Hi,
Im the heaviest Ive ever been- I feel and look revolting.

I eat well but have zero motivation to exercise- this is the main issue and I really need to change that.
For me exercise helps me lose weight-
I need to lose 5 stone.
I dont want to use the jabs.
Is there a good weight loss supplement that anyone has found really helps?
Ive signed up for the gym!
Thank you

I had a BMI of 30 and got down to a normal weight (lost about a quarter of my bodyweight) through doing 5:2 intermittent fasting for two years. It was hard but the weight has more or less stayed off since

MeridaBrave · 06/07/2026 09:29

It’s not possible to have a BMI of 38 by “eating well”. Clearly eating too much. Why don’t you want to do injections, and why posting on WLI board.

Thankyou for all the replies.

Apologies, I completely missed the bit where I was posting in weightloss jabs.
I hope I haven't offended anyone, apologies if I have.

I have absolutely no issue with people using the jabs- I know several friends that have- they look amazing!
I'm just 'scared', I will become ill (Ive only read one article where someone had complications and warned against!)

I absolutely agree, I am definitely not realising how much I do eat! Total denial!!
The only exercise I do, is walking the dog!

I think I'm also worried about loose skin-

This is actually what is mostly putting me off the jabs tbh.

I really appreciate all the replies- thank you

Have you ever looked at the side effects on a packet of paracetamol? It’s unlikely that ibuprofen would even be licensed these days due to the cardiac issues associated with that group of drugs.

All drugs have potential side effects. For most people, taking WL medication appropriately and not racing to achieve rapid weight loss is a safe option with minimal side effects. It’s your decision, but objectively, the risks from your BMI are probably higher than those from medically supervised weight loss.

The jabs are life changing. Don’t waste more time dithering. Just do it!!!
I’ve lost over 4 stones so far with one more to go.

Living my best life in my 60’s! 😁

Wickedlittledancer · 06/07/2026 11:50

Op, your posts are muddled. Why would you be worried about lose skin on the jabs but not off, it’s weight loss that causes loose skin, not the medication, surely you must realise this ?

and exercise isn’t key to losing weight, you can’t outrun a bad diet, no matter how healthy your diet is, you’re consuming to excess.

Fingerscrossed22 · 06/07/2026 13:48

Sorry, I haven't explained the loose skin " bit well.
I know the jabs wont be the cause for loose skin.
What I mean is, Im worried about the amount I'd have following weight loss- I know this will happen regardless of 'how' I loose weight.
I've always been incredibly self conscious of my existing loose skin, and just wary this will look even worse .
The benefits of weight loss/healthier overall definitely outweighs the possible loose skin , its just something that already drags me down.

OP, if you really are at rock bottom then do MJ or WG. They are incredibly effective and you will be a few stone lighter in a matter of months.

They are incredibly safe, and far safer health wise than staying at your current weight.

Also, the longer you delay losing weight the looser your skin will become.

These really are miracle drugs that are designed for people exactly like you. If it’s affordable for you, just give it a try for a month.

Fatmumslim01 · 06/07/2026 16:43

I started MJ 15 months ago with a BMI of 39.8 😱

Jabs are the best thing I ever did for my health.

I tried for years and I do mean about 20 years to lose weight but it never worked but mj fixes the part of my brain that scream at me to eat and now I just feel "normal". I'm experiencing satiety and fullness for the first time in my life.

I've lost 5 stone and my BMI is now 26, I'd like another stone off which would take me to around BMI 25.

Absolutely life changing!

MotherTuckinGenius · 06/07/2026 16:59

I’m over 7 stones down using the jabs and been maintaining six months by microdosing . If you really don’t fancy that route and money isn’t an issue what about trying something like Jane Plan where all your meals are delivered to you in convenient calorie counted portions? Best of luck with whatever you decide to do 💐

@Fingerscrossed22 I’ve attached a couple of pics, one showing that yes, after 10 stone loss I do have a belly like a melted candle. The other showing that how I started and what my shape looks like with clothes on now.

Thank you all-
Your posts have really given me 'food for thought', no pun intended!
I will be doing more research but the poster who mentioned just trying a couple of months' , is what I would likely do to start.

grinandslothit · 07/07/2026 18:59

Just trying it for a couple months was how I started because I thought if it makes me terribly unwell I can just stop. But here it is 7 months later and I have lost weight and I haven't been ill from the injections at all.

@MeridaBrave , goodness what an unhelpful comment! It absolutely is possible to eat ‘healthily’ but have a high BMI. What was the purpose of your comment? I believe there is a well worn adage that if you don’t have anything ‘nice’ to say, say nothing at all. People ask for help and kind and nice people try to help them. Your contribution, not kind , not helpful, not nice at all! 😡

LovesLabradors · 07/07/2026 23:32

Ideally you should combine exercise with MJ - esp muscle strengthening exercises/weight training.
My weight had crept up over the last 10-15 years - up, down, up up up, down a bit, up up - until I reached BMI of 34 or 36 . I was really scared of WLI and put it off for 2 years - but I did start them a year ago. I wish I hadn't delayed so long! Honestly I've never looked back. I'm now a healthy BMI again at 55yrs and that is something I never thought possible. I am just so so happy. I have more energy, I'm healthier - and honestly, looking back at old photos, I had no idea how big I had got.
It's not just that it takes the pain out of dieting - it redefines your relationship with food - I still have 'treats' - but I have the mindset to think of food as fuel now, and it has completely eliminated the oblivious over-eating that led to my weight gain.

The OP said she was “eating well”. But clearly something not right if has a BMI of 38. I saw this as a cognitive dissonance. If you ask on here for advice then it’s reasonable to call this out. Why not say - I’m eating healthy food but not in control of portion size?

lovethepuppies · 08/07/2026 12:20

I’ve lost 12stone 7lb when I was on the jabs and I’ve kept it off for over a year now. They broke the cycle of snacking for me and saved my life. I won’t give diet advice other than to say everyone eats much more than their bodies need, and it took the jabs to figure that out .
rock bottom was exactly where I was three years ago and I don’t envy you , you feel so shit and angry with yourself, and it’s a dark place to be. Can I ask why you don’t feel the jabs are for you ? I dosed low and slow and had no side effects other than tremendous weight loss. Hope you start to feel better soon, no matter how you try and lose it
