Celebrating 100lb weight loss and adjusting to the changes at 62

Today I am celebrating loosing 100lbs
actually it’s 101 - I haven’t weighed for a few days and missed the 100 marker
so thats 3 cinder blocks 🧱 or a German shepherd 😂
I am amazed at the difference in myself - some days I really don’t see the difference until I sort through old clothes or see a photo that pops up in memories on my phone. Does anyone else experience this?
For context I started at 130kg in May 25 and I am currently 84.5kg - I have gone from a very snug size 22 to a comfortable size 14. I will keep plodding on and try to get to 70kg which will be just in the healthy bmi range for me. I’m 62 and don’t feel I can go much lower as I think I would really just be fighting my body for the sake of it without it benefiting my health, does anyone else in a similar age bracket feel the same ?

Similar age to you and a mahoosive 5 foot tall!!!
I started last May and have reached my initial goal weight of 9stone 6lbs. Size 12 -14.
My BMI is overweight but I've decided not to push it much lower.
I feel good and am told I look good .
I will settle for that.

Wowee! You've done incredibly well! What are your best NSVs? How do you feel now?

I'm nearly 50, and I've lost just over 3 stone. I'm nearly at goal now. I'd like to lose another half stone. It's going very slowly now, about half a pound a week, but I'm fine with that. I definitely relate to finding it difficult to see the difference! I've gone from a size 16/18 to a 12/14. I'm pretty tall, and happy with that, although I'd like to tone up a bit more!

Well done @Popcornandbeetroot! I’m 62 too, I’ve lost 81Lbs going from a BMI of 35 to 20.5. My initial goal was to get to a BMI of just under 25 but I got there and just kept going, I’m really short at only 5’1” and extra weight really shows on me. I’m trying to come back down the doses now and am hoping I can get to 5mg, we’ll see where my weight settles, I’d be happy to put a bit on if it were muscle but not fat. My husband is selling all my fat clothes on Vinted and I am loving buying things which I like not just because I think they will disguise my ballooned body.

MrsTigerface · 01/04/2026 17:19

Congratulations and very well done, @Popcornandbeetroot. You must feel incredible. You’re an inspiration.

I am nearly 61 and also wondering how low I can go, weight wise. In my early 40s I got down to 138lb and stayed there for quite a few years and loved it. I have been wanting to get back there (currently 155) but it struck me the other day that that particular weight might not suit me now I am older. So I do wonder if I need to go that low…and completely agree with your point about fighting your body when the extra few pounds lost won’t necessarily benefit your health. So I think at the moment I am thinking of at least another 10lb and then review.

Wonderful! I'm really pleased for you.

I am at 99lb and my life is completely different now. I’m younger (40) but had no mobility.

Well done on your weight loss journey, I bet you feel amazing. I am happy to stay in the overweight category and just want to maintain my losses and increase my fitness levels now 😊

Well done :)

I'm v similar, started July 24 at 19 stone and a size 22/24. Now 11 stone and size 12. I've got about four pounds to lose before I'm a healthy weight but I'm pretty comfortable around this weight.

I feel great but yes I know what you mean, I saw an old photo of myself the other day and it was a bit of a shock comparing it to a current one!

It's totally changed my life though and I'm much happier. And I'm just about to go out for a run. Never thought I'd say that before 😄

Aww thank you, one NSV happened last weekend when I gave the garden chairs a scrub ready for summer and realised I can sit in them this year without getting my bum stuck in them 😂
well done on your weight loss journey, hope you have a lovely summer, I am looking forward to it this year instead of dreading the heat 👏🏻👏🏻

Well done @Popcornandbeetroot I am 57 and have also lost over 100lb (136lbs 🤯) and I decided to stop at BMI 24.6 and I have maintained there (with Mounjaro, for 3 months).

I wanted to hit that "healthy" milestone just to see what I looked like when I got there, but I was also bearing in mind that I have a lot some loose skin and my functional weight is probably several lbs less.

At 5ft 8in I am happy with my BMI 24.6 and comfortable size 14 jeans. Less happy with my jiggly skin, but you can't have everything!

Wow that’s amazing, you must feel fantastic, I am a bit taller 5ft 6 and seem to have ended up more pear shaped than I used to be but hopefully it will eventually even out. The new clothes bit is nice, especially thinking about style rather than fit and disguise 😊👏🏻👏🏻

Wow that’s a fantastic achievement, well done, it’s hard sometimes becoming comfortable with new ways of thinking and living, I feel grateful to a medication that has finally given me the freedom to live healthy and peacefully in my own body, and to enjoy movement and exercise without pain or exhaustion 😊
Enjoy your run 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Wow that is a mind blowing achievement, I bet you feel fantastic, I too have some wobbly areas but I will take that any day because the discomfort and health problems I had previously were really starting overwhelm my life. Well done on maintaining, that is going to be my future challenge 😊

Wow that’s an amazing loss, you must feel fantastic, I wish I had been younger when this medication became available but so glad I started when I did, it’s a new lease of life isn’t it? 😊
