Anxiety about taking MJ injection after it arrived late

Evening, I am just looking for advice on whether I am being silly or not. I was due to take my 10mg dose of MJ this evening, 1st one in the pen however I got really nervous and refused to have it.

The reason for this is that due to the Snow we had in Aberdeenshire, my pen which was dispatched on the 7th of January did not arrive until the 13th of January.

I rang Medexpress for advice and they said it should be fine to use even though the 2 ice packs had melted and they cannot guarantee the conditions it was kept in.

Would I be better airing on the side of caution and not taking it this evening, ring Medexpress in the morning and ask them to send another and then send the other one back?

One of mine was in a hedge for a week in summer and it was fine. Still worked.

I would just use it, back when I first started this would have freaked me out but over a year later I would definitely use it. It doesn’t become dangerous if it’s not kept cool, just potentially less effective.

If the liquid looks completely normal and the liquid was not frozen when it arrived but the 2 x ice packs which it arrived it had melted, would this be okay?

I hate that the delivery method isn’t really regulated.. if it is Medicine or food etc. they should be kept in a fridge type set up to avoid any issues like that. The ice packs only do their job for 48-72 hours…

id also not think twice it’s cold out there and it won’t have frozen, but I’m at least 18 months in and comfortable with it,

HarvestMouseandGoldenCups · 19/01/2026 21:56

It’ll be fine OP. You don’t even have to keep it refridgerated after first use so why would a few extra days make a difference?

SilenceInside · 19/01/2026 22:21

Even if it had come up to room temperature on the days that it was delayed, it would still be fine for another 30 days from that point.

The pharmacies are supposed to keep the cold chain, because you shouldn’t have to start using the pen as soon as it arrives. You might need to keep it for a few weeks before using, so it should stay at 2 to 8 degrees. But, of course you can start using it straight away which is what you actually wanted to do. So it is safe to use and you would be able to get 4 doses from it within the 30 days.

MeridaBrave · 19/01/2026 22:45

It’s been cold outside for weeks, def under 10c, am
sure it’s fine.

bignewprinz · 19/01/2026 23:04

I don't think I'd get wound up about this given the time of year. If it was the height of summer I'd feel differently, but your pen has likely stayed cool during it's delayed trip.

ShrankLastWinter · 19/01/2026 23:16

Pharmacies have to give correct and cautious answers to everything and even your pharmacy says this is fine.

(The reason pharmacies have to give cautious, unambiguous answers to everything is that people take daft ideas into their heads like that “store unopened pens in the fridge but don’t worry about keeping your pen in the fridge once you’re using it” might imply that the opened vs unopened state of the pen is the issue, rather than that the pen is actually ok out of the fridge for a few weeks!)

Tammy214 · 20/01/2026 13:33

I agree with lots if the posts here, if the pen looks intact and isnt cloudy the guidence says its fine to use. however i would push for a discount on your next order from the supplier for their issues in providing it, lay it on thick

Allmarbleslost · 20/01/2026 13:51

As far as I understand it if they liquid is clear it's fine to use.

No. It's that if the liquid is cloudy or has particulates in then you absolutely should not use it. Being clear means that it isn't obviously wrong to use it, but you should still be aware of the expiry date of the pen in cold storage and the 30 day limit for usage once open.

ShrankLastWinter · 22/01/2026 19:08

And that’s another example of why pharmacies have to be so careful!

’Do not use the pen if the liquid is cloudy’ does not mean ‘the pen is always fine to use if the liquid is not cloudy’.

Just like ‘do not eat the chicken if it is green’ doesn’t mean ‘chicken that isn’t green is always fine to eat’.
