How many clicks in MJ pen?

It’s the old one with the golden dose still. I know 240 clicks is 4 x full dose but curious how many ‘extra’ clicks they have for priming.

Well, it has to be at least 8 as the instructions say to prime by turning to the second line for each of the 4 doses, so 2 x 4. Then, repeating if necessary, so that would be 16 clicks, and again if you have to change needles after that, so 24 maybe?

I've just logged clicks and doses for a whole pen, imcl remaining fluid and it worked out to be 315 clicks or 52.5mg in my 10mg pen! I used my pen for 2 months, 9 doses. The remaining fluid is always more than a full dose in the old pens. FYI I don't prime, but a few drops would have been lost when the needle goes on. Also the last dose I removed with a syringe.

I click count from a 5mg pen. I’ve got between 308 and 328 clicks/units.

11 doses is the most I have got from one - only on 2.5mg and now in maintenance.

In my experience, about 256 actual clicks until the pen locks up and you have to break the mechanism or use a syringe for the remaining medication.

Ignore the bot…. It’s very straightforward to work out how much medication each click is. 1 click is 0.01ml of medication. No guesswork needed, just some very simple maths.

I was trying to work out of if I could take an extra few clicks with each dose while I work up from 5mg to 7.5mg. It seems there is no logic.

I wouldn't rely on clicks at all. It's not accurate. I use an insulin needle if I want to inject any more than one dose then you can calculate it properly. I made a mistake once, overdosed myself and couldn't eat any food for a week - not anything. Please be careful.

I also don't know what the issue could possibly be with clicks. Each click is 0.01ml of medication, hence 60 for a full dose.

It would be easy to work up from 5mg to 7.5mg by doing different amount of clicks from a 7.5mg pen. 40 clicks would be 5mg from a 7.5mg pen, and then you could move up by however many clicks you wanted each time to work up to 60 for the full 7.5mg.

That’s the opposite of what I’m asking. I am using 5mg pens so need to take extra over and above the 60 clicks full dose.

I'd just go ahead and do it, add on a second injection after doing the full normal dose to add on however many clicks you want to add. You would end up using the pen up quicker, of course. I would use an insulin syringe to extract the leftover medication too.

If a drop of medication appears on the end of the needle when attaching it, I don't tend to prime the pen, and I tend to use 1 click to prime if I can. That maximises what is left after 4 full doses.

You would have to take a full dose, take pen out, then do extra clicks and re-inject to do it this way. And really that means you should use a fresh needle but I’ve done this without changing needle a few times.
The better way to do it if you don’t want to extract with a syringe is to move up a dose, and take less clicks so you can safely and easily move from current dose to the new dose incrementally.

I never jumped from 2.5 to 5 to 7.5 etc. I started on half a dose with 30 clicks and went up in 1/4 or 1/2 doses. I didn’t have any side affects.

The is I knew how to do it I just wondered how many clicks were in the pen, roughly, so I could do the math and work out how many weeks etc. it’s sorted now, I have got up to 7mg and will be moving to a 7.5mg pen next week. I still have a 5mg but I’m going to save it for when I move back down hopefully in 8 weeks time.
