For those who have titrated back down....

For those who have titrated back down, did you:

Start before or after hitting your eventual goal?
Did you stay on your top dose for a while before coming back down?
How long did you stay on each dose on the way back down?
Did you continue to lose for a bit when titrating back down or did the loss stop right away?

I'm currently at my goal (which was top end of my healthy bmi) but ideally I'd like to lose another 12lb or so to give myself a bit of a buffer for when I do eventually come off it totally.

Got to end goal on 0.5 Wegovy. Too 9 months.
Moved back down to 0.25 for a few months
Reduced from 0.25 weekly to 0.25 fortnightly
Have stayed on this for two years and maintained my ‘goal’ (or within a few pounds) by eating super-healthily during the week and tracking in Nutracheck but easing up at weekends. I exercise regularly too.

I get it from a private GP
The GP says it’s such a tiny amount and that it’s me who’s doing the heavy lifting here but it makes the difference to me between being able to make decisions with my head and being at the mercy of my raging low blood sugar and monstrous appetite. It was like being chained to a maniac and I am so grateful to be free.

Well it depends on a couple of factors, how have you responded generally to mj? Are you on the highest dose?
I titrated down from 5, the highest I ever went , to 2.5 once I reached my target, I carried on losing, because I knew I would have to stop mj so I figured keep going whilst I have access to the drug. I then took ever smaller doses from the pens I had stashed,to the point of it being around 1,
If I were able to afford to keep on mj I would have titrated down to the smallest dose possible and kept going with the drug, but at maintenance cals.

I've responded well so far, been on it since March 25, currently taking 8.33mg from a 10mg (trying to make the pens I bought before the price rise last a little longer).
So plan is to start with 7.5 for a month or so then try get down to 5.
I've still got 3 10mg pens in the fridge

Definitely titrate down. I lost most of my weight on 2.5mg only ever went up to 3.75 mg. Lost 25kg over 7 months. I have regained 14kg in 14 months since stopping .

Next time I will do 1.25mg a week for a while before stopping completely.
Just count the clicks on the pens you have .

Semblanceof · 12/01/2026 22:19

Well I'd just keep taking smaller and smaller doses from the pens you've got left, so long as you're getting an effect from the dose you're taking.
I don't hold out much hope in the long term of keeping all the weight I lost off(5 stones 3) it's like night and day on mj and off, but I have changed my mindset nd I'm doing OK for now, and maybe try mct oil alongside I F. I do sadly think it's a drug for life and that's something I didn't factor on at the beginning.

I hit goal, did an extra month on 10 mg, the dose I was on, whilst slowly increasing cals, then down to 7.5 then down to 5, where I am staying for maintenance, had a couple of weeks all inclusive holiday, gained four or five pounds on holiday, so nudged it up on return nine days ago to help me knock the weight off and get back in track, then will go back to 5mg.

Been on 5 for several months now and my weight is very stable and my apetite under control, I could eat more, but easy enough not to, but did on holiday, desserts ice creams, pasta etc, and obvs drinking sugary cocktails etc, now feeling back into healthy ways, so likely back to five at the end of this week. So two weeks at 7,5 then back to 5, as I found jet lag and sugar in my system made me hungrier than normal.

I reached goal (healthy weight), set a new goal, reached it, set a new one, reached it, set a new one (under BMI 23.9), slowly reached it, stayed on 7.5mg for a couple of months, now down to 6.25.

I lost quickly for 7 months then slowed my losses right down for the next 6 months but carried on losing half a kilo a month. Still doing that on 6.25.

My GP reckons coming off slowly is best. Or rather, he recommends staying on for at least 18-24 months after reaching goal. I don’t plan to come off the drug completely ever, but I’m planning to titrate down really slowly. As my BMI is still well up in the healthy range I think it’s ok if a few more kilos go before I find the right balance for me.

Hit goal on 12.5 (only managed 2 weeks on it as I HATED the way it made me feel!) then went back to my beloved 10mg. Did another 6 weeks on 10 and kept dropping weight so went to 7.5 for 4 weeks. Kept on dropping so came down to 5mg.

Have been on 5 for nearly 5 months but have just ordered a 7.5 as I have been a glutton over Christmas, put on 10lbs and need it to stop. Will see where I am in a month🤷‍♀️
