Anyone else wish there was a higher dose than 15mg?

I just feel that it’s no longer cutting it for me. I could go out any night of the week and comfortably manage a 3 course meal! I continue to take it because it is absolutely better than the alternative - which is to take nothing - but the suppression could be better. I still have food on the brain, particularly since Christmas. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not tanking the family packs of Revels, and in fact am making healthy-ish choices. But probably eating too much. I find myself shying away from the scales, whereas would weigh weekly before Christmas (it appears to have been a turning point in my Mounjaro journey!).
Anyone else?

Im on 12.5 but can imagine feeling like this.
I can still eat and enjoy my food- friends on mj have really struggled to eat on it.
In one way im pleased i can still enjoy food but in another i wish i had more suppression, got full really quickly!
Having said that i really fancied an indian takeway at weekend and had enough left over to have it over 2 nights rather than eating it all on same day!
Dont often have it but did really enjoy it!
Im going to make an effort to up my water intake as i think thats meant to help

JMSA · 27/01/2026 23:47

Thanks for your reply and ditto with the water intake. I’m not the best at keeping hydrated and I know that won’t help.

No, but I increased my doses super slowly and did in between doses for as long as I could before increasing because I was worried about this happening. Almost a year in and my highest dose has been 7.5

Have you changed what you eat? E.g avoiding UPF and upping protein to help you feel full and not trigger cravings?

DeftGoldHedgehog · 28/01/2026 06:19

I felt like this at Christmas on 7.5mg. I gradually kicked my arse into gear and got back into my usual healthy eating and exercise and I don't feel like that now.

MrsMiagi · 28/01/2026 06:29

No, because then I am expecting MJ to do the work when I know if I eat well, drink enough water and move more, I will lose weight. Anything less than 12.5mg and I could easily eat alot but I am learning to stick to better choices, normal portion sizes and less snacks.

myladyjane · 28/01/2026 07:49

I sort of get you and also has a bit of a wobbly Christmas. I found I could eat through the mj if I really wanted and it upset me a bit. I moved up to 12.5 and for the first time in a year the dose change didn’t really register.

I am almost at goal now so it’s all very slow anyway so after I finish this pen I am going to move back down to 10. I only really moved up for a boost but that hasn’t really happened.

To a pps point, I do rely on the mj too much sometimes so I am looking at this year as the one to consolidate and focus on better habits where I am chasing the actual weight loss less.

Minuethippo · 28/01/2026 10:29

even adding the 2 litres of water didn't really make a difference for me!

TheToothFairy999 · 28/01/2026 10:37

The highest dose Ive been on was 10mg for 2 weeks but I then went back down to 7.5 as it didn’t agree with me.

Could you maybe inject every 5 days instead of every 7?

Periperi2025 · 28/01/2026 10:37

Do you think there is something underlying (not poor lifestyle, lack of willpower, lazy etc etc that people society like to blame people for) that has caused you obesity that your are not actually addressing currently?

Eg. Perimenopause/ Menopause, Hypothyroid or other endocrine problem that needs to be diagnosed and treated, Excess alcohol? If you can identify a contributing/ causal factor and tackle that then the battle may be easier.

grapesstrawberriespleass · 28/01/2026 10:43

I sort of know what you mean. I’ve bounced between 15mg and 12.5mg for the last 6 months now. I feel like it’s something hormonal because one month the 15mg felt like it was doing nothing and then when I was back on the 12.5mg, the suppression came back with a vengeance. I do feel like my cycle plays a big part. When I have a hormonal surge of any kind, so period or ovulation, I notice that week I’m usually hungrier.

I don’t let it bother me really though. I might be able to face food more than I did in the earlier MJ days, but I’m still struggling to eat big portions and I often leave some of my dinner so I know it’s working. I also don’t really think about food anymore. For example, I know it’s not ideal but I can leave the house at 10am and survive off only a coffee and a banana and some water until 2pm. I’d never have been able to do that before.

Crikeyalmighty · 28/01/2026 10:47

I’m not on wli at all but did do 6 weeks on MJ to kick off, so I understand the sensation even at a low dose - I stopped because I didn’t like heartburn as much as I was getting it but have continued to lose by sheer willpower and calorie counting and sticking to it and upping excercise a bit- what I’ve found is masses of protein kind of tricks me into feeling full quite quickly , so i buy those ready done Spanish omelettes, masses of 2% Greek yoghurt, cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs, cooked chicken, scrambled eggs on toast, large portions of chilli or curry on cauliflower rice and at least 4 glasses of water a day plus tea etc - it’s definitely banging in the protein that keeps me on track and I realise how little of it I ate before. Also this is something I could easily stick to, keep up whereas eating very little (due to large supression ) I genuinely don’t think long term I could keep that up - I actually do eat quite a fair bit these days, just very little bread, cake, pastry, biscuits, fast food, pasties etc - for instance the other day for breakfast/ lunch (11.30am) I had a banana ,a whole pot of cottage cheese ( Longley farm) 5 baby tomatoes and a hard boiled egg, - 480 cals- felt absolutely stuffed

BlueLimes · 28/01/2026 11:12

OP I feel much the same. Been on 15mg since July and only lost about 7lbs in that time.
I can still snack, never really went off any foods.

