Stopping Wegovy prior to surgery

How long before having an operation (gynae) under GA did you stop taking GLP1’s? I am on Wegovy 1mg.

I agree, but my pre op is 5 days before my operation. Thinking I will stop 3 weeks before to be on the safe side.

From what I have read recently typical guidance is 1-2 weeks.

i can also add that I had emergency surgery recently so didn’t get chance to stop (surgery was on day 5). I made sure anaesthetist knew and I had already been nil by mouth for over 24 hours in any case and hadn’t eaten for over 15 hours prior to admission. Effectively they treat you as having a full stomach and take precautions against you aspirating vomit… so it shouldn’t cause too many issues.

I would say as your pre op is only 5 days ahead, phone the department and ask - 3 weeks is probably unnecessary but you don’t want to get rescheduled and delayed.

I'm on mounjaro had gynae surgery recently and was asked to miss my dose the week before which meant it was 13 days between my last injection and the surgery.

I think its quite common nowadays so they are used to dealing with it. Just make sure you tell the anaesthetist.
