Should I take a break from Wegovy for my holiday?

Just that really? Am doing really well in Wegovy, taking it slowly and am now on 2.4mg. Have lost 2.5 stones and would like to get to 3, although to get to my proper target weight I would probably have to lose another couple! Started at 16 stone, now 13, 6. I feel good at this weight and am a size 16 now rather than a 20-22.

however sometimes during the week I experience diahorrea or vomiting. Not always, not often but I would hate to have this on holiday. I usually maintain or even lose weight on holiday as I am swimming, walking and generally eating less due to the heat! I find I don’t want to snack on holiday (this is pre wli). Last holiday (Easter) I just delayed my jab for when I returned and it worked really well.

This is really long winded, sorry! Should I just stop my injections next week for a couple of weeks or take my pen and just give smaller injections? I don’t want to balloon up to the weight I was before and am looking forward to feeling better in the heat as I’m not lugging all that extra weight with me! When away I will most likely eat fruit and Greek yoghurt for breakfast, then have fish, seafood or chicken souvlaki and salads for most of my meals with wine (of course but I drink that now!) and a ton more water than I normally have.
anyone got any advice? I know we are all different and what works for one doesn’t work for others but hearing of other people’s experiences might help me decide!
edited for an abundance of typos…

From my POV the WLI are a tool to help me adjust to a new way of living and eating. So I definitely won't be stopping for the holiday as I want to keep going with the good habits. I would be worried about not getting back into it.

I’m planning to stop for my holiday. WLI injections make food - even food I really like - really fucking boring, and I’d like to be able to actually enjoy it.

Honestly just do whatever feels right for you, other people’s experience are not relevant to you.

FWIW I don’t ever take a break from my injections (Mounjaro) and I have no problem enjoying food on holiday, just in smaller quantities than I would have before.

If you are regularly getting gastric side effects, is the dose that you’re on too high?

jocktamsonsbairn · 21/06/2026 11:42

I don’t always or often get gastric side effects and I have moved up the doses slowly to try and make it easier, but it does still sometimes happen. I do still enjoy my food but I was just concerned about the possibility of getting the runs or nausea on holiday because of the injections. But I could just take Imodium with me and if it happens counteract it with that?! Such a quandary!! I’ll be travelling about as well in the heat (Island hopping) so there’s the added faff of keeping it cold! Dilemmas, dilemmas!!

Taking immodium is a good idea. Also one of those frio bags that have been suggested on lots of threads about taking the pens on holiday.

For me this is a life time change so stopping to go on holiday seems contradictory. If you’ve gastro issues occassionally it would be likely linked to whay you consume rather than th4 drugs.

id continue but if you think your diet will cause issues then maybe take a reduced dose.
