For those who stayed on 2.5mg (at least for an extended time) success?

I’ve only been on mournjaro for 3 weeks (4 injections done), I found the side effects quite strong, I lost 2lb first week, 3lb second, and 1lb this week. I’ve decided to stay on 2.5mg as the side effects and hunger suppression were strong right up to the weekend. But typically the last couple of days the food noise has come crashing back (injected today) so I’m worried I’ve plateaued and delayed myself starting 5mg.

Im just curious if people stayed on 2.5mg and what your weight loss looked like? Talk me down regretting changing my dose basically 😂

I stayed on 2.5 for all my weight loss and remain on 2.5 for maintenance. I just inject every 12 days or so now.

I lost 2st 10lb to get from BMI 31 to BMI 23.5. I’m really short, which is why my weight loss is relatively low for the change in BMI.I lost it over 5-6 months. The food noise definitely comes back after five or so days, and the suppression is lower. But when I was injecting every week, I continued to lose every week on 2.5, so it was definitely working for me. I did have side effects - tiredness, acid reflux - so didn’t want those to increase by going up to 5, especially as o was continuing to lose.

I also had only ever had 2.5, did this for around 4 months & now I take 2mg / 20-25 clicks of the pen (which is, and has been for a long time a 5mg pen). Been doing this around 4 months. Lost 2 stone in the first 4 months and I’ve maintained it since. Well, I’ve probably lost another 6lb in total in the last 4 months. I plan to do 12 months in total and then come off it. If I start to gain I’d go back to 2mg ish. My BMI was 29, and now it’s 23.

im very happy I didn’t increase and very happy with how it’s worked. My only symptom ever has been fatigue for a couple of days but nothing unmanageable

I started on 2.5mg in September and moved up in November to 3mg from a 5mg pen by counting clicks. Still slowly losing on 3mg and happy to stay there for now.

Some people choose to move up the pen doses every month, usually because they don’t find the suppression is adequate at the lower dose.

However, if you’re already suffering from some side effects on the lower doses, it might be worth moving up in smaller increments by click counting, rather than doubling the dose from 2.5mg to 5mg, when you do decide to move up.

I've been on 2.5 since August and lost 4.5stone so far. It suits me, I still get hungry, I still look forward to eating but I can control myself which I never could before. I have a bit of food noise occasionally but it feels manageable and more realistic to coming off/ keeping the weight off in future.

I started taking Mounjaro in September and stayed on 2.5mg for 4 months and lost 2 stone. I then moved up to 3.3mg and am still happy there. I've been losing weight at an average of 1.6lb per week.

UnimaginableWindBird · 19/02/2026 08:01

Just to add that on this dose I get hungry, enjoy food and sometimes want to eat a whole load of unhealthy crap, but am still able to keep within my calorie limits by using a bit of willpower but in an easy way. I'm hoping that this will make it easier for me to maintain on either a very low dose or to come off the drug altogether for long periods of maintenance.

I stayed on 2.5mg for a year - lost 12 kg (about 2 stone) to get to bmi 22. On this dose I can still eat and drink “normally” (no skipping meals, enjoy a glass of wine) and no side effects

DontKillSteve · 19/02/2026 08:03

I maxxed out at 3.75mg which came with significant side effects initially. Over time I tolerated it but there is no way I would have managed going up. I lost 5 and a half stone. BMI is now 21 and I have weaned to 2.5mg once every 2-3 weeks.

Lovingtheglitter · 19/02/2026 08:08

I am early days in comparison to others I have done 6 jabs at 2.5mg. I have lost 1 stone 5 lbs in that time which I’m happy about. I don’t get any side affects good suppression until day 6 but can control that til jab day rolls around again. I’d like to stay at this level it feels more realistic to how I will have to live once off them but that will be a long while from now as I have a further 5 stones roughly to lose. If I stop losing I will go up but happy on 2.5 right now.

Started end of March last year with a BMI of 39 and have lost 5st 5lb. I went into this determined to change my life and I have.

7lb to goal and then I'll stay on it for a bit then reduce. I doubt I'll be a long term user but we'll see what happens when I get there.