I need to work on myself really and my emotional responses. I’m not sure what to do - I going to try to do some reading around this.

I am going the gym 3x weekly and I’m going to increase protein and water. it’s been hard to get back on track since Christmas- I feel a bit (a lot) disappointed with myself.
I like to lose 7lbs then maintain on a lower dose.
I started at 12.2 and I’m 9.4 (was 4lbs lighter pre Christmas). I’m v small framed and could do with losing the tummy fat otherwise I’d be reasonably happy with weight,

Thanks for posting OP- it helps seeing the other posts.

PluckyChancer · 28/01/2026 11:12

Sounds like you might need a re-set.

Are you near your goal weight and have you lost more than 20% of your starting weight?

If you’ve increased your carb intake (over Christmas?), I find that it makes me crave even more carbs so can you go really low carb for at least a week to re-set this? So focussing on eating mainly vegetables, salad and protein and no empty carbs such as booze, bread, pasta etc.

Definitely make yourself drink more fluids. Minimum 2 litres a day.

Drop down to a lower dose of MJ whilst you’re low carbing. Treat it like you’re going on a serious diet for 2 weeks. Hopefully, 2 weeks will be enough to re-set your metabolism.

BlueLimes · 28/01/2026 11:18

@PluckyChancer interested in your advice, I’ll do this, already jabbed 15 but do want to see what 12.5 I’d like do will do this next week,

Woodywig · 28/01/2026 12:35

Me! I’m on 15 and can still happily eat a good meal - no food aversions at all - no real side affects.

I have very slow weight loss recently despite, eating under tdee, walking lots, and lifting weights with a pt x2 per week.

I lost quite a lot of weight quite quickly on lower doses. I was heavy and went from 120kg to 105kg between April & August.

Then had a plateau at 7.5. Since August I’ve gone slowly all the way up to 15 - but have only lost 7kg in nearly six months! So very slow. I did expect things to slow down - but not quite this much.

I’m currently 97.3kg - my initial target is 80kg and that feels a long way off.

strange how it works so well for some - but not for everyone. I met a person today who has lost over six stone in six months!

my plans is to stay in 15 for the next pen but to up the water and try to eat more protein - less carbs and fruit.

interim goal 95kg (2.3 kilos off) by my birthday in mid March.

good luck to everyone xx

Woodywig · 28/01/2026 12:38

Ps: interested in the reset idea as suggested by @PluckyChancer might raise this with my prescribing supplier. Thanks

@BlueLimeshow is your journey going? Are you a fellow Hungry Horace or do you have it all under control? 😁

The former sadly. Can still snack and eat but less so. I need a final push (lost focus over Christmas), then think about maintaining. I’m an emotional eater - I need to unravel that really.

I had an excellent food day but then had a handful of haribo - I’m sooooo stupid. I’ve only had 1400 calories but need to stop snacking.

How was your day?

HappyWineDay · 29/01/2026 13:01

I'm on 10mg and don't get the same suppression that I did when I first started back in June 2025. However, back when I did start, I completely changed to a low carb healthy diet, which I've continued with. So even without the high suppression, the weight stays off for me. This is really important to me, as at some point I will be coming off the WLI. I know that if I was eating what I had been a year ago, the weight would be back on in no time. With my new diet, I have a level of confidence that I will keep it off.
@JMSA , what I would say is don't avoid the scales! You really do need to know if they're heading in the wrong direction. I know that if I feel I've had a bad couple of days, or been on holiday, I hate the idea of stepping onto them, but I'm always glad I did. If they're higher than I expected then it motivates me to get back on the programme. I'd hate to think I avoided them then suddenly found I'd put a ste back on.

WeAllHaveWings · 29/01/2026 14:42

This is my second Christmas on Mounjaro and both times the post Christmas period has been tricky with cravings and food noise retriggered by Christmas eating patterns and not getting back to basics and a proper routine quickly (I still have some treat food left and have even bought/replaced some when it was finished, treats I wasn't having pre Christmas).

For me, the snacking habit at home is the biggest issue and difficult to break again, but once I stop I get back to basics I can feel it working with Mounjaro doing it's thing.

I can, and do, enjoy 3 course meals when out, or an occasional cake at a cafe and neither trigger the noise/cravings for more the same way home snacking does.

If you were ok before Christmas you probably will be again once you get those basics back on track.

This is a really helpful thread. I've read every post twice! I started MJ in March 25. I had a BMI of 27.5 and high cholesterol. My goal was to lose 20lbs which would have brought my BMI to 24/5.
While I lost 17lbs over 6months, I hated the side effects- anhedonia, coldness, low energy. As a triathlete I hated that. My Garmin told me my resting HR went up, HRV another heart measure, went down (not good), and despite training, more cardio than weights, I lost muscle mass. I could see that as I had bat wings! Anyway I took a break for a few months, put on a few lbs, some of it muscle, but was on an upward trajectory. I'm back on since October, and have lost 3 lbs. I'm actually on 5mg but dread increasing dosage because of the risk of side effects. I never went beyond 5mg.
Like other posters, I need to look at the quality of my food and snacks. Nighttime snacking is my downfall - though I'm well able to eat 3 full meals. I need to make MJ work for me without increasing dose
