Big instant lump & blood

I’ve been on Mounjaro for over 18 months, now happily at goal weight and on 2.5mg to maintain / wean off. Had plenty of normal digestive issues in the early days but never any problems with injection sites.

Injected tonight and bled straight away, which I never normally do, and the and it looked like some of the medication didn’t go in. Big ugly lump appeared instantly at the injection site. Not painful, but it gave me a fright.

Google suggests that it’s a bubble of medication in the subcutaneous layer (ie the injection hasn’t gone deep enough) and that it should settle down in 72 hours.

The lump is already looking a bit better (10 min later), and I’m slightly reassured by googles answer but still feeling nervous.

I’ve had a crap day where everything I have touched has gone wrong and this just topped it off. Have I caused serious harm? Am I going to be unwell?

Has anyone had similar? I’ve never even heard of this before.

I’m working myself into a tizz now, really hope it’s nothing to worry about but am already tired and stressed so can’t help but over think it.

I've done this, with a syringe though, extracting golden dose, not concentrating, bent the needle and it went under the skin, big lump, quite alarming, it didn't bleed much, all was OK the next morning.

Thank you, it gave me such a fright, it came up so fast.

It was a new pack of needles and they did look slightly different to ones I have used before. I wonder if they are shorter. Or (more likely) I just got it wrong as I was tired and rushing.

It’s put me off injecting again though. Might have to see how well I can maintain on my own.

It'll be fine, I have so little fat left now compared to when I started that I forget that I can't really just jab it into my stomach without pinching, I use syringes to extract mostly now anyway, getting a small dose from a pen and I haven't done it since, the needles are big as well 😂

I did this too, but also with an insulin syringe, was just rhe meds under the skin, I just massaged it a bit and it was fine.

I did this once and worried myself. But it was all fine. Lump went gradually and medication worked fine that week.

I’ve taken more care with each injection since. I was in a hurry that day and tried to inject standing up.

I had this when I did a wegovy injection standing up. It was gone by the next morning and all worked fine. I often bleed, but I also bled a lot when having an IV out and a blood test. I just bleed a lot I think

Thanks everyone.

Thankfully last night’s panic wasn’t justified and I have survived. Lump has gone today but area is a bit bruised.

I think that’s me done though, time to hang up the needles and go it on my own. The fright and stress last night has really put me off.

Now I just need to figure out which pharmacy will take away my sharps bin, and try to not end up back where I started with my head in a biscuit tin. Fingers crossed.

I saw your post last night but didn't know what to say

I've been on it three months and it's not a great experience and injecting scares me as well

I'm glad you're alright. When I run out, I'm stopping. People lost weight before these things were invented so will be fine.
