What BMI to move to Maintenance Supplier / Ordering after a gap

Summerbay23 · 06/01/2026 10:27

Just wondering what BMI I should think about moving over to a maintenance supplier? I'm not at my ideal weight yet - BMI still 32, but wondering if I should pick a maintenance supplier now before I hit 30 or whether I still have a bit of time to just go with the best price?

If anyone can recommend a good maintenance supplier that would be great (I'm thinking about one where I can possibly order a larger pen but take smaller doses so ordering less regularly).

For now I need to order another 10mg pen but haven't ordered since the end of August due to the price rises and pens I already had. Can anyone let me know which suppliers have let you order with a gap.

Thanks so much!

I'm also starting to think of looking at maintenance and I think I'll be going with either Pharmulous or Lotus as they both seem to be highly recommended.

averychoc · 06/01/2026 11:47

I’m thinking about this soon too, and had read similar to pp

Clutterbug2026 · 06/01/2026 11:50

Not IQdoctor.

JBJ · 06/01/2026 12:06

I’ve just moved to Pharmulous in preparation for maintenance as I hit BMI 30 so thought I needed to do it now. I’ve actually got a bit of a backlog of MJ in the fridge, so won’t actually need any more for a few months, but I’ve ordered a lower dose from then ready for dropping down as I’m hoping to have reached goal by the time my stash has been used. Prices are pretty good too.

I didnt realise you had to move to a maintenance supplier so early? I assumed as long as you'd been on it and using it regularly you could move anywhere as long as you are in a healthy BMI range?

I'm not sure to be honest. I'm unlikely to go below BMI 25 as I'm in my 50s and think that is probably a good weight for me. So maybe that means I can stay with any supplier? I didn't want to risk it though so thought I should see what other people have done once they started to get close to an ideal BMI. Although I guess part of the maintenance is that you may need to choose a supplier who lets you order less frequently than say every 4 - 6 weeks.

Yes I think there are some who dont supply under certain BMIs but I imagine now with people switching so much that most suppliers are ok with gaps in purchasing and I guess if you can prove you had a supply (I imagine this is really common since the august price hike) that they will be fine. Apparently Lotus presribe down to BMI 19 but MedExpress get funny under BMI 24.

Charlenedickens · 06/01/2026 13:24

avoid med express they are one of rh few who cut you off cold with a myriad of silly excuses

Lollylavender · 06/01/2026 13:33

Do you mean taking it longer term/forever?

I'm not sure at this stage. I think once I get to my desired BMI I may try to reduce the dose back down to as low as possible / possibly coming off completely / or reducing the length of time in-between doses in order to maintain the BMI. It may be that I can do it without the use of MJ (with good old diet and exercise) but I won't know until I get there I guess.

Op, now that so many pharmacies do maintenance, I think you'll be fine until you hit bmi 25. So if I was you, I'd continue to take advantage of discounts if you want to or stick with your current supplier if you're happy with them.

No reputable pharmacy will agree to you short dosing to save money but most will allow 6 weeks between orders, some 8 weeks so it's possible to do DIY a bit.

During maintenance, some will allow you to do one month on, one month off if you're on a low dose pen and you can then split pens if you want ( I do this with Oushk, taking 1.25 from a 2.5 pen and order every 2 months). But you're a long way from knowing if this will be an option for you - it'll all depend on whether you can actually maintain at such a low dose. I don't know any that'd allow you to eek out a 15mg pen for several months or do one month on, one off at such a high dose, and definitely none if you didn't get to this dose while losing weight.

Thanks @KrankyKumquat really useful. I might try and order another pen from a cheaper supplier for the moment then (finding one that will let me order despite the break might be difficult??) Although I can provide pictures etc. to show I have been on MJ continuously.

I wouldn't plan on eeking out a 15mg pen for ages but was thinking I could potentially use a 5mg pen for slightly lower doses, but as you say I'm a long way from knowing what I will need to do, one step at a time I guess.

Thanks for your help.

@KrankyKumquat I am now under BMI 25 but not by much, does this mean I can't move now or are there just less pharmacies that offer it? I am still buying monthly/taking it regularly so I would assume it is normal for people to keep taking it still as for a lot of people they would want to be BMI 21/22, or is it just when people take a break that it could be an issue?

morbidcuriosity · 06/01/2026 14:37

I moved to pharmalous couple weeks ago for a 10mg pen. Took.pic of my last 4 box 2 dated August 2 dated begin sept. Got them before price hike.. they accepted me for a 10mg fine. Bmi 21.7 . I will stick with them now.

@SexyFrenchDepression
Lots will take you on lower than 25, just not all. This site is usually pretty up to date on the latest prices and maintenance policies:

@KrankyKumquat for your "allegedly" one month on one month off plan are you on their "conti" plan with £25 off each pen or did they make you go on flex and pay £15/month and the standard £15/month off?

This is the part of the maintenance that is putting me off staying at Oushk. Working around these made up "plans". I am liking the sound of Pharmulous who just let you order anytime you want as long as within the last 12 months.

KrankyKumquat · 06/01/2026 19:46

@WeAllHaveWings
I'm on the conti plan and the one month on, one off was agreed by the prescriber. I'd refuse on principle to pay for nothing, on the flexi plan😅 as like you say, other prescribers will let you go off for 12 months and return, at no cost. Oushk also take on new customers who've been off for a while and want to go back on, without charge, which I think is grossly unfair to loyal flexi customers but, for some reason, some people are happy to pay up 🤷‍♀️
I'm pretty settled with Oushk, having been with them since July 2024, I've got a plan agreed and they do some great discounts - my last 3 pens were less than pre-price rises in August and I just keep pushing delivery dates back if I don't actually need a pen at the time. I don't intend to ever come off but will definitely jump to SwiftDoctor or Pharmulous if discounts dry up with Oushk.

I recently ordered through Get a Drip. BMI is 22 and I hadn't ordered since Sept as I had a surplus i was using up.

Very easy to order with usual checks and cost £130 for 5mg using a code via Monj.

My supplier takes on new orders for down to 22bmi as long as you can proof you have been on MJ the last 12 weeks and if a gap of more than two weeks they start you on 2.5 otherwise your current dose (pill sorted) . Most suppliers now requires photos and video’s (on my last order mine had to be live through their portal) and pictures of previous pen boxes with your name DOB etc

many suppliers supports maintenance below 25 , some under 22 but most under 30 as long as proof of previous usage can be given (during price hike at bmi 27 I had no issues ordering from multiple suppliers with the proof of my last pen) .

I prefer pill sorted with the membership discount and they are very reliable , as many now need so much pictures etc I’m less likely to switch between providers this time around (I recently restarted 2.5 after a 2 month gap after stopping at 12.5 after 7.5 months)

Have a look below for providers for maintainance and prices
