Think I’ve injected 2 doses in 2 places today!

Hi just did my second jab and think I’ve messed up.
decided to do in my thigh this time to rotate areas, and must not have got the needle in properly and had the liquid on my leg 😩
not sure if I had a golden dose pen but managed to force an extra click as could still see liquid and did another injection in my stomach… have I messed up this week or overdosed? Anyone know?
Only had a loss of 2lb but knew I’d be a slow loser- eating well, exercising more and ge really feeling good about it so am fully committed

You’re not making any sense. How many mg were you going for? Why were you forcing clicks if it was your second jab?

SilenceInside · 13/07/2026 01:13

If it’s only your second ever week, then the so called “golden dose” is irrelevant. That refers to the leftover medication after you’ve done four doses from the pen.

”Forcing one click” doesn’t make any sense. Did you wind the pen out to the 1 position again and do a second injection?

SilenceInside · 13/07/2026 01:15

Also, there can be a small amount of medication on your skin after injecting. If you read the paper instructions again you will see that it says this is normal and that you haven’t missed any medication and no need to inject again.

SilenceInside · 13/07/2026 01:16

And…. 2 pounds in a week is absolutely not a slow loser. I don’t know why people expect to lose huge amounts of weight. 1 to 2 pounds a week is what’s expected, so you are top end of normal.

KrazyKatty · 13/07/2026 09:33

Sorry OP, but your post is unclear. Did you really jab late at night when you’re potentially tired and not at your brightest?

Did you read the instruction leaflet first before starting the injections or just wing it? I think from what you’ve written here, you’ve double jabbed so as it’s still early days, eat really clean today and tomorrow to reduce the possibility of unpleasant side effects.

But read the leaflet thoroughly before next week’s jab and if you’re still unsure, come back and ask questions. Don’t take silly risks with the medication.

Also, 2lbs a week is a good rate of loss, not remotely slow. What were you expecting? As a comparison, mine is between 0 to 1lb a week and I’ve been on the jabs over 10 months now. If I lose 4lb in a month, that’s a good month!

BalakayAARon · 13/07/2026 09:39

You could take a photo of the pen so we can see how much you've used from it, but I don't think anyone can say how much you've actually injected into yourself.

caefe · 13/07/2026 14:44

An extra click? It’s 60 clicks to a full dose. So, when you put the needle in did you look at it? How much liquid was on your leg because sometimes there is a little seepage. If you took 2 full doses you will have had 5mg which will possibly make you really struggle to eat, I would stick with very bland stuff and make sure you do eat otherwise you are more likely to develop sickness/the runs. It’s not dangerous to take 5mg though so while it might make you a little unwell it won’t do any serious harm.

StoptheworldIneedtogetoff · 13/07/2026 14:46

Yikes if you've double dosed be prepared to feel totally awful tomorrow.

Scarlettpixie · 13/07/2026 15:14

Make this make sense OP. If it’s only your second jab what do you mean you forced another click. You usually twist until you see a 1 in the window and inject until you see a 0 - then hold for 5 seconds to be sure. For future reference don’t worry if you see a drop on your skin after you will have got most of the medication. Do watch while injecting though and don’t start pressing until you can see the needle is fully in.

minnymoobear · 13/07/2026 22:29

Sorry should have explained better! Had a late night as you can tell- fell asleep earlier in the evening and woke up, realised it was injection day so did the jab late at night! I’ll try to clarify below…

Me and DH both started last week, so using the same pen on 2.5mg, different needles obviously- so last night injections were 3 and 4 from the same pen. We’d ordered at the same time but kept having issues with his photos so just decided to get started with one pen.

He injected in his stomach and all good.
I decided to change my injection site to my thigh this week, where I’m not sure it went in. I had a wet patch around the site straight after injecting- size of a 10p piece.

I panicked (hence the confusing thread!) and then thought I’d try to get a golden dose from the pen as I could still see liquid. So I set it up again, forced the click and jabbed in my stomach.

I experienced itchiness in the injection spot after last week, and have had the same on my stomach today, but nothing on my leg so I think that was a wasted dose that didn’t go in properly 😩

Expensive lesson learnt!! Only inject when fully alert and at a sensible time!

Edited

Thankfully been good today, been out and about and went to gym today as well and ate well although didn’t feel so as hungry as last week

You shouldn’t share a pen, even when using a new pen needle. When the needle is attached and you insert it into your body there’s an open channel between your body and the glass vial part of the pen. There’s a small chance of backflow contamination each time.

Namechangingregularly · 13/07/2026 22:36

I don’t think you can force the pen for the extra dose. And it would need the full amount of clicks for a full dose. Not just a click.
but is the pen now empty? Looking at the pen will tell you how much is used.
either way don’t worry about it. It’s confusing at first.

Thank you @KrazyKatty

you’re totally right and I’ll be chuffed if I can lose any weight tbh as it’s not coming off any other way!

I’ve been eating healthier for the last few months, started walking, swimming, cycling so been trying to lose weight and build good habits but not lost much weight as kept sabotaging with junk foods treats and cheat days.

hopefully this is the thing that will help me to lose weight for long term - and while I know a steady loss is best, I’d love the buzz of a big loss 🤣🤣

Why are you using the same pen?

nocoolnamesleft · 13/07/2026 23:19

Sharing pens is an infection control nightmare.

If you decide to use the same pen it’s safer to use insulin syringes to extract the dose. That’s also how a golden dose would be extracted (although new pens don’t have).

Velvetandleather · 23/07/2026 07:06

Omg you can’t share a pen like this. If you want to share a pen you need to use it like a vial and use proper sterile syringes to withdraw the liquid, not the little pen needle you attach.

sharing an injection like this is madness.

you need to buy a pen each or use proper medical syringes and with draw the liquid, ones like these, don’t buy from Amazon, as they are for animals. You need ones for humans,
