Anyone get severe stomach cramps after eating too much on Mounjaro?

I’ve been on it for about a year but am on holiday and want to enjoy eating so skipped my last dose, so my most recent dose was about 9 days ago. I thought my appetite was back as I felt pretty hungry tonight, but after eating a medium-large portion of pasta plus quite a lot of fizzy drinks, I’m having the worst stomach cramps. The really intense kind you often get just before diarrhoea, but I don’t have diarrhoea. I’m not used to eating such a large portion, so I think it might be that combined with the fact MJ slows digestion. I just feel so uncomfortably full, sick and keep having waves of these incredible painful cramps. Anyone else get this and think MJ is the culprit?

:( I feel for you. I've had this a couple of times and it really scares me off eating! I had to drink some boiled water and get a hot water bottle to help the cramps last time. I'm going away this summer and have to miss a dose whilst i'm there, a gap of 11 days, hope I can limit myself 😅 hope you feel better soon. Have you got any pepto bismol?

Yes I had this recently out of the blue after a heavy meal. I think I ate more than I’d be doing recently. The pain wasn’t high up so not gallbladder but just sore guts!

Fizzy drinks, especially diet ones, do cause me problems, like some form of bloating but more intense. I can do sparkling water with no issues though.

I think our stomachs aren't just comfortable with larger portions or heavy food anymore. I definitely have issues with larger pasta meals now.

I normally manage with either peppermint tea or lemon and ginger tea (that is my go-to tea outside black tea anyway).

When I had gallbladder pain pre-removal I wouldn't say it was high up. Was definitely severe pain in my abdomen just below my ribs and in my lower abdomen and in my back.

I think the MJ is trying to tell you that you can never eat the huge portions that you used to enjoy, otherwise you’ll undo all your good work. At least, that’s what I’ve learned so far. 😂

My DH is tall and skinny and has always eaten like a sparrow so I try and copy his portion sizes and not try and finish the leftovers, but I still feel guilty throwing away food. 😩

Yes I’ve had this twice now recently after being on Mounjaro for a year. It only hit in at 12.5mg. It’s ghastly when it happens and feels like severe food poisoning. Awful cramps that build in pain, then evacuating with both vomiting and diarrhoea then it’s over.

I’ve reduced down to 7.5 for two weeks and next week will go up to 10mg. Am going on holiday in. 5 weeks and thinking I should stay on 10mg until end of holiday and be wary of overeating.

Trapped wind and too much pasta and fiz, was always going to see you have this, it will be fine.
