What did you buy when you reached goalweight? What will you be buying?

Having just reached goal weight (I've lost a whopping 4.8st) I want to have look at my wardrobe. I've obviously had to buy bits and pieces as I've gone along but I've been big for so long now I have no idea what's in fashion or what suits me.

Just wondering what other people have treated themselves to upon reaching their goal / what people will be wearing when they get there. Is there anything you hanker after but couldn't wear when larger?

I'm short so lots seem to be out immediately (maxi dresses, baggy jeans and trousers?) but I'm still dressing in my "fat uniform" - Leggings, long line vest and a jumper / top over? Albeit leggings are now a S / 12 and not an XL /18.

Purposely didn't put this in S&B as I wanted the thoughts of people who may not yet be totally used to being thinner.

I had to buy a whole new wardrobe as mine consisted of leggings and baggy T-shirts that were 4 sizes too big. I bought from SHEIN, as I needed a new style and couldn’t see anything in the shops I liked. The stuff has been amazing. I think I’ve spent about £250 and I have soo many options.

I’m not at goal weight but I’m no longer in the obese category & now very happy to be merely overweight 😁

I spent years wearing black & mostly just anything plain that fitted me but I’m more drawn to colour & pattern now. I’ve just ordered a Muse band t-shirt & a really pretty summer dress from M&Co but not sure if the fabric will be nice or not. We’re off to Greece in the summer so blue & white feels right.

I like that dress a lot, @PhantomErik let us know what the fabric is like please! I've never ordered from them before.

I’ve got 5 pairs of jeans!! Even white ones and I love them all. Makes me so happy that they all fit now. Well done on your weight loss

Finally got an eternity ring. It never seemed like a good idea before as I was always going to lose weight (finally did!)

I've reached an interim goal and treated myself to some wide, high waisted linen blend trousers and a few fitted tops. After years of wearing leggings and big t shirts it feels refreshing to reverse the proportions

I’ve lost 5st now, and have been gradually replacing my wardrobe. I’ve re-discovered shirts/blouses! Love that they now fall/drape like they should, no gapping between buttons, no tightness around the upper arms etc.
I also love trying shapes I avoided when I was overweight, like wide-leg or barrel-shaped trousers.

God so much, I’m going to have to start selling some of it back. Issue is I love it all. Much from vinted as well.

my style has changed a lot, I find I can wear loser styles and they look like they do on the models, I’m just under five 7 and a size 8.

ive long legs and a short body and my legs are very slim, as I spend a lot of time in the gym, so wide leg suits me now, as I’ve a flat tummy, it sort of balances me, and I love a maxi dress, with a wide skirt.

I can’t get my head round what I was thinking before, I used to wear lots of form fitting clothes, thinking it held me in, and streamlined me I guess, and baggy clothes made me look bigger, now my clothes are loser and fit properly

i also used to wear a lot of black and think it suited me. It doesn’t, it washes me out, now I wear lots of pale colours, cream, beige, nude pinks, with olive green, navy etc, never black.

so I’ve moved from black stretchy form fitting, to pale, looser, slouchy jumpers, wide leg trousers and jeans, midi dresses, fitted jackets or blazers, fitted tops, and a lot of sleeveless tanks.

I am fairly sure I’m permanently over dressed, as I wear really lovely stuff every day, so I’m often to be found working from home in a me and em dress, or Reiss trousers and silk tank for example.

I love getting ready in the morning, shower, apply some lovely body lotion, do my hair and make up, and then find a gorgeous outfit and wear it for the day, I’m happy to go on video calls with no notice, where as I used to make excuses and keep my camera off.

my husband often raises an eyebrow and says things like that’s a lovely dress, and I’m like yup! 😂

PearlsTeapot Unfortunately the previous dress fabric (viscose) was disappointing & without trying to sound snobby, it felt very cheap.

However, I found an another dress in Matalan that looks much nicer in person than online & feels lovely. Very soft & lightweight and it’s also viscose. DD17 says it suits me much more & looks very elegant so that’s coming on holiday with me (as is DD 😁).
