Struggling to get back on track after Christmas

Hi There

Is anyone else struggling to get back on track after Christmas? I lost 6.5 stone last year on MJ, but have been maintaining since Christmas. I upped my dose 3 weeks ago to 7.5mg, and its definitely working in terms of suppression, but I am reaching for all the wrong foods - sweets, chocolate and takeaways have all snuck back in. The thing is, I am not even enjoying them!

I still have around 5st to lose, so need to get back on track!

Anyone else feeling the same or have any tips about how to get refocussed?

I made the stupid mistake of not taking meds over Xmas and NY period now I've weighed and I've put on half a stone. Starting back on injections this week now all Xmas food gone.

Is there a way to avoid having this stuff in the house? I struggle with the biscuit tin, but feel mean if I don’t have biscuits in for the rest of the family. I’ve had some success with moving the tin from its usual cupboard (eye-level, near the kettle) where it was too easy to dive in whilst making a cup of tea. It’s now in the utility room and even just having to go into the next room is enough to give me pause and remind myself not to do it.

Apart from that, I suppose the usual advice would be to drink more water and eat more protein. I live in the sticks, so takeaways just aren’t available (thankfully!) - have you noticed when you’re more likely to get one? Could it be avoided by planning ahead for meals you really enjoy?

Much sympathy from me. I fell into a Quality Street trap over the holidays and it was hard to break free from it, but the Mounjaro really will help you if you give it a chance.

You just need to knuckle down I’m afraid i gave myself one day of eating as I pleased on 3rd Jan and then just said that’s it. First couple of days I did side eye the chocolate, but I stuck firm for the week, then it was the second week where I suddenly felt the meds really working again, and the 4lbs I’d gained, started dropping off.

id been on a two week all inclusive holiday and had lots of desserts, sugary cocktails etc, and I am thinking the drugs are not as effective when you’ve sugar in your system, but when that reduces, you really feel them working.

so as much as it’s not fun, just grit your teeth.

You need to get all of those left over treats out of the house. That’s what I had to do.

The only thing that works for me is ‘protein first’. For you right now it might soften it by saying:

”I can have the sweets once I’ve eaten this chicken breast” so being kinder in the way you to talk to yourself and not denying yourself anything Smile

because we all know once you’ve eaten the chicken you’re going to want 2 quality street instead of ten !

Yes it was all a bit of a mess. I’d got quite relaxed as I’ve been taking MJ for over 18 months, and thought I didn’t need to track intake so closely etc… hah.

Ive gained 4kg. I tried stepping back up a dose, to a level I couldn’t tolerate before, and even though our diet was much better into January I’ve just had a horrible 24 hr bout of vomiting. Back down in dose and back to tracking really carefully and I’ll get there. All very silly.

I had a similar problem after Xmas.

I find eating too much sugar brings back my food cravings even on mj.

I had to really apply some willpower for a couple of days and cut out the junk and processed food.

Focus on your macros and get your pet and fibre in.

I’ve settled back to normal now.

I definitely agree with the comments that sugar brings back cravings / reduces effectiveness. I have no interest in meals, but do want sugary snacks.
Just finding it hard to get back into the mindset.
