Mounjaro anxiety - jab day only

This might be a strange one... I was on mounjaro last year and absolutely fine, no side effects.

I'm 3 weeks in and this time after having a break since last September and on injection day, I'm having massive anxiety after about 3-4 hours of injecting. I didn't get this last time.

I'm wondering why it's happening.

Yesterday I jabbed at 1pm, by 4pm I was massively anxious, palpitations, felt 'funny' but able to carry on my normal day, by about 8pm, I felt ok. I'd had some toast and a sugary tea ( as I was wondering if it was low blood sugar ) I did feel better after this and woke up this morning absolutely fine.

It seems to just affect me on jab days, and then the following day I'm fine. Now i' starting to worry that being anxious about jab day is making the anxiety worse.

Any advise?

I was wondering about micro dosing. I'm only on 2.5mg so could do 30 clicks instead of 60. Does anyone think this may help or do I just carry on and see what happens.

Could you jab right before bed to see if you sleep through the symptoms?

Kelim · 05/03/2026 11:33

Could be low blood sugar. That often causes anxiety. Try having a small glass of orange juice and if you feel better, it's a possibility.

A lot of pharmacies do free diabetes checks, so pop in and see if you can get one. If not, get one at the doctors. Better safe than sorry.

I used to feel odd if I didn't eat straight after my jab (not talking a banquet, just a piece of toast or something)

I would jab before bed and see how you get on that way.

Me too.. exactly same as you.. fine first time around. ..had a break.. awful second time around.. l got the feeling all day.. then ld jab..and still feel the same.. sick and anxious and panicky... l was adviced to jab early morning so not thinking about it all day.. then have a slice of wholemeal toast and a cuppa... it's better .. not 100% but better

Similar experience here had a 2 month break after being on it 9 months with no issues

no issues at 2.5 then went up to 5mg and really bad enxiety for 3 weeks (although I lost all weight I had gained on the 2 month break)

dropped down to 2.5 mg alternate weeks but started gaining so did 3.75 mg last week and going up 5mg again today, hopefully body now is getting used to it and enxiety dosnt return as was only loosing the gain after going to 5mg

Sorry to hear you’ve got bad anxiety. This is a known side effect, and there’s lots of posts on Reddit/fb. I’ve found that when I go up a dose, the first few weeks are the absolute worst for it (it does tend to settle after a month). As someone else said, try and jab earlier in the day so you can eat something, and those dextrose glucose tablets are brilliant too. It could be a dip in your sugar levels, but anxiety can be randomly triggered by mj annoyingly! X

I don't think I could jab and then go straight to bed, I'm not sure i'd be able to sleep worrying! Completely unreasonable I know!

I do tend to jab around lunch time so I have time to get up, eat, and then let it digest in time for my jab!

I don't even know why it makes me so anxious! Like physically light headed and anxious, completely regretting my choices in that moment 😂

Just wanted to update for anyone else suffering with jab anxiety... I skipped two weeks as I just wasn't in a place where I could pluck up the courage after how I felt.

I bit the bullet though and jabbed this week, but 1.25mg of my 2.5mg dose!

No anxiety and still got a decent suppression! I know everyone doesn't agree with micro dosing and its often frowned upon but I think this may be the way forward for me!

I did similar to you , did 5mg 3 weeks with anxiety then did 2.5mg every 2 weeks for a month back up to 5mg for 4 weeks and now on 7.5mg no anxiety . Strange how different MJ is on second round
