Pennydoenstwhistle · 13/03/2026 07:14

I so wanted just to be in the overweight category for my bmi 😬
I started my journey at 17st and 8lbs and today I am 13 st 8 lbs .
I started in May and it’s be a slower journey for me but I am happy with that .
For anyone thinking of starting I would say yes, do it, I wish I had started sooner.
I lurk a lot on this site and have gained so much knowledge from it so thank you all 💕

Good going. Hopefully not long til you're just overweight.

SparklyGlitterballs · 13/03/2026 07:33

You're looking at the negative instead of the positive. You're far less obese now than you were when you started, and very close now to moving down to overweight. Look at what you've achieved and celebrate it OP. Keep up your good work. It doesn't matter how long it takes, the fact you're getting there is what's important.

CelticSilver · 13/03/2026 08:59

I once lost 13st in a year and was still obese. That stung! Keep going, focus on how much better you're feeling rather than numbers 🙂

DisplayPurposesOnly · 13/03/2026 09:00

You're doing really well! Keep going 💪

ChirpyAmberLion · 13/03/2026 09:09

Well done OP, that’s fab!!

My weight was around the same as yours and I started my WLI journey in Jan this year. I’m 1st 2lbs down so far and whilst currently plateauing you’ve given me hope 🙏

I’ll never be in the ‘healthy’ BMI range, never have been. I’ll be more than happy to be steady in the ‘overweight’ range, however long that may take.

Keep going you doing great 👍

Isobel201 · 13/03/2026 09:29

I've only managed to lose 2.5 stone in the whole of 2025 on Mounjaro, but its 2.5 stone I'm determined not to put back on again. I don't really think about the BMI too much tbh.

TheSlimmingPumpkin · 13/03/2026 10:17

Don’t give up @Pennydoenstwhistle ! I went from morbidly obese with a BMI of 41.4 to almost a BMI of 25. For me that is 6stone 2lb loss and I have still a bit to go for fall into the healthy range.

Are you on the more than 5 stone or more than 10 stone chats threads? Lots of support on those in similar situations. Everyone is on their own journey. I have been on MJ since Nov 24 and still going.

Every pound off is progress, celebrate every half stone and mark every stone as a major achievement.

WeAllHaveWings · 13/03/2026 15:16

With 4st loss you will have come down from possibly Class III - morbidly obese (BMI >40), to Class II - severely obese (BMI > 35) to "just" Class I - obese (BMI > 30)! Each of those were well deserved milestones to celebrate and with every stone lost you are healthier! Give yourself a big pat on the back. 🎉👏

I've been on this almost year longer than you have so far, long journeys are normal with a lot to lose!

It took me 7st 2lb loss to get to the "only" overweight BMI and 9st 8lbs loss to get to normal. Be patient you will get there, losses do naturally slow down, but, boy, do they feel even slower the closer you get to it! (33 weeks between overweight and reaching normal)

Pennydoenstwhistle · 13/03/2026 20:50

@MoneyJo, thanks ☺️

It sounds like you're doing brilliantly. You must look incredibly different even if you don't realise it. The advantages of not dropping weight at a faster rate is that it can give your skin some time to adjust so less sagging and loose skin. Also helps prevent excessive muscle loss. Keep going!

Pennydoenstwhistle · 13/03/2026 21:13

@Marylou2 Thankyou, I hadn’t really thought of it that way 😊

I’ve lost 5 stone and still haven’t hit overweight yet, but I’m getting close 😆
I’ll be delighted when I do!

Pennydoenstwhistle · 13/03/2026 21:35

@DottyMcDiet Well done in your loss!
It’s being so close to the next bracket that is sooo frustrating 😂

Hey I’m with you. I started in May too, have lost the same amount but have just dropped out of the obese category and into the overweight category this week. But I feel good and actually think I look ok. Keep plodding onwards..

Pennydoenstwhistle · 13/03/2026 21:52

@GingercarThanks, plodding is a good word , I am happy to plod on and look forward to when I just overweight too 😀

Gingercar · 13/03/2026 21:54

I just keep thinking that if you told me this time last year that I could be over 4 stones lighter in a year’s time I would have been estatic.

Pennydoenstwhistle · 13/03/2026 22:18

@Gingercar That’s very true 😊
I am happy with my weight loss but it’s frustrating to be so close to being just overweight and not obese 🤣

I know! Are you far off? BMI is a bit strange- I’ve got two stones to go to get to the healthy range, but I think I might actually look too thin by then. If I get to a size 10-12 I’d be estatic.

Pennydoenstwhistle · 13/03/2026 23:39

@Gingercar I am soo close to being overweight!!
Like you I don’t really want to be too too thin but overweight on the lower end of it would suit me fine, I would need to lose another 2 stones to get there 🙂🤣

PinkArt · 13/03/2026 23:45

You must be a similar height to me. I finally hit overweight just before Christmas at 13st 8 but it took me 6 stone to get there. I've still got around 2 stone to go before I reach 'healthy'.
We're all running out own races so just keep looking forwards and you'll get there.

Pennydoenstwhistle · 14/03/2026 08:13

@PinkArtWe do sound similar , Well done on you weight loss, Thanks, ☺️

SparklyGlitterballs · 14/03/2026 11:08

I think another way to look at it is you’ve lost FOUR STONES. That’s just over 25 kilo. Imagine 25 bags of sugar in your shopping bag. That’s how much you’re no longer carrying around. It’s a magnificent achievement and you should be so proud. I’ve just started back on the WLI and waiting for the food noise to stop. I can’t wait to be 4 stone down.

Pennydoenstwhistle · 14/03/2026 16:18

@SparklyGlitterballs Thankyou! when it’s said like that it is a large amount!
Good luck to you on your journey , hope the food noise is gone soon 🙂
