I'm very happy with ancient and brave and incite biotin, both available from Amazon. I lost weight very quickly so I think I was going to lose hair whatever I did but after shedding its stopped and I have lots of new growth and hair (and nails) seem stronger.

Thanks I’ll have a look at this one

I like Revive multi collagen powder, also from Amazon, but I'm 58 and primarily want collagen for skin and joint health, rather than hair loss specifically. Different types of collagen (types I-IV) are needed by different body systems and the above collagen has helped both mine (tendon injury) and my DH's (arthritis) joint problems and my skin looks good.

I'm still trying out different biotins and haven't yet found one that makes a difference to me.

How much collagen powder do you take a day @Plot30B ? Do you just stir it in a drink?

I use this one from a recommendation on here a while ago. It seems good, I feel better but have implemented various changes so I don’t know which has actually worked 🤦🏻‍♀️. It contains biotin and various other bits so I feel like I’m getting a reasonable deal. I end up not having it every day (if I’m super busy or away). I have a scoop in a cup of coffee and can’t taste it but the coffee is slightly thicker I think. I sometimes mix it into a bowl of Greek yoghurt with some vanilla protein powder.

Thanks everyone for the recommendations, I’ll have a look. Praying that it helps my skin and stops my hair from falling out.

I started with 10g then increased to 20g and occasionally take more if I remember. I think the recommendation is up to 40g, but it's best to start off slowly to allow your digestive system to get used to it. Collagen can apparently cause slight gastrointestinal issues in some people. I mix it into lattes and protein shakes and find it just adds creaminess. I really enjoy it.

Collagen is a bit of a weird supplement, we break it down into it's component amino acids to digest it, so in theory supplementing with it shouldn't give any benefits, but several well-conducted clinical trials have demonstrated clear physical benefits from collagen supplementation. Try to ensure that you at least get types I and III as those are the types that have shown the clearest benefits to hair health.

From my admittedly limited and definitely non-clinical perspective, I've heard/read that Biotin deficiency is pretty rare and hairloss might have more to do with lack of iron, or zinc or vitamin B12. A good multivitamin and plenty of protein each day might be more helpful than biotin. Also, use hair products with arginine as it helps prevent premature shedding.

I use nutrition geeks collagen glow up and biotin growth. They seem effective.
