Mounjaro medex pen broke

Finewine76 · 09/01/2026 17:23

My pen allowed me two doses then stopped clicking properly. I managed to get it up to the right dose but it wouldnt release the liquid in to me. When I pulled the needle out the liquid was seepimg though the red bit and was down my tummy, has this happened to anyone else. Really annoyed as I have two does in the pen still! It won't let me push the top down to release the liquid

I don’t know what Medex means unless for some reason you mean the pharmacy med express.

sounds like a faulty needle and you kept forcing it.

sharkyroy · 09/01/2026 17:28

You probably just needed to change the needle

Twasasurprise · 09/01/2026 17:40

Yep, the needle piercing the red bung probably bent as you put it on.

SilenceInside · 09/01/2026 18:16

the needle was bent or blocked as others have said. Have you tried changing the needle? Is the red seal damaged or bulging?

Finewine76 · 11/01/2026 08:11

Red seal is bulging, I've changed the needle too. Ive ordered the insulin pen to try and get it out myself. Med express not answering emails.

Did it prime ok before it jammed?

That’s probably because you have been trying to force it when the needle needed changed

SilenceInside · 11/01/2026 10:52

I am nearly certain that MedExpress will say it's user error and not be interested in any kind of refund or replacement.

bignewprinz · 11/01/2026 12:05

Agree with @SilenceInside, I don't think you can pin this on the supplier.

raspberrymeringue · 17/01/2026 13:26

Did it prime ok before you injected ? I’ve had quite a few needles fail. My supplier always provides a few spares I assume for this reason.

Really odd how some people have so many needle failures and others none. I have been using Mounjaro for 19 months, so 70+ injections and not a single needle failure. Must be a huge difference in quality between needle brands.

You might well be right, or as a PP mentioned maybe it’s operator error. I’ve done 60 jabs. Can’t recall exactly how many required a new needle but it’s certainly been a few times. It’s made me think maybe I need to take more care attaching the needle.

RobinEllacotStrike · 17/01/2026 13:51

I’m nearly through a whole box of needles & I’ve had 3 fail

Twasasurprise · 17/01/2026 14:35

I've managed to have zero out of approx 170 needles fail, using a number of brands. (I've done a lot as I inject my DH's for him too and we've used a variety of suppliers.)

I carefully line them up as I push them on, but can see how easy it would be to slightly bend the inner part of the needle if you need to straighten it up to screw it on.

sharkyroy · 17/01/2026 19:09

I have had several not work, but I think I just wasn’t lining up carefully enough as the vast majority of these happened over a year ago. Maybe 2 since.
