Weight gain whilst on Mounjaro

Have been on Mounjaro since March 25. Have not lost loads like others but it had been slow and steady. We had loads of holidays last year and I didn’t gain weight whic was a big olus for me. I have been on 5mg for more than 6 months now and it is no longer suppressing my appetite. I am 6kg away from target. My plan was to reach target and then try and microdose or wean off. I think whilst I may lose weight again it I go on 7.5mg, it is a higher mountain to come down. I have actually gained 2kg in the last month. No change in eating habits and I exercise 5x a week. My weakness has been nibbling in healthy and unhealthy crap when watching TV. Previously I would not want to do this due ti suppression. What do you all think? No choice but go up to 7.5mg or find a way to lower my calories?

Yes, I would definitely increase to 7.5

If I’d put on weight I would definitely be going up to a higher dose. But I’m still consciously watching what I’m eating. If you know where you are going wrong could you correct it?

this is fairly contradictory, if you’re doing this you’ve changed your eating habits. I’d go up. No point in this if you’re gaining.

7,5 isn’t high, and you should aim to stay an extra month on your highest dose when you hit goal whilst reverse dieting. So upping cals by a hundred or so a week, till, you hit maintenance then come down to 5.do a month of that min.

id also up cals with protein in the main and focus on body recomp at that stage to rebuild muscle hopefully you’ve been strength training and eating your protein throughout. But the less muscle you have the lower your bmr is, meaning you need much fewer cals to maintain body weight, which is very difficult.

but if you’re gaining just over a pound a week then you’re eating over 500 cals a day more than maintenance. So you need to drop that just to maintain. And then another 500 to lose a pound a week.

What changes are you willing to make?

As you’re a slow loser, if you don’t change your eating habits now, you’ll likely put all the weight back on again fairly quickly after weaning off MJ?

Do you really think you can manage without it or maybe accept that you’ll have to stay on some form of WL Drugs for life?

If you’re putting on weight then it doesn’t matter about what dose you’re on when you get to target because you won’t be getting to your target weight. I’d most definitely move up to 7.5mg and then work on the eating unconsciously when watching TV. You need to get well out of the habit of doing that, for several weeks and months before you start to think about stopping or reducing your dose. It needs to be something that you just don’t think of doing any more.

You go up the doses until you get to the healthy weight

then you figure out after what to do

Agree, if it’s not working then you move up. The drugs help you eat in a defecit amongst other things, focusing on maintenance when gaining weight on them and over eating isn’t the way to do it.

If you want to eventually wean off WLI, I think you need to change habits while on WLI. If you’re mindlessly snacking now, then this is likely to get worse as you wean off and the weight will come back on.

You also need to be making the decision not to snack.
