Lighthearted - what has got worse since you’ve lost weight?

Obviously it’s mostly hugely beneficial! But inspired by my shower just now - and light hearted - anything worse or more difficult?

For me, I have cut myself the last few times I’ve shaved my knees! It’s so much harder! They are so knobbly now 😂

My scraggy old arse ☹️

Menopause.

I was 2 years post menopause when I started Mounjaro. Sure I had some peri and menopause symptoms when going through it, but it was fairly easy.

Turns out fat stores estrogen. Once a few stone had shifted then the REAL menopause symptoms started. Flashes 🥵, insomnia 🥱, brain fog 🧠, forgetting words in the middle of work meetings 💬😳

Now getting some relief from HRT but have booked another review next week to ask to increase dose again.

Lying or sitting on bones that I didn’t know I had are the worst. I’m also like a melted candle and have the hugest bingo wings but happily rocking sleeveless tops and shorts this year with confidence. I don’t look great but I feel great.

ChalkOutlines · 10/07/2026 21:19

I’m freaking cold all the time, except for the heatwaves.

Belly button thrush. Yuck. Never had it when really fat (which is a common cause) , so really annoying.

I’m getting bitten more this summer AND reacting badly to it!

morbidcuriosity · 10/07/2026 21:35

Sitting on hard wood chairs for too long. bum and spine hurt.
My knees touch when sleeping on my side and hurt.
Brought too many clothes and some stuff Ive had for ages waiting to fit into when ive tried its too big now.
I didnt have much boobs to begin with now I have nothing!!

morbidcuriosity · 10/07/2026 21:36

Oh and to add, yes the shaving my arm pits, I keep missing bits as they go so far up! haha
And freezing cold thing was horrible, still get a bit cold now sometimes!

PatioSitter · 10/07/2026 21:44

So many!

Constantly freezing (blame a thyroid removal for this alongside a 10.5st weightloss).

Developed Coccydynia, a painful condition because my coccyx now sticks out so much. I have to sit on horseshoe shaped special cushions almost everywhere!

Hip pain from lying on my side due to protruding bones.

Have had to replace all of my shoes. Went down a full shoe size and from a wide fit to standard.

Hair has thinned massively (I also blame thyroid issues here).

Bingo wings, melted candle belly, and upper thighs that resemble the testicles of a very elderly man.

Bank account has taken a massive hit from the need to purchase so many lovely new clothes and shoes, and from all the cosmetic procedures to try and help prevent a turkey neck.

Wouldn’t swap it all for the world, though 😁

Edited to add: and yes to the armpit shaving thing! It’s so weird.

Buscake · 10/07/2026 21:50

Cycled for the first time since weight loss recently when my car was in the garage. Look at the difference in my helmet before I adjusted it !!

GoingForAGallop · 10/07/2026 21:59

Another armpits one! My pits are so sunken and deep now that it’s impossible to shave them and I have to use removal cream instead.

I’ve dropped 10 dress sizes so my bank balance has taken a huge hit. I can’t stop buying lovely new clothes!

My children say that I’m not as cosy to cuddle anymore as I’m too slim now to be huggable!

ClawedButler · 10/07/2026 13:34

I realise this is a bit 'my diamond shoes are too tight', but when I lie on my side in bed my now-bony knees press together and it's uncomfortable. I used to have soft cushiony fat there =D

I’m so glad I’m not the only one! I’ve had to buy myself a knee cushion for sleeping as I was so uncomfortable!

InfoSecInTheCity · 10/07/2026 22:06

Well my nipple are fast approaching my belly button and I have to do a complicated stretch with my arm up as high as it can go and back a bit to get to the point where I can shave my armpits, and my stomach /belly button look like a melted candle or a drawing of a sad old man’s face due to all the loose skin.

I love it though! 10 stone down and I Weigh less than I did when I was 11, healthy BMI for the first time since primary school, wearing size 10 clothes and actually got a size 8 top the other day after decades in 20/22/24 (and if I’m honest most of that was jersey and elasticated so probably bigger), perfect blood pressure, cholesterol reduced to normal, diabetes fully under control, can walk for ages without needing to stop. It’s bloody great.

greylad · 10/07/2026 22:17

Those with the bingo wings - may I ask how much you’ve lost please?

