Is anyone splitting their GLP1 dose and has it helped?

I have been on a GLP1 for 9 months and have responded really well to it, I’ve lost 42 kg, my starting weight was 130kg. The only fly in the ointment was a really annoying side effect called Allodynia which caused my skin to feel incredibly sore for the 2nd to fourth day after injecting. I recently decided to try splitting my dose to twice weekly and my symptom has completely gone, I’m still loosing weight, it’s not really a hassle to do a twice weekly dose and the suppression is still good, food noise still very low. I’ve also noticed my energy levels are better this week 🙂 Just wondering if anyone else out there is dose splitting, what reason made you decide to use your GLP1 differently and if it’s helping you on your GLP1 journey?

That doesn’t make logical sense. You maintain a base level but still get the big increase as it’s not reached its first half life yet. So on the day you inject you’ve double the dose in your system.

The idea is you take half the does 3 or 4 days apart. So if you would use 5mg once a week, then instead you take 2.5mg twice a week. After 3 days the level has dropped significantly - not half, but well on its way on the downward slope. So when you take the second 2.5mg dose after 3 days, the total level is much lower than it would have been if you took 5mg once a week. It never gets that high. Does that make some sense?

Interestingly I had a “come back with us” email from Voy this week offering a lower, fixed monthly price and saying the pen could be spread out over 6 weeks.

I’ve been taking half doses every four days for a few months to see if it helped (hasn’t!). I might actually go back to once a week, see if it changes anything.

Really interesting thread. I'm thinking of moving from 2.5mg to 5mg per week but in the first couple of weeks taking it in two injections across the week, rather than doubling the dose on injection day.

One reason is that Royal Mail screwed up the delivery of my new 5mg pen, so now I'm late for a weekly injection, and my levels are low. I don't want to flood it with a bigger dose.
I feel comfortable with occasional or minor off-label actions, after gathering as much information as i can. All clinical trial evidence is based on groups, not individuals. So there's no guarantee that the label is right for me.

I split mine every 4 days and am taking 4.375 currently (35 clicks from 7.5 pen) every 4 days.

it works well for me. No side effects currently and maintaining easily.

im going to try reducing very slowly but will probably stay with split dosing as I like the more consistent levels and no side effects.
