinds of posts just put people off the company that you’re trying to promote in my opinion,

Its a bot, I've reported. They are getting really annoying, sometimes they name Shemed, sometimes they don't, but the content is always similar.

MoneyJo · 23/07/2026 20:25

Is it always the same user name?

SilenceInside · 23/07/2026 20:25

@RenegadeKeeblerElf I report them a lot too, they are super annoying. Always the same kind of very bland post that vaguely references the topic whilst wittering on about being "supported". I wonder if Shemed are actually responsible for them, or if they are some kind of other AI that's practicing on these boards.

No, different every time but always similar - really names