Rainydays26 · 10/07/2026 23:04

My tail bone really hurts even on the sofa . Im tje bath i can feel eat bone as I lay back uts so painful 😭
Bingo wings, . Stomach pisses me off.
Oh and loose skin on my butt its horrible. Weaker than I used to be that stops me doing stuff.

Positive stuff can wear shorts hadn't worn shorts in around 15 years.. things fit better in general. Oh I can breath better. And I don't leak when I cough.

likelysuspect · 10/07/2026 23:13

Lost 10 stone

Cold
Bony
turkey neck
cutting when shaving
cant sit comfortably as no fat on bum
lost my fat pads on my feet so painful to walk in bare feet or uncushioned shoes

obviously saggy skin
poor balance, nto sure my body knows where its centre of gravity is anymore
expensive office chair too big for me now
cant bath comfortably as cant sit on bum

PermanentTemporary · 10/07/2026 23:18

The cold. Fuck me. I used to walk through the winter impervious and now I have hot water bottles and blankets nine months of the year.

notatinydancer · 10/07/2026 23:24

My face has sagged.

SpottyAlpaca · 10/07/2026 23:31

Firstly, I lost 35kg without using any weight loss drugs so please disregard anything I say which you may deem irrelevant.

For me, the downsides of significant weight loss were the size of my credit card bills caused by innumerable shopping trips because all my clothes no longer fitted me, and all the trips to charity shops to get rid of the old fatty stuff. I have kept a pair of jeans & a few other things to remind me of how big I was when I was obese. Never, ever again.

RoseOliviaAu · 11/07/2026 00:28

My knees constantly crack. I sound ridiculous.

My ring coat £95 to be resized

HappyWineDay · 11/07/2026 01:25

I share the shaving issues but from a man’s perspective. It used to be so easy when shaving my balloon-like head. Now the loose skin gathers in front of the razor like a series of bow waves, and the blade bounces and neatly takes the top layer of skin from each wave crest, leaving my face covered in scabby zebra stripes.
I used to have what I thought was a relatively attractive bottom filling my jeans. They’re now those baggy I’ll fitting things that look awful from behind, even in my new much smaller waist size (32”) and naked - goodness me. Anyone seen an elephant from behind?
And it’s not a comfortable bum to sit on for car journeys of longer than 500 yards.
Still, I’d rather be like this than the 4.5 stone heavier version of me from a year ago, that’s for sure!

justsaxy · 11/07/2026 05:27

My feet are freezing!!!! I need winter socks ALL of the time.

Beautifully descriptive, thank you! 😂

My poor old boobs. As others have said, I have to roll them up and stuff them into my bra. The worst thing is swimming - they float up out of my costume and try to escape. Have bought a very expensive new costume in an attempt to stop this happening. It had better work!

I also feel the cold. I've lost about 7 1/2 stone and, when it's not 32 degrees, I am freezing . On the plus side, I used to overheat and get all sweaty as soon as the temperature got above 21 degrees. My new 'comfortable' temperature is about 28 degrees.

DBatteryBand · 11/07/2026 08:08

My feet have also got smaller. I first realised this when I literally ran out of my shoes when dashing across a busy road.

GreenFootstool · 11/07/2026 08:11

Hip pain! Turns out I have hip dysplasia with arthritis and being a fat knacker actually supported the joint better. FFS 😂

But I've also had to replace ALL my shoes and I'm devastated about some of them! I didn't expect to lose a full shoe size!

darkandgloomy · 11/07/2026 08:13

Sitting on my bum for too long hurts- a lot!

I was at the hairdressers having foils the other day and my usual hairdresser was on holiday. The lady who done my hair would not. Stop. Talking. Everytime she said something she would stop doing my hair. Took 4 hours for a wash, foils, cut, dry and straighten. I was in agony!
