Ravenous since stopping Wegovy 😞

Well, the hunger is just relentless. I am so extremely hungry and can't seem to get control since stopping Wegovy. I fear I'm going to have to go back on it because my clothes are getting tighter by the day. I daren't weigh myself. Please reassure me it's not just me? What did/do you do?

Why did you stop - did you get it through the NHS and run out of time?

GLP-1s are like statins or antidepressants. They work while you’re taking them. Once you stop, the issue re-emerges…

Beachwalker66 · 19/04/2026 14:03

Why did you stop taking your medication?

dailyconniptions · 19/04/2026 14:03

I stopped because of affordability and the fact that I started to have a wobble about what I was putting into myself. Been on it a year and a half. Online pharmacy. Got (had) a couple of stone still to go. Lost about 2.5 stone.

The hunger is even worse than before I took anything. It's almost insatiable.

Don’t be afraid of going back on to a medication that worked for you.

What is it about Wegovy that made you feel worried about taking it as a medication when it was working for you?

What do you eat? How long has it been?

I had this hunger on many diets. Eat protein until the cows come home. Chicken breast. Tuna. See if it settles after a while.

MeridaBrave · 19/04/2026 14:06

How much protein and fibre are you having? I’d ensure 30g fibre AND 120g of protein. Try a protein shake (choose one without much fat or carbs) and see how hunger is after 30 mins. Cut out all high GI carbs, as they cause glucose spike and hunger. Can you post what you eat in a day??

StillnessStill · 19/04/2026 14:07

No advice but just to say that sounds so hard and a seemingly tough choice between going back on or just doing what your body wants to do.

It was the occasional sulphur burps which were beyond hideous and a general wish to avoid any medication. I think I'll have to carry on with it. I need to remind myself that's it's healthier to be slimmer and eating less sugar. I do try to eat plenty of protein and fibre but I absolutely crave food in general, particularly sweet things.

I promise you it won't be worse. I promise. It'll just feel worse because you've been so used to not feeling hungry.

Fill yourself up with drinks. I find it helpful to eat crushed ice with a bit of calorie free cordial mixed in. Like a slushy kind of thing. As others have said, lots of protein in your meals. You should find that it settles, but it probably will feel quite uncomfortable for a little while.

Recommend drinking clear whey protein with blended ice. I make it up more dilute than recommend

I found this when I came off Mounjaro. I’d forgotten quite how bad things were pre-WLI and foolishly thought I could cope. I’d forgotten that it was literal physical hunger rather than “just” cravings I could fight (not that I can fight those either!).

The only thing that’s working for me is going back on the injections.

QueefQueen80s · 19/04/2026 15:04

Most of us will be on it for life, only a small number will manage without it because we love food, sugar, emotionally eat etc
I’m missing out on other things to be able to keep affording it but it’s worth it to me

Velvetandleather · 19/04/2026 16:45

It’s not worse you just forgot what it was like as you’ve been on 18 months.

iys very very slow weight loss though , I think it works out at 2 lbs a month, so you must have been eating just below maintenance on it. A defecit of a couple of hundred cals a day. So to maintain you have to eat as you were with a small increase of a couple of hundred extra.

SDV29 · 19/04/2026 16:50

How long have you been off it? I went from 1 to 0.25 3 weeks ago. First week I was starving and put on two pounds. Since then I’m hungry in a morning but don’t want to eat after lunch so I’ve STS.

Yes, I wanted to lose it very slowly, but for about the last 5 months, I stayed at the same weight.

Then you were eating to maintence the last 5 months, and that’s how you need to continue to eat.

were you not actively dieting and counting your cals then? Is maybe your heart just not in it?

cupfinalchaos · 19/04/2026 17:31

Op can I ask what dose you were on? Must have missed it if you’ve mentioned. I’ve just come off Munjaro 2.5mg and trying to keep to two good sized meals a day and no snacking. Already put on 2lbs.
