Using 5mg weight loss injection pen to take 2.5mg doses

I've found that 2.5mg works fine for me to maintain my weight loss. I want to keep in it for a couple more months before hopefully coming off it all together. Has anyone used a 5mg pen, but just take half doses (30, clicks) to get 2.5mg? It works out way cheaper to do it like this, so it's something I want to try!

Yes many people do this. The issue is that you would be using the pen well past the 30 day usage guideline, as you’d get 8 doses from the pen. That would mean 3 doses would be beyond the 30 days. It’s obviously your decision as to whether you’re ok with that.

The other issue is that pharmacies may notice any long gap in ordering and either refuse to prescribe or ask that you go back to a 2.5mg pen.

Ah, yes - hadn't factored in the 30 day thing. Thank you. Will have a think 🙏

I've done exactly this and it was fine

I do this. I’m on my second 5mg pen using it this way. I’ve used the 30 day thing to create a mini stock of pens so I have two unused pens in hand now. I’m going to do that once more so I have enough to see me through to the end of the Summer.

Having to go back to a 2.5mg pen would be ok though as OP is taking that dose anyway, so it would not affect her treatment.

Yes, I realise that, but it would defeat her object of saving money… at least for that one order before being able to order another 5mg.
